Let's break it down. Here's the damage a Bismarck main battery shell can do a ship. AP citadel = 11,600. HE citadel = 4,400. AP (fresh section)= 3,828. AP (blackened section) = 1,914. HE (fresh section) = 1,320. AP over penetration = 1,160. HE (blackened section) = 726. AP/HE (depleted section) = 0. AP/HE shatter = 0. AP bounce = 0. AP citadel, shatters and bounces are impossible agasint destroyers* (This represents both high and low extremes) Large calibre AP shells overmatch destroyer plating everywhere*, making AP over penetration damage the most reliable source. An accurate 'overpen' salvo will wipe out 33-80% from a destroyers HP pool. That's not even including a normal RNG pen you might get. Firing HE at a destroyer is huge downgrade in potential damage compared to reliable 10% overpens. Looking at the data it's the super reliable 10% overpen damage that's too high. It turns AP into a 'low risk, high reward' shell. Maybe it needs reducing to turn HE back into the 'low risk' shell? *There's a few exceptions, like Umikaze and Khaba

That's from Sub_Octavian not Tuccy. This is from Tuccy. Just give us historic 14" KGV at tier 8. No one cares if it's ultra competitive and no one cares about calibre progression for tech trees.

That's only for the live server (0.6.8) 0.6.9 is the latest > https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/public-test/hard-nut-to-kraken/

The best one yet. A metric ton of competitive but hugely different ships. My 4 games in Gnevny was a highlight. 6.1km surface detection and the best DD guns a tier 6? It's getting a dedicated 19 point 'ranked' captain for the future, torps are overrated. Gutted I didn't have the chance to test Duca d'Aosta (or Gallant) Ring and Riposte were good. Fault Line and New Dawn are getting long in the tooth. Not sure if I love or hate 2 cap Neighbors.

There's a few other differences between SAP 46 shells. Okhotnik has a 1652 krupp and can pen 46mm at 10km. Leningrad has a 1700 krupp and can pen 76mm at 10km. 128mm/45 LC/34 (Maass) and 128mm/45 LC/41 (Z-46/Z-52) shells have different drag rates. 0.27 seems about right for Z-46, Maass will be around 0.31 to 0.33?? HE shell arcs.

Tier 7+ has horrific balance problems. Yamato is the OG king of these issues, trying to fit new ships into this mess will always be challenging.

Where will go your Dunkirk captain?
creamgravy replied to Sams_Baneblade's topic in General Discussion
Belfast is so broken you don't even need a 10 point captain. -
There's a very simple fix. Tier 8-10 destroyers have better armour than tier 7 heavy cruisers. 19mm everywhere means AP shells will detonate at most angles. Nerf it down to 10-13mm for guaranteed overpens.

What happened to the 4.5"/45 QF Mark V for the Conqueror
creamgravy replied to Affeks's topic in General Discussion
Royal Navy capital ships didn't get lattice masts until the 1950s, during the same refit 114mm secondaries were replaced with 3" auto loaders. So technically Conqueror and Monarch should have 3"/50 or 3"/70 mounts everywhere and nothing else. You could also use a paper 5.25" Mk III with 20-70 RPM. ...but WG want RN BBs to have rubbish long range AA with crazy short range AA, like Hood. (Historic QE is the exception) -
Premium Rodney with token 622mm Mk I oxygen torpedoes by miles! Premium Nelson with Minotaur heal is dumb. Does anyone one really want a tier 7 bow camping BB that's super hard to sink?
-
4x2 102mm Tribals have double the DPM of 3x2 120mm Tribals with much better shell arcs. Tier 7? Zero chance. Nootka, Cayuga, Athabaskan (ii), upgraded Blys and the 4 L Class are all tier 8+ ...and even then they'll need balancing like Akizuki (is 1200 HE alpha fair now the OP stealth firing ability is gone?)

114mm guns have 37mm pen with 1/4 and IFHE. You only need 1/5.9 to put them in the same group as 120-134mm guns. Kandly got the intro mixed up, Monarch isn't a followup to the KGV but the first KGV design (15c) chosen before the second London Naval Treaty. It's literately a KGV hull with extra bits stuck on to try and balance it for tier 8 gameplay. Late 1930s 3x3 15" Mk II paper guns (Pointless. 15" AP is rubbish at tier 8+ these days, 10x14" gives you more shells.) Early 1940s aircraft equipment (Yes please, aircraft is useful) Mid 1940s AA (Not historic, but it'll do) 1950s lattice masts (eee gads)

Yep, Daring should be tier 7 as you can't damage tier 8 ships with HE. Oh and Bismarck should be tier 7 too, those 15" guns are useless agasint tier 8+ these days. On the plus side I saw Admiral Noodle seal clubbing tier 4s with Iron Duke yesterday. Looks OP with that MM (Those pom-pom turret mounts look like they're going to fall off when you turn the ship)

Parks avoided the mines but crashed into the server.

Use speed to flank around and spit up enemy fire. Your hard to hit when steaming at 38 knots. Duca D'Aosta is one of the most fun ships in the game, can't wait for a full line. In the mean time you could play Italian designed or built ships like Tashkent.

Without Gallant, only one collection box a day??
creamgravy replied to FishDogFoodShack's topic in General Discussion
It'll be tough not clicking the buy button after loosing Anthony. How about £50 for 5 famous clones WG? (Arcasta, Electra etc) -

The epic prize is Gallant, so 0.0001%. -
Come on Wargaming (Notser's Shiratsuyu rant)
creamgravy replied to Zogash85's topic in General Discussion
Why do you think Hatsuharu always has better win rates than Fubuki? Shiratsuyu comfortably out spots everyone else at tier 7 by 600m, she never needed the gimmicky reload booster to be good. Pushing into one is often suicide. Torpedoes are the hardest weapon to use, making them more accessible to the average player should be done with fixes across the board, not with a gimmick for one ship. -

Whines about gimmicks at tier 7. Whines about removing a gimmick at tier 7. -
Operation Dynamo - The positives.
creamgravy replied to Penguin_Sentinel's topic in General Discussion
Oh yeah, defiantly give Black Swan normal values. I do it for the AI planes too, my only gripe with this operation is the ability to shoot down 50+ planes with Anthony. -

creamgravy replied to Penguin_Sentinel's topic in General Discussion
It's fun, good work WG. Is there a secret way to save Parks or see the minelayer? (inc DYCK sign) I wish you could take out Black Swan for this mission too. She's tailor made for it. -
It wasn't the best day for me. Win, loose, win, loose. ...but it ended on a high hitting rank 1 with an outrageous flanking move using Perth and Teawhyblack in a Warspite just behind. Everyone camped behind those islands didn't stand a chance. WP

Player base for last 5 years: 'I can't wait to grind Nelson and buy a premium Rodney with token torpedoes'
