Will the RN cruiser make high tier battles worse?
creamgravy replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
They have heavily nerfed unarmoured sections. E.g. All tier 8-10 cruisers have 16mm superstructure and 25mm hull 'armour'. Light cruisers and destroyers can only damage the superstructure of tier 8-10 cruisers, effectively making them battleships to small calibre HE. RN tier 8-10 CLs have 13mm superstructure and 16mm hull 'armour'. This means they'll get wrecked by any calibre HE shells. (Note: this has nothing to do with real values just 'balanced' game mechanics in exchange for smoke I assume) -
Well, I can't stand the NO anymore. It's been junked and the captain has been dismissed, there's zero payoff for sailing it. They need to buff HE to 3200-3500 per shell for me to buy it back.

Cruisers are becoming more and more pointless
creamgravy replied to bloodynicknames's topic in General Discussion
HE is dumb and only has one penetration rule. That's why it's so reliable. Do your HE shells overmatch the armour section? No > 0 damage. Yes > 33%, 16.5% or 0 damage depending on compartment state (fresh, blackened, depleted) This game is designed around calibre progression and the 'unarmoured' sections of a ship will correspond to levels of HE protection. Battleship unarmoured sections: Tier 5 battleships = 19mm hull and 13mm superstructure. Tier 6-7 battleships = 25.5mm hull and 16mm superstructure. Tier 8-10 battleships = 32mm hull and 19mm superstructure. HE shell penetration (typically 1/6 the calibre) 120mm guns can damage 19mm armour or less. 130mm guns can damage 21mm armour or less. 152mm guns can damage 25mm armour or less. (Note: Cleveland HE can't damage 25.5mm armour sections) 155mm guns can damage 26mm armour or less (Note: Mogami HE can damage 25.5mm armour sections) 203mm guns can damage 34mm armour or less. Conclusion. 120mm, 130mm and 152mm HE is functionally identical agasint tier 6-10 battleships. They can only damage the superstructure. 155mm acts like 203mm agasint tier 6-7 battleships but can only damage the superstructure of tier 8-10 battleships. 203mm HE can damage most battleship sections, especially ones with the 'all or nothing' armour scheme. (German BBs with more armour have muddied the water a bit) -
Outrageously bad HE damage against BBs with IJN 203mm HE
creamgravy replied to kantkantian's topic in General Discussion
Just aim for the massive superstructure. A huge chunk of damage should come from fire too. -

8" HE can't damage Bismarcks deck armour (50mm) or parts of the fore/aft ends (60mm) You can only damage 34mm armour or less. -
Star shell spammers?

My New Orleans already has a 5.5 second rudder shift, reducing it to 3 seconds for a free 5 point commander skill is utter madness. They have no idea do they?

[IJN DDs] Why are higher tier DDs so weak?
creamgravy replied to anonym_PYC0RAuRIwe4's topic in General Discussion
Wrong way round. It's like fitting the Wyoming with Montana guns. -
[IJN DDs] Why are higher tier DDs so weak?
creamgravy replied to anonym_PYC0RAuRIwe4's topic in General Discussion
There are no torpedo boats at higher tiers just noobs that play destroyers as torpedo boats. -
Chapayev has the best AA at tier 8. 78dps at 5km is more usable than the Hippers 100dps at 4.5km, you could turn her into a AA monster. Mogami, Edinburgh and New Orleans are crippled by history, 1930s AA is junk compared to Russian 1950s kit. Poor old New Orleans only gets 58dps at a pathetic 4.2km. She also has excellent AP and powerful yolo torpedoes too.

keep st petersburg port, its BEAUTIFUL + add London
creamgravy replied to lethalbizzell's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, we need a German port asap. 1st choice: Kiel canal (any time period) - Very famous for all those warships (inc RN and US) passing through. 2nd choice: Wilhelmshaven dockyards (WW1) - Very industrial, ship yards and cranes everywhere. Then somewhere in the UK next. 1st choice: Firth of Forth (WW1) - Maybe with the Grand Fleet in the background. 2nd choice: Malta (1930s) - Only Taranto can match it for beauty and history. -
Will the RN cruiser make high tier battles worse?
creamgravy replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Notser has a video showing the RN voice overs > Most of it was long range spam behind the top right island (15km+), the arcs are better than Cleveland. Unfortunately no Cleveland HE DOT reward and I saw lot's of bounces agasint angled ships Shooting only one ammo type is super depressing and boring too -
Benson is the best tech tree cruiser you can use in ranked/team. If you must...

Do IJN Destroyers really need yet another nerf?
creamgravy replied to BloodRose13's topic in General Discussion
Tier 4-5 is getting a nerf. Tier 6-9 is getting a HUGE buff. (going on the leaks) -

Does anyone know why we can't have a line of light cruisers without gimmicks? -
It's the Type 92 torpedoes that are the problem, not the boats.

Aerroons videos have got much better.
-
Hood and Rodney would make great Commonwealth premiums.

I'd like to see her at tier 8 once they fix the citadel hit box.
-
This is how I see it. Tier 1 = Tutorial. Tier 2-4 = Fun mini game. Tier 5-7 = Main game. Tier 8 = End game. (competitive solo/team/clan modes etc) Tier 9-10 = Fun mini game.

Scumbag battleship line? I like it! -
I remember my first time shooting a Taiho with a DD. <mind blown> Thank goodness destroyer captains don't have to face Illustrious or Implacable.
-
No change. HE is dumb 120-130mm HE already does max damage (0-33%) to 20mm+ armour regardless of angle. This is to help 100mm guns (Akazuki, BB secondaries etc) damage the same 19mm sections too.

Rules of Gearing torp club. 1st rule. Never talk about Gearing torpedoes. 2nd rule. NEVER talk about your torpedoes to ANYONE! 3rd rule. If a Montana says "stop" or goes limp the fight is over. 4th rule. Only 2 DDs to a fight. 5th rule. Leave those worthless Shimakaze cowards to wonder around the map trying to torp a camping Hindenburg from 20km. They're not worth fighting. 6th rule. Torps will be spammed as long as they have to.

From Reddit: "New Orleans" armour scheme is wrong...
creamgravy replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
New Orleans has very limited weapons. (Useless HE DPM, situational AP, short range AA and no torpedoes) It's always going to be bottom of the pile.
