What? Don't you think games with 3 Scharnhorst and 3 Belfast versus 3 Colorado and 3 Yorck are fun and balanced?? Just wait for next tier 7 ranked season. Everyone gets a 'free' 16" bow camper with superheal. Fun times!

It's far less frustrating than tier 8+ random battles during the weekend. (easy 5 star match) -
Ah, the classic triple 30-40% WR Shima div. Domination games usually finish before they can hug the boarder and fire torpedoes.

We can theory craft captain builds now the line is more stable. Queen Elizabeth. Full AA Nelson and KGV: Full tank Tier 8+. Full stealth Others. KGV. IFHE. (aka retrain your Belfast captain to KGV. 115mm HE pen allows you to citadel those OP tier 7 cruisers with HE) Tier 8+. Partial AA (Div play) -

Q: Then why not use Vanguard at T8 since every argument you've just used for Sharnhorst applies equally to her? A: We have other plans for Vanguard:) -

They want a historic premium tier 8 IJN destroyer, that HSF thing is a pure cartoon ship. -

I think it's French destroyers next too, Cyclone is a good marker. Also no RN DDs this year? Nah, they're easy peasy. The first 'line of Gallants' is a no brainer (Interwar > WEP > J/K/N > Battle > Daring) Destroyer leaders and other oddballs don't have a super smooth line progression (still better than most) -
Yep, a CV with 11.35km secondaries and a 11.9km surface detection sounds like fun! (towards the end of the match)

Nelson and Missouri are grinding goals in a f2p grinding game. You'll need to pay crazy money to get them right away. Phil's estimate of 300-400k is too low for me. 450k would be my base figure. -
Bonza mate. Hope you've got those special upgrades ready. ...don't forget about the Koala and Donald Duck Easter eggs.

Perth, Albert & Duca are back! But not for doubloons? :(
creamgravy replied to zaaaaaaP's topic in General Discussion
Range is less important with a 8.6km surface detection. You'll want to get as close possible for accurate shots on DDs and threaten torpedoes agasint larger ships. Don't forget the Walrus spotter now works for 4 minutes when you want to harass at 14-15km. -

Yep, they're very different. Leander is a large US DD. Normal smoke and repair party (theoretical max HP of 48k) allows you to stay on the front line for protracted periods. It's a domination specialist (see ranked) Perth is a CL/DD hybrid. It's harder, but more rewarding, juggling the two styles. More BBs rage quit agasint me in Perth than Belfast. 2 minute 6" IFHE smoke spam is a bit broken, esp after you've just stealth torped em in the face. Duca d'Aosta is a RU CL/DD hybrid with 12km mines. (I hope the Italian DD or CL line plays like this) Perth is my favourite ship in the whole game, d'Aosta isn't far off. -

250,000 XP is worth £32. There's no way WG will let it go for a normal price, some 'grind time' will be added. -
Yes please.

Nelson currently has the tier 8+ RN CL repair party. (aka, heal half your HP in a few seconds) I think it'll be 450k free XP. -

Why was Nelson chosen as a premium over the more famous Rodney? -
An HE shell from Charles Martel does 924 (33%) on a fresh compartment and 462 (16.5%) on a blackened section. I use an average of 20% per shell for a DD, they go black very quickly and get saturated on the bow/stern. Charles Martel landing 6 shells per salvo with a 10 second reload = 16,632 - 20,160 DPM Tirpitz landing 6 AP shells per salvo with a 26 second reload = 16,061+ DPM (guaranteed overpen damage) Tirpitz landing 6 HE shells per salvo with a 26 second reload = 10,052 - 18,277 DPM

It's essential.

Mutsu is competing with Warspite, Arizona and Dunkerque. Those three are always available in the tech tree for doubloons or on the website for real money. Any new tier 6 BB will always struggle to generate massive sales (Should Arizona and Warspite be moved to 'rare' status?) Ashitaka has it even worse competing with famous EU BBs. I think Hood did quite well for the time it was on sale and excessive cost. (Imagine if WG created a fun 'Battle of the Denmark Strait' PvP/PvE operation! Next year please!) Mutsu. 101,149. Hood. 174,296. Alabama. 192,918. From http://wows-numbers.com/ships/ and total games played

Taiho could've been running stock tier 8 planes with no HP buffs. Scharnhorst AA is limited to 6.5km, only a bad player would have planes hand around long enough to get shot down. A full AA spec Scharnhorst can only shoot down 2 fully upgraded Taiho bombers (out of 20-23?) before they drop. CV gameplay variation is MASSIVE for random battles. (I'm sure most don't 'alt click' squads for that essential 30% AA DPS buff) -

Guaranteed 10% damage overpens agasint destroyers is the main issue. Here's a good example of Bismarck shell damage. AP citadel = 11,600. HE citadel = 4,400. AP (fresh section)= 3,828. AP (blackened section) = 1,914. HE (fresh section) = 1,320. AP over penetration = 1,160. HE (blackened section) = 726. HE (depleted section) = 0. AP/HE shatter = 0. AP bounce = 0. Large calibre AP shells overmatch (most) destroyer plating everywhere making overpens the lowest damage roll. AP citadel, shatters and bounces are impossible agasint (most) destroyers. So... Firing HE at a destroyer = 0, 726 or 1320. Firing AP at a destroyer = 1160, 1914 or 3828. A full 'overpen' salvo on a DD from Montana is a guaranteed 16,000 damage. Scary. Reducing large calibre overpen damage on destroyers to 5% would even it out. BB players would still have those RNG pens but without the super consistent high overpen damage. They would need to switch to HE for consistent damage. -

Bayern is tanky because of the dreadnought armour scheme (30-200mm bow/stern, 40mm deck, 170-250mm sides etc) Dunkerque is fragile due to the all or nothing armour scheme (25mm everywhere) At tier 7 KGV is like Dunkerque, who cares about the 381mm belt when you've got 25mm plating everywhere to shoot at. -

Battleship citadel armour is largely irrelevant in WOWS. Premium Nelson has the super heal. ...because unsinkable bow on BBs are fun. -
Elite captain XP has removed the 'captain trainer' benefit from premiums. Any silver ship with a 19 point captain makes a great RN BB trainer. People just want to collect and sail famous ships.
