(Spellfire and Gunships conversation) Things like the rate of fire also need to be taken into account. I used to think I could take on those lower graded artillery ships at a tier lower than my IJN DD, but then pow! They're firing rounds like there is no tomorrow and I'm taking artillery shells out my @rse!
-
I didn't say anyone was saying nerf the DDs! And I'm happy for CVs to be looked at to, if the stats indicate they need to. More than one ship can be looked at at a time.
-
If 'torpedoes are everywhere' and the video starts off with the acknowledgement that there is a Div of 3 DDs that will be playing together, then why did 4 ships cluster in the same area without the DD that is with them scouting? If you look at the map the other group of ships are even tighter lol. Also at 4.30 mins it seems that the green team are firing as many torps as the red team do 10 secs later, so the battle has a lot of torps rather than a lot of artillery, why is that so unfair? For ages when there were a lot of non DD ships, DDs had to skirt around the edges firing off torpedoes hoping to hit home; isn't it the same for the bigger ships now there are larger numbers of DDs (ie they have to wait for their DDs/aircraft to scout just like the DDs had to hope for friendly support if they were spotted). The problem seems that 'some' do not like the smallest ship being able to kill any larger ship in the game. It is a game and every ship should have a chance of defeating any other ship if they play well enough; and they can! The stats do not indicate a massive issue at any tier at the moment; granted that if they did, then that would help with the argument that things should change.
-
Totally agree. If there are equal numbers of DDs let them slug it out and provide close support for your own DDs if your a CA. However, wildly varying numbers of a certain class can make a game horrible.

As an IJN DD player I am supposed to be able to launch my torpedoes without being seen! However sometimes I am not able to travel in a straight line continually firing my torpedoes; why? Some enemy ships change direction or anticipate where I might be and close in on me, this is unfair. A DD should be able to counter all ships, if they are close enough (within weapons range then!); yet I have to turn away or be seen. The enemy also use spotter planes and CV aircraft, AGAIN making me have to change my course. I have already stated I want to travel in a straight line So what happens when I do get to fire my torpedoes? I have to wait anything up to 3 minutes for a reload, and if the enemy ship changes course my torpedoes miss! AND if I get seen....A WALL of torps artillery comes flying in my direction. Again this is unfair (as Ectar says DDs are probably the hardest ship to play with, they're so fragile); 1 volley could kill me. Sometimes there can be as many as 6 ships firing at me at the same time; I can't even see half of them, half way across the map. Plus their artillery reload is faster than my torpedo reload. And don't talk to me about team play; I'm always on the team that can't play as a team and the enemy side are always the better team. I know this sounds like a whinge but it isn't really. I mean, no other ship class has to put up with 1) Having to change course. 2) Being hit by a wall of artillery. 3)Can be killed with one shot. 4) Their can be up to 6 different ships firing at you. 5) You can't do anything back because of your range. When I play DDs I would like other ships limited so I don't get the wall of artillery coming in and I would like a consumable that completely cloaks me (because IJN DDs should be stealthed; yes I know there are Captain skills that warn me of incoming fire but I shouldn't be seen!). Having to change course, not being able to continually fire , having to face a wall of fire unable to do anything back and being spotted by aircraft. WG thank god you buffed the torpedoes, as this will address all the above. Yes, I am taking the [edit] Life is hard, but let's wait for a change to happen before complaining about it.
-
I say wait to see what the torpedo speed buff brings when balanced with the nerf to distance. No point in complaining just yet; we haven't even seen what the change will be, let alone had a chance to see how it plays.
-
Yep, but unless I'm told that the weekly mission pearl count is going to change, I will expect it to remain identical to the previous 2 weeks.
-
I have 164 pearls. With 2 weekly missions to go (57 pearls each), makes 278. Don't have to do the CA, BB or CV missions.

Pffft, no apologies needed my friend. Most of us will have regrets about past decisions, as hindsight is a wonderful thing. I was just being truthfull when giving my example. I can be pretty confident about my decision as premium ships aren't overly better than any other ship, so being happy at the tier/class level I am at the moment, I should stick to it. But you're right, never say never; something could change(?)

A lot of pyschological insight that I think is fascinating lol. I bought a boat for money that is now available for free, so I don't intend to make that error again. All I wanted to say is that that is my choice. The mind changes as things around it change. I think you have wrongly read too much into what I thought was a simple statement. I appreciate my time on the couch though; it's not going to cost me anything is it?
-
Not too sure on what side of the fence you sit (), but... although I agree it happens, I do not believe it is anywhere near as bad usually. It is probably the kill 'X' ship missions and the fact players are feeling the loss of that kill more, that is causing the frustration. Usually it is no more than a 'damn' from me if I just happen to luck out on marking up another kill; and then it's on to the next target The assist system you describe sounds good though.

I was not indicating that I agree with WGs approach to treating the servers differently, in fact I have stated in other threads that, altogether, it would make much more sense to offer a wider choice to capture a wider audience (or customer base). I have also stated that, above all, if people think they are being treated 'fairly' then loyalty to the game will stay strong. However, regardless of what WG do, it still remains the choice of the individual on whether they wish to purchase (or not) additional items in a F2P game; that choice remains and is different to whether the 'choices' offered by WG are fair or not (as you indicate, that can be decided by how many people stay with the game and how many walk away). To give an example I happily bought the Fujin bundle 3 months ago and was satisfied with that purchase; my choice. This month WG decide to give away the Fujin free to many through Project R; now to me my purchase in Oct 15 seems a total waste of money. Do I think I have been treated 'fair' by WG? No. However, in making that decision do I think WG have been fairer in the treatment to players on the EU server (compared to how they were being treated in relation to the other servers)? Yes. As a result many more people on the EU server are happier, but I won't even consider buying a single ship from the shop now; again, my experience and my individual choice.
-
Point well made; the game is F2P with the option for those that wish to pay for certain elements. An individuals choice.

As long as some made it to the 260+ why would it be a great fail? the fail seems to be with those who believe that this isn't a mission that they could be successful in, or not. And on these forums there is always a fire; that would be nothing new!

Definitely, I'd love people to play as a team; whatever team wins or loses I'm sure they will have had a better game if there own team support each other. And it does happen as I have played several games where it has worked really well. I guess I should say thank you to those players as I was lucky to team up with them, rather than someone like yourself who doesn't consider the possibility of playing as a unit. 'Live with it'? Ummm, I'm alive and still playing so I guess I'm living with it, strange statement but sounds very 'old style' grown up (be a man!). Agreeing with an OP and understanding his frustration about a part of the game shouldn't be a problem; it's one person's opinion (you don't even have to agree). You are happy that a player in your team will do nothing to help during a battle but get the last shot in to take the kill at the expense of yours or your team mate's HP. That's cool and understandable as you don't consider playing as a team to be a viable option. We'll have to agree to disagree but I respect your point of view.
-
I get it but, oh dear, you don't do you. Put simply: 1. Everyone on both sides agree it is a team game. No arguement. 2. Nobody gives a hoot about who has the last shot. No arguement. If you had read the posts from the OP then you would see the circumstances leading to the last shot and the fact that some people are letting team mates take fire in order to get the kill (hence the kill stealing title) is the main issue here. 3. So yes it does matter how it happens if team mates are letting you take damage instead of helping! Do you get it now lol? No one has disagreed your points; because you have not replied to the OPs points specifically. That is why I have indicated that there are 'no arguements' to your statements, because your comments haven't addressed the OPs points (until point 3). Unless you're happy to have team mates that don't play as a team? And have yourself a little slappy forehead fish too (you deserve it) lol
-
I'm genuinely sorry that you did what anyone would expect a team mate to do and got nothing but crap for your efforts. Like those that have had the opposite happen and been left out to dry so that someone can secure the kill, it's a good example of those players out there that don't play as a team. Thankfully there are far fewer of them than good players.
-
Except that is not the complaint . The complaint is the exact opposite; people are not shooting at any target, instead they are waiting and letting a team mate take fire so they can get the last shot in. Am I really the only one that has read the posts of those airing their frustration lol. Who said they were going to smash their keyboard; or was that for dramatic effect? Oh, and why use the 'someone stole my thunder' line; I thought there was no stealing in this game?

Toxicity in game... can it be adressed? Should it be adressed by wargaming? Sugestions?

I believe that only changes your view. Found that out when I changed my colour to standard grey but my team started asking me what the hell was wrong with my ship camouflage!
-
Correct, which is why I want the Halloween and New Years camouflage patterns changed.
-
You obviously don't read posts then lol. If you did you would see that those talking about kill stealing also wish people would fire at the enemy, ALL the time! What has been indicated is that people are holding back until the right time to deliver the final shot. So happy you agree.

OK, new problem. I finished last week on 107. That's 57 weekly points. 20 Tier II-V points (FRAGS). 25 Research. 5 Win 10 games as DD. This week has started. Still shows 107 pearls but also shows the first 2 WEEKLY battles completed already (Win 1 battle/win 5 battles). That's 7 pearls missing; come on WG!

I agree, as drastic as making a statement that it doesn't exist. @ Arakus: if you can kill an enemy and do it great; no one is arguing this point. If you can kill someone but don't, allowing another team mate to take damage while you come in at the last minute to secure a kill for some mission you are on. Well, I believe that is what people are labelling kill steal; as stated probably the wrong phrase for it (being an A-hole better fits; hence people being frustrated). If you haven't come across this then fine, you're lucky. Or maybe you are one of the players that does this and thinks it's is fine (not much we can do about that either). Edit: not saying you are by the way. @ ColonelPete: Good use of the dictionary and probably a valid point with many non-UK residents on the forum. For our friends outside of the UK, you may hear many people say 'It's a steal' if they get a bargain in a shop or manage to get something without making or putting in a lot of effort. 'I've made a killing' is another phrase used, like 'kiss my @ss'; of course I neither killed anyone or expect you to kiss my A; it's just what we call slang, meant to convey a meaning. As for coming in to assist a team mate, I don't think anyone would argue with that; even when they get the kill (they have just saved you after all). I have thanked team mates for their assistance many times when they've saved me from death. I've even asked them if they could spare a couple of minutes to remove a few artillery shells from my @ss from my last engagement! (Warning: liberal use of slang again, to this date I do not believe anyone has really died during this game or had shells fired into their @ss. (I'm sure most people understand this)).

Agree the camo is bad, but not as bad as the Christmas wrapping paper and Halloween Fujin. It's like some college student decided to get creative and someone and WG said 'yeah, that's different'. Blaaarghhh!
