Yay. Thanks, nice one. When will 0.9.12 hit (snowflake event)? When will the gift containers be available in the shop? When will you publish the list of the 107 ships we can get in the containers if we're lucky? -Fes

You can test the ships in Coop if you're affraid you will "ruin" the game play for others. Scharnhorst is an AWESOME T7BB, it's a bit different from the tech tree siblings as the caliber is lower and it's secondaries aren't as useful. It's more of a battle cruiser than a battle ship. But paired with hydro and good torpedoes it's a formidable ship. Also, I would definetively play it in randoms to grind captain exp and gold. These days, the quality of players (myself included) is not much to brag about, there's little to no cooperation and there is no incentive for it either. WG should do a rework of the exp and gold reward mechanic as it's stupid now (but that's a discussion for another thread). I suspect you either start a new cpt when you buy a ship or you move your current to the next tier when moving on (which is how you get a T19 cpt at T10, ish :-)), either way, a premium is a nice way to train your captain, so I would absolutely reccomend you to play your T7 in random, be warned though. You will face T9, then you should play your shiny horse as a cruiser, NOT a bb.. -Fes

Jeeze. how hard is English to understand? It's every year, It's written in PLAIN english, you need the original ships, NOT the black ships, to do the missions.!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet WG does this and then at their christmas party they show the most hilarious complaints. Seriously, I've done something similar myself, not read it properly, but I was the first poster, not even an excuse, but you should have read the 4 pages of text here before you managed to complain..

Not entirely true, he gets the mission, but he failed to see the requirements for the mission: You can ONLY do this with the non-B version of Tirpitz. It's a way to get monkeys like me to shell out year after year for the same ships.. You know, I have the last 2 bundles of ships, but this year, I thought, you know what? Nahhhhhh I have too many ships. The crates have 2 items worth 1250 dubs (camoflage both of them) and two worth more (35k free exp is 1400 doubloons with 25:1, worse with 35:1 :-)) and 14 days = 2500 doubloons. The prizes are of course the black ships.. But, just based on the extremely poor drop chance.. about 5% for a ship, this is not worth it at all. And the compensation rules are slightly odd.. you can get the ships you have but will only receive 2500 doubloons as compensation, right... This is much worse than the already crap compensation rules.. Morale? STAY AWAY, DO NOT PURCHASE!!!!

    Arpeggio: "Fleet of Fog" Flagships

Not sure if I should laugh or cry, nothing is fair. End of statement. However, you can now shell out cash for something we had to work pretty damn hard at times to get, the grind back then was pretty intense... or well I never saw it as a grind, I enjoyed playing back then much more than now so I sort of felt it cost less than what it does to grind things now... -Fes

    Arpeggio: "Fleet of Fog" Flagships

We've been able to buy T10 premium outright almost since when they launched them the first time (the premium ones). Puerto Rico was available for doubloons and a super easy grind (if you spent the doubloons, you basically had to put zero effort into it). After that every coal, free exp and research bureau ship released have been available for cash some way or another (not directly, but buy doubloons and convert exp for free exp ships, buy containers for coal and well, free exp for research boats anyway). So this makes steel ships the rarest ships in game, because you can really only get it with ranked/clan battles and christmas snowflakes. What really irks me with this release of ARM yamato, is the inclusion of a module that is super rare. For new players that module is the equivalent of 2 branch resets, at the cheapest that's 675K EXP if you do a double Haragumo reset og 1.350M free exp if you have already spent your double and need to reset twice, MINIMUM. Doubloon wise that's 19286 doubloons with 35:1 ratio (and X2 reset bonus) at best and 54000 doubloons if you have to reset twice and do a 25:1 conversion. That alone makes the 56k bundle seem cheap. Let me put it like this, If I rather new in the game, and either was low on the IJN BB line or not started, but had already invested time and resources in the games to attain a certain level of understanding and skill. I would buy this outright, and if required just remove the camo look by the filters you have available. You have now skipped an entire line, no need to farm the legendary missions (which are somewhat tedious) and no need to push up through the ranks of IJN BB's, which admittedly is quite a good branch to level as the ships are not crap (I even like Izumo, especially after it got it's buffs). For the other bundle that costs even more, I'm even more appalled... I have all of those ships, all of the commanders as I did the missions (yeah I know people complain about the scarcity of Russian ships, but enough of us managed to do it, ironically I did most of my kills in my Kutuzov, which at that point were OP as hell), but as others have said this is feeling wrong. But hey, it's a business, if it didn't sell well, then..... -Fes

    Premium Shop: Singles' Day

Depressingly bad, credits and doubloons. Who do you have to sell bundles with 1 usable item and one utterly useless ? I know for new users this IS a good offer, but once you get to T8, credits is not really a problem if you don't mind grinding a bit. And once you learn to farm damage, you never think of credits again.. A year since the last doubloon sale, so I suppose that's another thing gone.. Ohh well, I supported the Charity thingy by rebuying Warspite, that was a good move, even if it was no discount (on the contrary you had to pay more for the ship than usual, suppose the flag and badge cost the extra couple of euros) it was for a good cause Once again I am amazed at the lack of will to create awesome offers, you could have had doubloon sales, made people burn cash to convert exp to absurdly overpriced ships for "free" exp. You could have had sales on all ships in stores, 11% is better than nothing, or 11.11% discount on the whole shebang. I doubt you would lose money on that. Instead we get a cold slice of pizza with flat, luke warm beer at a discount depending on serving size. Come on, please. But once again, saving money on my behalf ain't a bad thing, you just could have made money out of me, but now you wont... -Fes
  10. Talk about taking things out of context. First of, sample size. If you take all players (those hiding stats are irellevant as we cannot know what they're like or not) then the sample size is everyone (thus sample size is irellevant). IF you then complain that not all players do not have all ships, then you're also comparing apples and pears and once again it's irellevant. But the biggest issue here is when you start to divide by week, now we're talking sample size, and now we're talking criterias, what would be interesting to see is how win ratings on ships have changed over time, though what he has is the aggregate. Anyway, just having a glance at the Tier played it's interesting to see (and utterly useless) how much more T10 is played now (makes sense due to more ship lines being available and game being more mature thus more having T10 ships). Also, if you start excluding players that have a majority of the games in a boat just because their winrating in that boat is not what you want it to be, or you think is wrong, you are handpicking sample size, which is making ANY assumption based on your sample size 100% invalid. But oh well I cannot argue against fanbois, so, let's leave it at it. You didn't agree with my points, fair enough, at least statistics are on my side, for now. -Fes
  11. Sigh, I've had the pleasure or now it's rather the pain of having played Shimakaze before it got demolished by the "nerf bat" of WG. I remember usable torps and accepting an abysmal handling, hideous reload time of the torpedoes, mediocre guns and wallowing in having the best concealment. All of that is now left with: Worst torpedoes in game, sure they do a lot of damage, but you spot them from the dark side of the moon. They gave us E3 and said have fun, then they added 20 new radar and hydro boats to the game, voiding the usage of those torps. I remember a ship that filled a role, now, it's a trinket, there is no incentive left playing it. You get 0 exp for spotting for your team, you will very rarely get support, you will very often get reports if you not cap or spot. I am saddened by the fact that most battleships can easily avoid all my torps and that I have no say in the spread (out of 20 tripple drops with overlay during the last 5 or so games they all bunched the torpedoes together on top even though the spreads were perfect, they create a 2+3 gap which at 10km will pass a broadside montana (sliiight exaggeration :-)). The idea of a torpedo boat is killed when Halland arrived, it has better torpedoes on every account, but I hear the choier chiming "but Halland has so poor damage on it's fishes and 100m worse detection", right, but they are harder to dodge due to narrow spread and goes 20kn faster. Not to mention 15km range makes it possible to safely torp outside of radar range (12km) which you cannot in Shimakaze. Ahh did I mention 2min reload on torps when fully buffed vs hallands 1min 16s reload? Ahh did I mention halland shoots 3 salvoes for every one of yours? More HP and a heal? Yes, you have smoke in shimakaze, 3 lousy charges, halland has an AA rating that scares most CV's into leaving you alone, Shima is the file for any CV even T8 CVs have no problem tormenting that DD without risk of losing planes. Shima filled a role in competetive play, not anymore due to CV's being hard to balance in a 7v7 game, in random, nah. Not the way you reward the role it fills, because you get nothing for it. Capping gets you killed , last place, reports and wounded pride. Playing like a chicken, torping from a distance, trying to guess and hope that your torpedoes don't create a perfect slot (won't happen, but you still play the lottery hoping for the #1 price.. right?), yet you are rarely rewarded with a satisfied game. This was my first T10, I only play it to get the legendary module, then it'll be shelved until we need it for something odd like a CB without CV, but then a Gearing with the legendary module now can do that just as good, even better (it has decent AA, smoke, better torpedoes and much better guns). What is left then? Pain and depression. Please do something, the current state of the game is this: Don't invest, don't push, don't spot, don't cap. Hang back, torp from max distance, smoke em if you have em and don't invest, push, spot or cap! Ahh don't play a DD, no point, no exp if you play that role. Play a long distance cruiser, play a BB and you're more often rewarded than not. Capping and spotting being useful for you team and making sure a win is possible or more likely, heck even a major factor in securing that win? It's rewarded with bottom half, usually lower part of that half. Will anything come of this post? Yeah, feeling better for ranting, I am not a major voice, nor voicing the majority of players. Players seems quite content in the stagnant game play Wows has become. Can I recommend the game? NO, not anymore. -Fesvil, former Shimakaze fanboi.

The Virtual Fleet Week — Highlight Reel

He he.. boy are we all pretty negative now :-). I don't like this all that much (being that negative, even if I am good at it), so here's some positives. WG does give a lot of "free" stuff. I write in "" as it's only free in the sense that you don't have to pay money, but then again you invest time which is worth way more than money. So what is it we get for free, that doesn't require you to invest anything but time: 3 containers every day if you play some matches. Events that can give good rewards, free ships, free permanent camouflages or free consumable camouflages and flags. Monthly running missions for steel, more flags, port slots, coal and what not. I don't get why people complain about the "Dockyard", I'll complain about the price to som extent, but the event itself is quite nice. If you don't care a fiddle about the ships, you can get a lot of free (and even other ships for free) stuff by just playing. And yes, all of the Dockies have been grind fests. I know of at least 2 players in my close circle of "gaming buddies" that farmed the Puerto for free, even had days to spare. And they didn't play like Flamu said you had (several hours per day) at all (even had days off). But that's a side note to all this and way off topic. I'll watch the stream with half an eye.. I might be surprised. -Fes

Mistake my hairy bum, that's super easy to fix: refund those that paid money for it. Case closed. It wasn't a mistake, same as it wasn't a mistake to mess up the Christmas event some years ago with the Graf Spee when NA got tons and EU got the shaft. There's nothing new in this, it's been like it for years. That doesn't make it right nor is it fixed by them saying: yeah well that was a mistake. That's like saying: "Ok, it was a mistake to forget those scissors inside of you when we operated" and then be done with it. Fix it if it is fixable or don't cough up lame excuses. -Fes
  14. Fair points, but you cannot deny facts. Even if you say you do. What you prefer, however, may not reflect the facts. If I am to go by your argument then it means that you don't care about your stats and as such you are incapable of proving your point that shima is great.and that you do well in the boat.. That being said, statistics can be manipulated if you're talking about satistics that don't involve the whole. These stats are from all players, excluding those that have hidden their stats, on average that doesn't matter. But let's agree to disagree. You like the boat, I did and I'm not so sure I do any more. -Fes
  15. Hmm So, I am wrong, I don't mind being wrong and taught a lesson. But I must be misreading the statistics then (then I know I am not): Super hard to misread that one, please, let me know where I am wrong in saying Shimakaze requires something.. All 3 of you are on the other side of the statistics, even I am (marginally :-)), and I admit I'm not a great player. But seriously. 11.5 MILLION battles is a fairly decent statistical basis.. Worst of all in Win Rating, 5th worst on damage (with the most hard hitting torpedoes in game (that seemingly don't hit all that much)) and frags per match, by far the worst in avg exp, worst in planes shot down (ignore steel ships in this, if not somers is worse) and 6th worst in kill/death ratio. If that's great, I wonder what you rate Småland, Hayate, Daring and Kleber as.. I'm not looking for an argument, but arguing based solely on own experience was poor on my behalf, I should have provided this statistics up front. -Fes

The Virtual Fleet Week — Highlight Reel

I loved the last one they did, but that one was a parade with allied ships and all that. This however is a wholly american event it seems. And they're so kind to give us 5 "this is your day commander" camouflages. Awesome! I love the segregation of markets, like how the US seemingly are the ones with a need for providing charitable assistance, where as the only thing I saw in Europe was a charity auction, where they auctioned away boats like Belfast and Missouri. In the US there's the veteran flag where you get 5% bonus to credits or captain exp or exp .. I've asked if WG wouldn't provide these sort of things elsewhere, but in classic WG style. Ignorance is bliss. There are so many ways to monetize this game, and they fail so hard every time. Well, at least I spend more money on diversity now, Steam, Gog, Origin, Uplay or Epic store.. They're all happy, and I'm all for spreading happiness. I'll log on to the stream, juuuust enough for the flags, whilst doing something else. I ain't complaining about freebies, but they could have been serious about that charity thing. WG is providing nada except some banal entertainment, they should have had sales on stuff where the money went to the charity, that would have meant something, been something.. But ahh well nahh..
  17. Hey, let me get the ships first :-)
  18. Wow, true on every account if all the user did was to spend free exp to "re-grind" the lines, but you clearly didn't pay attention, nobody said they spent the free exp they got to get the lines they reset, they re-grinded those lines to get 10/20k RP and then spent 12.5k RP to get 250k Free exp. which you can buy free exp ships for (quite a few of those in game right now). Without dragon flags Free exp is rather tedious to grind. You get some whilst leveling, especially from T8 -> T10, but nowhere near 250k unless you spend flags and camo. I don't get why they remove it, it makes no sense. That few used it, meh, so ? It doesn't cost you anything....... wait, indeed it does. The only reason they would remove it is because too many were using it, if it was a "novelty" then they would keep it to prove they provided diversity for users (to get free exp), but alas, they've started giving away RP for "free" if you just do your daily games.. So, they're now closing one more way to get Free exp, after getting all RP ships, what else todo with the RP you have? overpriced flags? HAHAHA.. I wholeheartedly agree with those complaining about it's removal. After the URL guy died (not irl, but here (not been a funny URL for ages)) WG has been hard on the press to squeeze players or, force players, into spending more for less. Best example is the "new" dock yard event with Hizen, you have to pay more for a T9 BB than you did for a T10 cruiser (Puerto Rico) if you want it as fast as possible and get worse rewards, but It's a matter of opinion. What you get out of the Hizen one, one will see, but greed has really overwhelmed WG, the price for a T9 BB, with a few trinkets on the way (still remains to see the specifics) is amazing, over 50k doubloons for a T9. That's the most expensive ship in this games history by a mile. Even more than the other 1M Free exp ones (remember, Hizen is T9, not T10, not spectacular if one is to trust previews). Anyway, whole lot of meh this year, which means less money spent here and more games on Steam/Gog. -Fes

    Free XP ships

Use "free exp" very carefully, it's the hardest resource to grind outside of steel unless you got lots of flags and rare camouflages. Regarding ships, there are a fair few to chose from, most of them bring something special to the game, but it all depends on what you want to play or like to play. BUT, lately, read last 2 years ish, WG has gotten more and more bent on milking it's players so the prices has gone through the roof. For new players this makes some of the ships (Hayate, Småland) pretty hard grinds (2.000.000 free exp) and most likely will not bring the farmer as much as Nelson for 375.000 will, or even Alaska for a cold mill at T9. Value for money, Nelson, hands down. I have played so long that free exp is no longer a big issue, so I spend my free exp to reset the lines for the research bureau and never run stock ships. Never use your "free exp" to level a captain. Once you get 1 T19 captain you will start getting plenty. Lastly, take my words with a grain of salt, I'm a grumpy old bastard feeling abandoned by WG, which kinda colours my responses. TL:DR, Ship for f.exp = Nelson, Do not waste f.exp on captains or skipping ships (unless you get depressed playing them, there are plenty of those). -Fesvil

The problem here for me is that last year and the year before I bought loads of these, sadly I think I even sold the camos I got, because that was primarily what I got. BUT I got a few duplicates in 2018 which netted me a lot of doubloons, much less in 2019 and now, WG have finally hammered it down. You NEVER will get duplicates and thus be reimbursed in doubloons (only possibility now is if the chest can ONLY contain ships and you have all it can contain). Sorry old timers, you've now done your duty, move along, let new people in... that won't receive any of the bonuses you've gotten, and just gets plain crap from day 1... Was it really that big of a money loss ?? I find that hard to believe, in fact I bet you lose money on that policy (but logic..... well)? I cannot be the only one that have cut my spending in this game to nearly nothing..? Based on your news for Christmas 2020 (which will be as crap as Christmas 2019, just worse because it's a rerun) I get to spend more on steam sales and Black Friday (not on WG, because you know, you don't need us old timers anymore, and for sure not our money). I didn't mind my crap luck in containers, I once in a while got a double ship so I got some bonus from investing all those money, but then you started shafting old timers by removing all discounts if you buy a bundle with a ship you have (the 20% you save are all deducted from the doubloon reimbursement) so you get 0% discount. I was even close to thinking about spending doubloons to get Minesota, but then I didn't... save the money.. Tech tree, might as well grind it to learn it and get the credits and captain exp whilst doing so.. Event's are getting a poor coat of paint and sold as new .. or not even that, just blow the dust of the 2018 or 2019 one and Tadaa.. Dockyards, right.. then you had to go and bedfuddle that one with Hizen, over 50k doubloons if you shell out (not counting any discounted bundles), thought the bonuses are nice. But as with all dockyards, it's a MASSIVE grind fest, going to take a whole lot of time, there are things to get, but seriously, I'd rather have 400 steel per level than 200 steel and 400 research points (or is it 600). Your losing fans WG, faster than you can recruit them,. You run recruiting schemes that are worse and worse every year. Guys, I KNOW you can do better, MUCH better. Even the twins on Thursdays seems less enthusiastic, you've alienated your best community leads and you're not growing the game as it should be. Seems like I am doing the right thing and not investing more in this dying game.. sad days... :-( -Fesvil

Btw, my "personal" mission was 3 steps, first and second yielded 600 and the last 300, completion 1050. Total 2550 tokens. Anyone else got better missions (mine are 4100 base exp for the two first and 3800 for the last)?

To be honest @YabbaCoe, This is at best wooly and unclear. How is this to be interpreted if you do not specify anything? How am I to know if I am being slapped with a hard mission for lots, hard missions for naught or easy missions for loads or easy missions for naught.. What's the max, median and min? Nice to know though, not that I intend to buy any tokens anyway, but still. Find the price for the Florida super depressing, but hey, who am I to complain, really, I get a lot of good flags and abysmal camo for free so. Happy with this? Sure, free stuff is free stuff. Happy with this staged release of "free" ships? Not at all a fan, delaying what is available by 2 months extra just to try and milk some cash out of people is fair if it's well made, but this one ain't. Sorry. What's wrong with the event? Mediocre ships without much of a soul if we're to trust the majority of testers and players that post their remarks and from meeting them in battle (they do not provide much except nice target for HE spammers form 20km+ away (so slow even my grandma can hit them in a Colbert shooting from max distance (where shots take 3 bus rides and a small stroll before they arrive)). Then you have these super sad and over priced bundles, that provide 100k credits (which in this game is rather easy to get and you will, even when playing rather poorly make that per match), 2 x 6 regular flags / 2 x 5 Dragon/special flags and 1500 Tokens. 1k doubloons for that is just... sad. No other word for it. if you buy containers (that you sell) you get better deals with potential MUCH better deals (and guaranteed better flags). No idea who came up with that price, but, sorry, it's just so lack luster, there's no energy, no excitement. Ohh flags, really, no coal? Steel? random chance for boats? Camouflages (permanent kind)? You could have sold so much, yet you fall through. This event and the autumn festival thing made my wallet super happy, my thoughts for the commercial part of the game were depressing. :-). Anyway, thanks for the free stuff, not going to spend a dime on the junk that's for sale :-). -Fes

Boy have the offers gotten worse, or rather, too similar. You never have doubloon sales, you rarely have specials. You usually have 1 ship (mostly mediocre) with these loathsome packs, no special offers or discounts except if you shell out 80€, can't even remember last time I was excited about your "specials"..... :-(, missions each week are laughable at best, you do shine sometimes though, but less and less. I keep hoping for the golden olden days.. alas I fear it's not getting better ...

    Ranked Battles: the Eighteenth Season

Ohhhh Ranked is a massive source for ulcers, anxiety, anger, frustration, depression, swearing, mashing keyboards (or other objects not meant to be mashed) and steel :-). If you want R1, just play, almost all players can reach R1, me as average Joe, no problem. All it takes is time and your ability to be a douche if you team consists of players with mush for brains (quite common). BB's polishing their neighbors helmet in spawn is more common than shells missing your ship, when they're done, about when half your team is having tea with Davy Jones, they waddle in and do kills and damage enough to secure that star, frustrating, when you have 200k spotting damage in a DD and a couple of caps and perhaps 30k in torp damage due to the other team having 3 radars and 6 hydro boats (or when you push in a tanky cruiser and get nobody to come along and push out that single Stalingrad).. Then you try to educate a Hinden player that AP against the bow on a Stalingrad is pretty daft and futile, then he wants to cuddle up to him so he can use his 6km torps (which he first tried to use from 10km away......) at which point I have managed to HE punish the Stalingrad down to 10k and he sees an opportunity to ram the full HP hindenburg.. The stories are more or less the same, you ping the map, you ask for help, you ask for ANY for of communication or at least some sort of acknowledgement that they have indeed understood you and think it a sound idea... Nothing, I could be sailing alone and not know about the other team members, because they sure as hell don't know others exists. You aren't awarded for playing as a team, you get virtually nothing, you could spot the entire team, torp them to make sure they show broadside, cap all caps. You still won't be even close to a brainless oaf that has camped in his portapotty the entire time and just lobbed 20000000 shells and hit with 50 of them, enough to do 100k damage, perhaps even sunk a poor dinghy.. So, the game in its current state rewards monkey crap socially distanced and mentally retarded play style that is sadly so prevalent in ranked... I won't get into the CV discussion, whilst I may disagree with Execute plan 66, I agree with him on that. Bottom line, want R1, just play and be prepared to learn to ignore players, chat and try to be a team player. Rarely you get rewarded, but when you do, it's just so frickin rewarding.. Not sure I'll do R10. Hope WG provides another source of Steel outside of Ranked and Clan battles.. Now go sink a monkey! -Fes

    U.S. Battleships: Early Access

I really loved the Transformers one, I even more love this one, no money spent.. I would have bought a bundle with special flags if it was the first, but it was regular flags and 100k credits.. Pooooooooooor deal for 1000 dubs.. So yeah, really love these events, going to save the money on this one, ofc would have wasted 1000 if T9 was the first one and as I said some dragon flags, but regular flags? Nah, I got a plethora of those. Anyway, this staggered release schedule really is just shiny beads and pearls for the hordes, let it be. And I can just take care of CB, and Dockyard and not give a hoot about american mess... might invest some time to get the T8 unless they really require a lot of work..
