Am I the only one looking forward to the RN cruisers?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to G01ngToxicCommand0's topic in General Discussion
In answer to your question: "Am I the only one looking forward to the RN cruisers?" - No, of course not. I suspect that you are actually in the majority. I am no longer looking forward to the regular line (Though HMS Belfast could be very promising). The fact that we are now apparently on the fourth version, after three previous unsuccessful attempts, and that this one has "magic" AP to justify the lack of HE ammunition fills me with no confidence at all. (No HE in a cruiser, Fur Fox Ache ) I am disillusioned with the lengths that WG are going to, so that they can get every line to be so "unique"! It makes me wonder what extremes they will go to for French/Italian cruisers when they eventually appear. Cruisers as tanky as BB's, perhaps, 60 kt speed cruisers? If the RN cruisers turn out like they seem to be heading then they can stick them where the sun don't shine, TBH. I'll stick to my Russian cruisers instead. -
Economy in 0.5.12 - a Detailed Look
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Ph3lan's topic in General Discussion
The data has seven columns: Column Name Description 1 Tier Self-Explanatory 2 Class Self-Explanatory 3 Name Self-Explanatory 4 Credits Percentage change in credits earned in the new economy 5 Maintenance Percentage change in ammunition costs in the new economy 6 Ammunition Percentage change in maintenance charges in the new economy 7 Balance Percentage change in overal profit/loss in the new economy A positive value indicates that the numbers are greater in the new economy, and a negative number indicates that numbers are less, e.ga figure of 11% in the credits column shows that you earn 11% more in the new economy, but if it said -8% that would mean that you earn 8% less. -

1. Homing in on the data for changes in Maintenance costs, the figure for Omaha is astonishing. Here are the leading beneficiaries of the changes: Name Credits Maintenance Omaha 23% -163% Dunkerque 2% -46% Warspite 9% -40% New Mexico 13% -38% Bayern 0% -36% Fuso 16% -35% Cleveland 22% -32% Arizona 6% -31% 2. Preliminary conclusions - Wargamings figures ARE CORRECT. No discussion. - My own experience is different, therefore my playstyle does not fit the new economy very well - I've tried different playstyles and the only one that I like is the one that I use (for cruisers) - I have no choice but to accept that I personally will make less money but most people will benefit, so IT IS A GOOD THING! -
According to the WG wiki page for HMS Belfast, she is priced at 8000 doubloons (in-game price). So if they keep up the recent practice of offering a plain "Standard" package this comes to 8000 + 300 (for the port slot) At current prices 8300 gold can be bought for £27.26 (€30.16) - which looks roughly OK for a tier 7 ship. P.S. Interestingly, HMS Belfast's page does NOT include the disclaimer found on the other RN cruiser pages, i.e. "Ship is still being tested and all vital statistics are subject to change. "

I posted as much in the "Public Test" section of the forum. It seems to me that this map, the "Epicenter" battle mode, the economy changes are all reactions to the camping that nobody liked. What worries me is that leading people into too much brawling is just as bad. It's especially pernicious at the present time because cruisers aren't suited to mixed brawls. (And lets face cruisers they are under enough pressure as it is)

And a great shipbuilding city, which produced such ships as ...... HMS Belfast!

WG's reaction to the complaints about CVs not doing well in the new economy
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Ictogan's topic in General Discussion
A very good point, and yet another example of the fact that communications from WG are not good enough at the moment - at least in the EU. I think that the people that we talk to on the forums seem to be decent and hard working, so is the problem simply having too few staff to do all the tasks required? Or is there some systemic problem here? -
This has been forced down our throats a lot on Public Test - which is understandable for a new map - but I wish that they would back off a bit because it is getting stale, It seems an OK map for a standard battle, but with three caps it often degenerates into a brawl fest around B, with people sometimes popping up at the flanks unexpectedly. So you need to be very aware, and quick on the trigger sometimes. I would say that - Good players will like it a lot - Average players will think that it is OK - Below average players won't like it. My own view is that I slightly dislike it, because of the brawls.

This thread encouraged me to check up on what I have spare in my port. There are 6 spare slots, and I could dispose of 35 to 40 unloved ships without much trouble. Some of the "great unwanted" may surprise you, for example - premium ships (Campbeltown, Kamikaze R, Anshan, Imperator Nikolai I) and - silver ships which seem to be popular with other people (Kongo, Aoba, Myoko, Isokaze, Minekaze, Kiev, St. Louis, Omaha, Langley, Farragut, New Mexico)

Cruisers are becoming more and more pointless
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to bloodynicknames's topic in General Discussion
Very creative thinking. That is an idea worth developing further IMHO. -
Thank you very much for the tips. I've just been trying out these tactics on Public Test Server, and they are very sound advice. I actually survive some battles now, and do more damage. (average 35k instead of about 20-25k damage). Not star quality - but hey, an improvement!

Great idea for a thread! How about "Fighter cover" award for when a CV player provides fighter support to a ships (I don't know much about CVs but there is some explicit command to do this I think, so it can be recognised quite easily) Also, "AA Escort" award for sailing your ship within "n" kilometers of a friendly ship and activating AA consumable to fire at enemy aircraft attacking this friendly ship. (Obviously the Royal Navy won't be able to do this ) - Reward is obvious: Free AA consumable! Finally, "Heavy Smoker" - laying smoke for your team which YOU YOURSELF DO NOT USE, as you spot for your team. Double reward given if the DD does it for cruiser players. 10x reward for doing it for the benefit of players called "Admiral_H_Nelson".

Excellent! This posting should be printed off and framed, and put above everyone's work desk....starting with WG of course....but yes, everyone.

Regarding the OP's point though.... This is a bug for heaven's sake! He has a 100% valid grievance. Surely there must be an escalation procedure for this? (Anticipating the smart reply already:"No there isn't and don't call me Shirley") -
I think that a lot of people are disappointed that there is only a slight improvement in stats from a 203mm Myoko to a 203mm Mogami, but you get worse matchmaking. It's almost like you are just continuing the Myoko grind (fine ship though it undoubtedly is), but in less favourable circumstances. PS - just saying, but don't forget that you get much better Torpedo firing arcs in Atago.

How can I play these replays, please? I link to the website, and click the "Download" button. WOWS starts and then just freezes. I have to use Windows Task manager to kill it. I'd like to watch these videos (from a Forumite, rather than these Youtubers that I am getting sick of, apart from Flamu), because I tried Pensacola on Public Test and I really have no idea how to play her. Myoko, Yorck & Shchors at the same level, yes.....but Pensacola...totally baffled.

Since I am the suspicious sort, I reckon that it is another (gentle) push towards getting the players to adopt the 203mm guns. Great - then you become a tweaked Myoko, but with Tier 8 matchmaking. No thanks.

The official PT announcement ( http://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/public-test/public-test-0513/ ) says "Get 10 Type "6" Camouflage patterns (+100% XP per battle) on the live server for earning 5,000 XP (modifiers don't count!) with New Orleans or Mogami." (My emphasis on the "or") I trusted this to be correct (what an idiot - trusting Wargaming communications!) and downloaded the test client to play Mogami. If I had known that I was expected to play New Orleans as well, I would not have bothered.

The Public Test announcement on the website says: "Get 10 Type "6" Camouflage patterns (+100% XP per battle) on the live server for earning 5,000 XP (modifiers don't count!) with New Orleans or Mogami." Note the key element there : New Orleans or Mogami. However for the in-game mission it appears that you actually have to get at least 2500 XP in New (Cough! Spit!) Orleans AND at least 2500 XP in Mogami (New Orleans is phase 1 of the mission, and phase 2 is Mogami. Complete both phases in sequence to get the reward) I've played all sorts of ships in Public Test that I don't care for (e.g. IJN Battleships when the armour got changed) but I draw the line at the New Orleans.

It's difficult to describe the sound of music in words, and I can't write musical notation here. Up till now I would have said that all of the music in WoWS was good, and a lot of it is excellent. Some of the tracks featuring the female voice are superb. Just played a battle in Mogami on Neighbors map, and heard some new music. It consisted of a female voice vocalizing musical notes, with instrumental accompaniment. All taste is personal, but I found it to be a god-awful wailing. It's hideous. In light of my comments above, I was very surprised to react like this. If you are going to put this in game then please provide some sort of "Quick-mute" button. I don't want to turn off all music, just be able to react to this crap when it appears.
