Both Mahan (12 every 87s) and Akatsuki (9 every 70s) makes Kagero with TRB look gimmicky. They tried with Ognevoi but it's not the same.
-
No idea why they don't give premium destroyers more torpedo options... oh yeah money! Tier 8 is still devoid of a good torp spammer, how about 12-15km Type 8 (59 knots. 16k damage. 1.5km detect etc) with a low cool down?

Lazy/cheep balancing? Spend X hours fixing the silly citadel on Neptune/Mino or just give a debuff to ships firing on it? -
God levels of AA makes operations very, very easy. You can charge off solo to complete stuff without the fear of getting dropped when fighting bot ships. It's twice as hard when you have to start dodging torpedoes from your flank and worry about consistently getting set on fire.
-
AA spec Queen Elizabeth is a beast for operations. (230 DPS at 7.2km wipes the sky clean, accurate AP blaps predictable bot cruisers etc)

Both are now extremely narrow damage farmers with no flexibility. Conq has a bad WR and Khaba only gets average stats with a small amount of dedicated players (3000 games in the last 2 weeks compared to 15,000 of Gearing etc)- 29 replies

What happened to Conqueror? Nerfed into the ground like Khaba thanks to CCs seal clubbing in random battles?- 29 replies

^ Hope so. I just want the stock A-hull (finally a normal US DD that doesn't have nered HP/concealment for gimmick smoke/dakka) The fantasy 2x5 launchers + AA is crazy and pointless, there's plenty of real WW2 refits they could use. Both Hatsu and Shiratsuyu are always in the top 2 performing DDs of their respective tiers.
-
It's 0.005 (tier 1-5 = 0.004) They almost explode on contact, basically balanced as HE with high pen but no fire %. 127mm = 0.03 152mm = 0.025 (US tier 6+ 152mm = 0.01) 203mm+ = 0.033 (RN BB 0.015)
-
Radar campers usually have the best win rates (Camp behind island + press radar button, BBs are usually good enough to wipe out anything that's spotted) Mino is hilarious when there's no counter radar, you don't even need islands to perma spot DDs without getting spotted back. (WG really need to figure out spotting consumables, they're terribly implemented) RN CLs can't citadel ships with recessed citadels due to the 0.005s fuse (HIV and Hindy)
-
RM CLs are IJN CA play-style (see Atago) with lighter/faster reloading weapons. I've been using a RN CL style captain in Aosta over the classic 152mm IFHE damage farmer (Radio location, twin spotters for destroyers etc) That's fun.
-
Heal is probably the strongest consumable in the game. (heal > radar > smoke) Tier 7-8 cruisers would kill for one. Once the usual 'OMG cruiser has a citadel and gets deleted' hype dies down Abruzzi will be one of the highest performing cruisers at tier 7.
-
She'll make a cracking sale purchase. Abbruzi shells are faster to 10km by almost 2 seconds (and fast than same tier RN CLs by 1 second)

HMS Vanguard - T8 Royal Navy premium BB proposal
creamgravy replied to piritskenyer's topic in Battleships
The penetration is only bad if your hitting BB belt armour all the time, 420mm at 10km is more than enough for everything else. Roma has a crazy 590mm at 10km yet it doesn't go around deleting BBs left right and centre. Your stats are even similar to Hood (with far less ships sunk) so they can't be that bad... Monarch shells travel at 836m/s with a 2250 Krupp and normal 45-60 degree ricochet angles. 505mm pen at 10km makes them similar to Mk XVIIb Cardonald shells. http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Gunnery_%26_Armor_Penetration and http://wowsft.com/shipStatComparison It's got nothing to do with turrets not aiming into the middle, it's just the ellipse a single shell can disperse into. Those are values have no target lock etc (which reduces them by half etc) WG do mess about with the these values to give ships more flavor. Duke of York (Roma/French BBs) has low min V/H dispersion. Occasionally (at close ranges) you get really tight groups you'd never get with a BB like Hood.- 114 replies

PSA: 50% off premium camo for 7 days (doesn't include tier 10)
creamgravy posted a topic in General Discussion
As per title, there's a 50% off sale on premium camo for 7 days. This doesn't include tier 10. Time to get that lovely Fiji paint job. Oh and Cleveland for the US spit. 500 gold for tier 8 camo seems like a good deal. -
HMS Vanguard - T8 Royal Navy premium BB proposal
creamgravy replied to piritskenyer's topic in Battleships
A slow shell, with 0.015s fuse, usually explodes before entering the deep BB citadel. In WOWS they're identical (same drag/muzzle velocity and weight) Here's a decent comparison tool > http://wowsft.com/shipStatComparison Only Warspite has slight a difference (worse drag, better Krupp, 0.033s fuse) Longer ships have a wider dispersion ellipse. A Hood shell has a minimum dispersion ellipse of v = 624m and h = 162m A KGV shell has a minimum dispersion ellipse of v = 554m and h = 162m.- 114 replies

HMS Vanguard - T8 Royal Navy premium BB proposal
creamgravy replied to piritskenyer's topic in Battleships
Lion (slightly smaller Vanguard) dies very, very quickly. Submerged citadel and thick belt armour is largely irrelevant when your a massive ship with 32mm everywhere, you need to play passively just to stay alive. 4chr shells have identical ballistics to 6chr and penetration is only better by 10-20mm at 15km. FA difference. The only thing bad about Hood's guns is the minimum vertical dispersion (624m as the guns are far apart) With a ~550m min V dispersion and 2.0 sigma, Vanguard will really, really good with Hood shells.- 114 replies

Well, I messed around at rank 10 with Z-52, Conq and Mino with 1 point captains for a few games. Still not sold on tier 10 balance/enjoyment, but it seems much better than tier 8 (why does tier 8 suck so hard? Free Bismark for everyone? Only 1 or 2 good ships? Terrible old maps?) So I've bought all the TX destroyers, equipped them and transferred across high level captains, inc Conq and Mino. Oh and props to WG for turning Tears of the Desert into a good map, easily the most most enjoyable one so far.

Which dds now may play like UK dds later?
creamgravy replied to AnchorChains's topic in General Discussion
You can easily put the C-class at tier 8. Cavalier can pump out 14 RPM and could have 20 deg per second turret rotation. Add the 360 degree X turret and you'll always have 3 guns on target whilst dodging stuff bow on by +-24 degrees(?) That's even better than 5 gun Mahan/Benson. I'd prefer 2x4 IX** torpedoes over the 2x5 55 knot jobbies Benson and Ognavoi get too. By some margin. ...but J/K/N is soooo much better with 2x5 torpedoes and 6 barrels with +-26 degrees forward arcs. HOW IS THIS TIER 7????? HOW??????? Why do WG always put OP RN ships a tier 7? We don't need anymore ffs, tier 7 is fully colonised. -

Modified W have the same loadout as Amazon/Ambuscade. They'll make a good tier 4 destroyer leader or tier 5 torpedo boat? The transition from 4x120mm BL to 5x120mm BL on 'Jianwei' (my new fav destroyer) is nice and smooth. But your right about the S-Class, maybe a stock V-Class would be more suitable agasint the current group (Vampire with 2x3 torpedoes) Fleet destroyers. Tier 2: Laforey class. Tier 3: R class. Tier 4: V Class. Tier 5: Amazon/Ambuscade. Tier 6: Interwar. Tier 7: WEP. Tier 8: J/K/N Class. Tier 9: Battle. Tier 10: Daring. Destroyer leaders. Tier 2: Talisman class leader. Tier 3: Parker class leader. Tier 4: Modified W class. Tier 5: Admiralty class leader. Tier 6: Interwar leader. Tier 7: Tribal. Tier 8: L/M Class. Tier 9: V leader design. Tier 10: L.72 design. Support destroyers. Tier 2: NA Tier 3: NA Tier 4: NA Tier 5: WAIR (keeps torpedoes) Tier 6: O-class (Mk XIX refit) Tier 7: P-class (Mk XIX RP 51 refit) Tier 8: Weapon Tier 9: 1944 Battle (Australian) Tier 10: 1950 Battle (Nueva Esparta or Design. Better forward arcs than GM with 20 RPM guns. It'll roast Gearing/Daring for breakfast.) -
It's usually 3-4 cruisers at tier 10. There were plenty of cruisers at tier 8 too.

Sorry, should've clarified. WEP = War Emergency Program destroyers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_Emergency_Programme_destroyers Typically an improved Gadja Mada hull with 4 x 114mm or 120mm guns, 2x4 torpedoes and better AA (they're DP guns but WG might not include them due to elevation) A perfectly balanced tier 7 torpedo boat hybrid to compete with Poi and Sims, lots of premium candidates too (Cavalier, Saumarez, Stord, Virago, Savage etc) -

GM smashes tier balance and progression into the dirt. It's funny OP at tier 7, more so than OG Kiev. You can whoop most tier 8 destroyers, even without the concealment module. I'd swap it with the Pan Asian tier 8 (balance it like Sims) WEP have the the same 360 X turret and features of GM but are much better suited for tier 7, they compare well with Shirasuyu/Sims (guns + torpedoes) and are a nice upgrade over the interwar DDs (Gallant) at tier 6.
