Algérie, Henri IV and Duca d'Aosta preliminary stats

A stealthier, more manoeuvrable Russian cruiser with slightly worse guns is fine but I'm sure it'll have something. Maybe the AP will get a special feature to make up for the poor HE, like a 20mm fuse or a high Krupp value (See Tuccy's comment)

and the Jury is in on the Grozovoi

    Here's an interesting table for AA capability without defensive fire. This shows the probability (%) for shooting down a Midway bomber every second (maxed out AA unless specified) Range (km) Neptune Z-52 Grozovoi Gearing Leander Grozovoi (stock) 8.6 10.4 0 0 0 0 0 7.2 23.2 11.8 7.6 6.8 4.3 0 5.1 41.5 18.8 15.5 12.1 6.7 2.3 2.9 48.1 18.8 17.1 16.3 9.8 6.8 For example. Neptune as a 23% chance to shoot down a plane every second between 5.1km and 7.2km. Yikes. A stock Grozovoi with a lazy captain only has a 2% chance between 3.1km and 5.2km. Useless.

Duca D'aosta for release as premium

Every time a new tier 6 cruiser comes out it gets compared to tier 8 Cleveland and Budyonny (which has been balanced to compete with it) Duca looks like a stealthy Molotov with good manoeuvrability and solid guns. Good luck hitting one at 13-14km.

Duca D'aosta for release as premium

Yes, it's from the Asian supertest server.

Algérie, Henri IV and Duca d'Aosta preliminary stats

    AP is about average, here's a 10km pen comparison. Leander = 118mm Duka = 122mm Budyonny = 138mm I don't think anyone will take speed boost over a heal.

Duca D'aosta for release as premium

Many seem to think Muzio had bow/stern stripes, is that where it came from? Who's got the best looking camo, Muzio or Duca?

    Royal Navy Tech Tree Proposal

I view the C class as a Sims with less gun power but better torpedo output. A fast, flexible and dependable support destroyer. Excellent turret traverse (9 seconds) Excellent firing arcs (X turret can rotate 360) Good fire chance (better than Sims, about the same as Mahan B hull) Good AP (Unknown but it should be reliable) Good AA (6-8 DPS per RP50 Mark V mount seems fair?) Poor DPM. (skirmish and fires only) Poor HE penetration (IFHE is needed to pen tier 8+ ships) Poor ballistics (Sky high arcs like US guns) Sims has the best tier 7 destroyer AA by a country mile but I think the C class should be good alternative depending on how they rate the RP50 Mk V turret.

and the Jury is in on the Grozovoi

45% per second is amazing. 15% per second without dAA is also very good. Here's a good example. Sims with fully upgraded long range AA and defensive fire (341 DPS) vs Saipan bombers (2058 HP) = 18% per second. You won't 'melt' planes like a cruiser but Sims will shoot down a good chunk before they drop and average 20-30 planes per game. The maximum was 1396 before the nerf.

and the Jury is in on the Grozovoi

You can still get over 1000 AA DPS and everything should change after the much hyped CV update.

    Royal Navy Tech Tree Proposal

With the recent changes WG have gone back to general calibre HE values for destroyers and use reload times to balance. There's nothing to suggest the RN will get a faction specific ammo like German high AP/low HE. Here's my rough DPM calculations based on accuracy between KM and US ballistics, it seems well balanced to me.
  12. Those Russian cruisers are very long, is the short 171.8m length for Duca d'Aosta listed correct? What happens if she has a ~650m turning circle with a sub 9km surface detection like Leander? At 36.5 knots it'll be very hard to hit at 12km.
  13. Wahoo a Condottieri! There's absolutely nothing wrong with tier 6 MM, farm those BBs tears in style! Wonder how it'll match up to La Galissonnière? Well, it's more accurate than the camo on Perth.

    French cruiser next it seems

Looking forward to Émile Bertin and La Galissonnière. Although König players are going to have a field day. How is this line going to be different to German cruisers? Faster and....??? HE spamming light cruisers with smoke was way too much on mass, best to hide it behind a pay/skill wall.

"Special" Modules for Ranked Rewards is wrong.

Most of them are actually quite good. Only the 'meh' spotter and utterly useless AA are disappointing. I need a truck load of speed boosts and a few more smokes and hydros for my ships.

The Emergency War Programme Destroyer Debate

    4.7" guns = torpedo line. They're essentially a more flexible but less devastating Shiratsuyu, very similar gun DPM too. 10km Mk IX** torpedoes are fine. 4" and 4.5" guns = support line. DP and IFHE needed at high tiers. (I think Cavalier will get her final config with a Seacat SAM launcher!) Tier Destroyer Class Guns Torpedoes AA (close/mid/far) Consumable Line 6 Pakenham O/P 4 or 5 x 4" Mk V 4x1 or 2 Mk IX 21 / 14 / 13.5 Defensive AA, great smoke Support 7 Caprice Ch to Cr 4 x 4.5" Mk IV RP50 4x1 or 2 Mk IX* 7 / 54 / 32 Defensive AA, great smoke Support 8 Battleaxe Weapon 6 x 4" Mk XVI 5x2 Mk IX* 17.5 / 70 / 54 Defensive AA, great smoke Support 6 Escapade A to H 4 x 4.7" Mk IX 4x2 Mk XI* 4.4 / 15 / 0 Speed Boost Torpedo 7 Scorpion S/T/U/V/W 4 x 4.7" Mk XII 4x2 Mk IX** 28 / 18 / 0 Speed Boost Torpedo 8 Jackal J/K/N 6 x 4.7" Mk XII 5x2 Mk IX** 18.4 / 18 / 0 Speed Boost Torpedo Premiums. Smoke Generator Modification 1 - worth it?

It should be in the shop between the 22 - 29 March for the Battle of Cape Matapan event. Here's Perth laying some bad [edited]creep smoke as a 15" shell from Vittorio Veneto falls between her and Gloucester. Tier 8 match making? Pffft.

    Historical Links Exchange

Link: http://www.perthone.com/perth.htm Description: Incredibly detailed website dedicated to HMAS Perth, with lot's of photos and detailed schematics. (Can you spot the glaring error for the WOWS camouflage pattern?)
  19. SAMs are the least offensive option, HMS Cavalier will probably come with with a Seacat launcher too.

Smoke Generator Modification 1 - worth it?

I've been messing around with Smoke Generator Modification 1 on a Mahan. You get extra 3 puffs, loose 14 seconds duration on the first puff but only 7 seconds on the last puff. I bet it's fantastic for competitive team battles. Mahan Sims Kiev Speed (knots) 39 39 48 Duration (s) 106.4 121 85 Length (s) 35 27 20 Puffs 12 9 7 Wall Length (km) ~4.1 ~2.9 ~2.6 Wait what? You get over 2 minutes in creep smoke with Smoke Generator Modification 1, that's more time in smoke than a Gearing. You don't think that's a bit a bit OP for tier 6? Spotting Aircraft Modification 1 is also a good upgrade, you get almost 4 minutes of stealth firing or high quality front line spotting. Perth is fantastic ship

    Royal BB line

Renown, Queen Elizabeth and Valiant use powered BD Mk II mounts. 14-15 DPS seems to be the standard for DP guns that have a 15 degrees per second train rate. Slower or manually operated mounts, like the Mk XIX, are in the 9-10 DPS range. The RP41 Mk VI on Neptune is rated at 18 DPS for comparison. The 1939 refit notes say 'Two quadruple, deck mounted torpedo tubes fitted in place of the two submerged tubes' http://www.naval-history.net/xGM-Chrono-02BC-Renown.htm Wonder where they are, under the second funnel? Or maybe your right and they worl like Mutsu?
  22. creamgravy

    Royal BB line

Don't forget torpedoes... Guns: 6 x 15" Mk I guns (nice) Torpedoes: 2 x 4 533mm deck mounted torpedoes fitted in place of the two submerged tubes. (see Perth and Leander, single launch yolo runs here I come) AA: 400 DPS at 7.2km is good? Renown is going to be sweet.

    Which Hood?

Your right about the pom poms, I was looking at the Black Swan and Emerald. Same mounts, different values! Are XIX* mounts RP conversions? They've left it open enough to mean anything. Historically Hood should have less accurate 4" AA than Warspite as she never received type 285 radar, WG could make it complete garbage. Facing tier 8-9 carriers with limited AA in a big ship like that won't be fun.

    Battlecruisers?

'Battle<insert general ship name>' = large, super expensive capital ship.
