I though the alpha piercing HE value was changed so that it could pen 19mm sections, otherwise it's pointless changing it from the default 17mm. (WOWS 'armour' is done by chunks/tier at 13mm, 16mm, 19mm, 25mm and 32mm) A well angled tier 8 destroyer will be fairly immune to Akizuki guns if it can't damage the hull with AP or HE.
-
Tier 8+ cruisers and battleships are immune to Hakuryuu's secondaries. Tier 8+ destroyer hulls are also immune, Hakuryuu can only damage their superstructure. Akizuki guns do 1200 damage and can damage tier 8+ cruiser/BB superstructure. They're completely different guns even though they're ....the same.

Nothing to see here. Bismarck player with high winrate wants destroyers nerfed for total domination.
-
9 seconds to 12.4km is great. Here's the time to 12km for the other tier 8 destroyers. Benson: 10.45 Fubuki = 9.2 Tashkent : 7.35

I played my 155 Mogami in ranked for the 100% captain XP mission. (C-hull with a 12 point captain agasint the top 150 players at the time) Going after destroyers isn't enough in this 3-4 battleship meta, they don't counter the powerful tier 8 battleships. You need to average 65-80k agasint those battleships in addition to fighting any DD/cruisers (sideshow) to really help win/carry games. A full concealment A-hull build should be good for this task

Just how ridiculous DD's really are, DD's fans i laugh at you

I wish more players in WOWS had the bravery of Lieutenant Commander Roope or skill of Kapitän zur See Heye http://ww2today.com/captain-of-hms-glowworm-wins-first-vc-of-the-war -
Ranked Battles S5 [all rank battle topics merged]

Can I request a strategy guide for the new maps? Trident and Neighbors always produce interesting game. -
Akatsuki looks very powerful but Shiratsuyu should be the best scout of tier 7.

Warspite or Bayern secondary build for Ranked
creamgravy replied to Nargoth73's topic in General Discussion
I didn't even get to play tier 6 ranked this season. Warspite needs the Manual Fire Control for the secondary build. Gaining 15% accuracy is absolutely vital for being able to sit slightly angled/bow on to drive back DDs, wreck cruisers and burn BBs. It's almost a tier 6 Bismarck. Otherwise secondaries are just a gimmick at this level. -
An Educated Guess of RN & VMF Battleship Ballistics
creamgravy replied to fnord_disc's topic in Battleships
How about the 18" BL Mark I from HMS Furious. A 8crh HE shell should make her the biggest scumbag at tier 4. http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNBR_18-40_mk1.php -
i LOVE ranked battles... but the grind!
creamgravy replied to rafparis's topic in General Discussion
Every ranked season. Day 1: Charge, don't worry lads I'll solo the entire team like in Random battles. Oh, I'm dead. Day 2: The skill level is much higher so play sensibly this time. GG. Day 3: Lot's of interesting competitive games. GG. Day 7: Hmm, 1 afk, 1 grinding a stock Tashkent and skybuck in a strike Lexi on my team. GG. Day 8: Back to casual games. -

Are there any stats for competitive clan wars? From what I've seen (might be wrong) North Carolina = Best defender. (Sit in smoke, defend cap, eat planes, tank damage bow on. Competition from KGV next year?) Bismarck = Best attacker. (Spearhead any push and flank with DDs/cruisers. Replaced Tirpitz and Amagi, both are still good) -
WG Killed the khaba. Do NOT ever free XP it, don't even try to grind it, it ain't worth it.
creamgravy replied to adanhael's topic in Destroyers
Put that 50mm armour to use and go brawl with some cruisers, a large part of your hull is immune to 8" HE. (Gearing with AFT if fine if you want a 3x4 AA support ship) -

I think it's great, pure cheese. -
Zao is from a 1980s comic, it's not the best example.

I just wasted 2 mill trying it on the Hipper. Fear my OP 5.1 second rudder shift and 740m turning radius!

Will the RN cruiser make high tier battles worse?
creamgravy replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
We shouldn't include "Commonwealth" ships in a discussion about Royal Navy cruisers. They're a completely different "faction" with "different" ships. "Commonwealth" cruisers are historic "HE spammers" built from very different designs. Royal Navy ships never carried this so called "HE" ammo. Any resemblance between HMS Leander and "Commonwealth" ship Perth is pure coincidence. https://thearmoredpatrol.com/2016/09/29/wows-supertest-new-hmas-perth-stats/ -

You might be right. Akatsuki has insane torpedo output and HE DPM is higher than both Blys and Lenin. *final stats subject to change*- 19 replies

Umikaze has a 25mm belt too, it's more heavily armoured than a Gearing or Shimakaze. I've seen cruisers try and pound them with HE the entire match for very little damage.

Cruisers are becoming more and more pointless
creamgravy replied to bloodynicknames's topic in General Discussion
This x 10000. My last 20 New Orleans games have been suicidal, the effort/reward for that ship is nuts. IJN cruisers are rewarding to play though. Stealth, speed, torpedoes and great HE are proper payoffs. No-one is going to take slightly better rudder shift over 10% concealment. Ever. And if they do then fantastic! As a DD I can spot them much, much sooner. -

Don't forget WG are changing the way smoke works in the future. Battleships won't be able camp and shoot out etc. It could end up being a gimped consumable. -
Will the RN cruiser make high tier battles worse?
creamgravy replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
RU = Great HE, great AP. IJN = Best HE, average AP. KM = Best AP, bad HE. US = Bad HE, average AP. RN = No HE, meh AP. RM = No HE, no AP. -
T7 RU Premium Leningrad: Great Ship, Awkward Captain
creamgravy replied to Pupu_prpr's topic in Destroyers
Destroyers typically want a turret traverse of 18-20 seconds to enable full rudder shift dodging with target tracking. You'll have to 'flatten out' for 1-4 seconds occasionally with a 23.5s turret traverse but that should be enough for Random battles. It's possible to drop TAE for EM on a high end RU DD flank build if you want the Leningrad for competitive games. 3x4 - http://shipcomrade.com/skillcalc/01000000010010011100000000 T8-10 Flanker - http://shipcomrade.com/skillcalc/01100010010010001000000100 Leningrad ranked - http://shipcomrade.com/skillcalc/01100100010010001000000100- 19 replies
