Thread title:The RN is coming tomorrow! It makes me think of the famous quote from the film "Gone with the Wind" ... Rhett Butler: Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.
-
OK, Ictogan, let's do a deal. I'll back down and say that Russian cruisers are not the strongest in the game (although they ARE for me personally, and I did put "probably" in brackets) .... if YOU post something on the MAIN point that I made - cruisers need HE because the AP is the wrong ammo in many situations. P.S. Just work up after a refreshing sleep...and STILL FUMING! Dear Wargaming. FU!
-
So...Ambush, Smoke, Torpedoes .... You aren't describing cruisers but big destroyers but less agile, with poorer smoke, and unable to torp from stealth. *Holds head in hands* After a meal I have now cooled down a bit. Now merely at a level of incandescent rage.

Belfast is WG's method of deflecting criticism of the upcoming Royal Navy Light Cruisers. You get an OP (in the right hands) Premium to compensate for a line of silver ships that only unicums can play properly.

DISCLAIMER: Just come home to this news after a long day at work, so tired and "emotional". For me, these three observations, sum up the whole thing. They are from people whose opinions I respect, and who have had the chance to play these Royal Navy ships. Except for the Belfast, I am not looking forward to this line AT ALL. Maybe there are great ships in tiers 8-10, but my skill level runs at at tiers 6/7 so it is irrelevant to me. Don't give me any of that "L2P" patronising crap - if you get charged head on by something like a Budyonny or Aoba you are going to die - your AP will do nothing! You need HE in a cruiser goddammit! TBH I am furious that Wargaming have made the RN line the gimmick-ridden, high skill ceiling, experimental line of cruisers - whilst at the same time making the (virtually non-existent in real life) Russian cruisers the strongest in the game (probably).

The clue is in the poster's name!

It's a kind of magic.... They don't write 'em like that any more.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
I was only able to give you one "like" for this due to system restrictions. But this is such an important point IMHO that I would have liked to give you more. -
Just another example of the famed Wargaming "Attention to detail".

Am I the only one looking forward to the RN cruisers?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to G01ngToxicCommand0's topic in General Discussion
You are both right. In the context of "real life", Babykim is correct. In the context of the World of Warships game (where real life takes second place to balance) I'm with Okitank. A cruiser without HE is like a DD without smoke, or a BB without AP. Your mileage may differ, of course, but to me it seems that they are taking this quest for national "uniqueness" too far to remove HE completely. -
Split Topic: Gameplay > HMS Belfast release date
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to mtm78's topic in Archive
I approve of this date 100%! Jethro has a witty and dry sense of humour. He is just being ironic! AFAIK he doesn't hate anybody (except maybe his missus - but that's natural! ) -
Good points. Something similar was said about the Tier 7 Russian DD Premium "Leningrad", in that the best skills for that ship are not the same for most of the rest of the Russian DD line.

German Fleet Special this weekend (15-17 Oct 2016)
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Sonic_157's topic in General Discussion
I'm sorry Mr Conway, but that is lame excuse. You know very well that if the October calendar had been published on time then players would have been able to plan their purchases round the events. I, and many others, have used the calendars in this way many times in the past! For you to pretend otherwise is disingenuous at best, and contemptuous of the players intelligence at worst. To be honest, I am disappointed in you. This is the official event calendar for October, belatedly posted by your colleague (Cynd3r) here: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/64005-event-calendar-for-october/page__pid__1356209#entry1356209 As with previous calendars, it contains genuinely useful info that such as this. For example,"15 October 07:00 CEST - 18 October 07:00 CEST: Weekend Special: German Fleet Similar to the American fleet special, this event will bring in daily doubles and some discounts and missions." TO REPEAT: I, and many others, have used the calendars many times in the past in order to take advantage of discounts on ships. -
Am I the only one looking forward to the RN cruisers?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to G01ngToxicCommand0's topic in General Discussion
Well you might want NEPTUNE.... ...but by JUPITER! I don't know what on EARTH Wargaming are thinking off with these RN cruisers, but they have SATURN this project for too long, and their ideas MARS the game for me. They ruined the project because they did not PLANET properly. I'm so fed up with the idea that my message to WG is "Stick them up URANUS" err...... I'll get my coat. It's OK. I know my own way out. -
This is off the wall, and WG would never allow it since it would restrict their income... 1. You are playing ship "A". You need 50,000 XP in total to unlock ship "B". 2. When you get to the 50,000 target you have a choice a) Unlock immediately b) Defer unlocking the ship immediately, but carry on gaining experience in ship "A" with all free xp gained in that ship being credited to ship "B". c) When you feel ready, you can unlock ship "B" and use whatever free Xp that you banked in step 2.b to unlock upgrades. Why would you take option b? - for the same reason that you use free xp at the moment, i.e. to avoid playing it stock. You could introduce this from tier 5 onwards. By then players like myself potatoes have gotten the idea of how painful a stock grind can be and are willing to look for alternatives.

Good idea. Just checked. 34 matches, of which..18 Rendezvous11 "prey" Yawn!
-
If that is supposed to be the English version then why is it using commas instead of decimal points? Why does it say, for example, "2,73" instead of "2.73". I'm not saying that either method is right or wrong, but it should display the data using the correct format for the target audience.
-
Same things happens on Windows 8.1. Every time. No diagnostics offered by the system, though.
-
I like your idea - it's simple to understand and the mechanics should be very easy to implement. All canisters the same level of rewards. All cost the same. Maximum three per day awarded. Unused XP carried forward towards next cannister. What's not to like?
-
Credit where it is due.Thank You, and "Well Done",- for coming back to the forum to explain.- for the clear explanation.- for updating the website promptly with the correct info.- for having the decency to say "sorry". Having invested all the time & effort in unlocking Mogami, I decided to go ahead and complete the mission. Cleveland & Pensacola were OK, but New Orleans...Oh! my Goodness. Tier 8 matchmaking is not kind to this ship. No wonder that Flamu did a SPECIAL VIDEO on the subject. (See "Cruisers" section of the forum) "We are sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused..""inconvenience" ... that's two hours of my life that I will never get back that I wasted playing this "New Orleans" heartbreaker - all for a few camos. Esau sold his birthright for a better reward than that! At least he got a hot meal.
-
Well I did say "On the premise that the quoted figure for HMS Belfast in the WG wiki is correct (11 km) and includes the supplied premium camo.." ... but thank you for telling me this, since it is vital to know how these things work in this game. You are a star! (I obviously missed the change when I took my long break from the game earlier this year.)

Economy in 0.5.12 - a Detailed Look
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Ph3lan's topic in General Discussion
I would never, never suggest that you are stupid. Please do not misinterpret my over-eager desire to try to be helpful. Be in no doubt. I like and respect your postings. I agree with you, I would like to see more detailed figures so that I can perform more analysis. That is my main problem, also. -
Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Provided that they don't hit the same kind of snags that hit the RN cruisers, as WG continue with their obsession with trying to make each line blantantly "unique" in some way. (No mere "subtle differences" for these guys). I wonder what they will come up with for German DDs? Well, if we can have cruisers without HE ammo, how about destroyers with no smoke? Even better, no torpedoes. -
On the premise that the quoted figure for HMS Belfast in the WG wiki is correct (11 km) and includes the supplied premium camo, then Concealment Module reduces this by 10%, and captain skill by 12%. These stack, so the final figure is 11 * 0.9 * 0.88 = 8.712 km , or to use the technical term "insane". EDIT Here's another thing to consider - invisifiring. The detection de-buff (in meters) is Base caliber of the guns * 30So for the 152mm guns on Belfast this is 152 * 30 = 4560.However, concealment modifies apply to this also, so with module and skills you get this down to 4560 * 0.9 * 0.88 = 3611.52 (call it 3612)So detectability while firing should be 8712 + 3612 = 12.324 km The range of the main battery is 15.4 km. So you have a goldilocks zone of 15.4 - 12.324 = 3.076 km.
