I actually agree with you there. Lo Yang completely power creeps the Benson. Sure Hull B Benson might get one extra gun and you get about 1k more HP but everything else is the same so in that case Hydro Lo Yang is simply superior. It's just the other complaints making out Yang is some sort of monster ship which it isn't.

How many of the complainers have got to the top league I wonder? Roughly a 3rd of games you'll win regardless, another 3rd you'll lose and the last 3rd is where you can make the difference. That's hugely simplified but the top league is one where you need to fight tooth and nail sometimes even against stuff that looks impossible. Very few random teams are that well organised that they can shut you out with Hydro etc for an entire game. People always look outwards for excuses when they lose and instead should look at their own game. Either that or they can't afford or don't want to buy a ship that's seen as OP ship to form an informed opinion.

One Lo Yang vs a few ships is going to lose if they know what they're doing... Flanking the smoke/island does the job. The Yang either leaves the cap or dies. If a team is supporting the Yang then its a different story. I'm just saying Hydro behind an island isn't an automatic win like lord of folk here assume. To the point where I abandoned the Lo Yang and used Harekaze in Ranked as I felt better natural concealment and hard hitting torps were more useful.

You'll be pushed out if you're alone and they've got back up surely? It's for the individual to assess as every situation is slightly different I guess.

Yam and Conq do similar damage at long ranges. Granted one might need a little less skill but meh...

A solo Lo Yang going to a cap isn't going to take it unless it's B on North maybe and camping behind that island. Any solo DD isn't going to take a cap vs a whole team without support or even more than one enemy.

There is if you don't take AFT and build for stealth although arguably it's still possible. I prefer to torp than use guns these days. But I do appreciate the fire stack that is possible from spamming HE.

Lel Sims was cheese. One cap and a DD kill would get you top 80% of the time but all the complaints were to Belfast.

If a Lo Yang has clearly used their smoke and hydro then its party time yes The torps are usable but I wish they were the full fat 20k damage monsters yeah and lol 13k stock HP. As an all round package she's greater than the sum of her parts if the player is competent but a lot get easily gunned down. Knowing when to run is key is ppl here whine about Hydro but you need to learn to react before that point. Yet they argue here that's impossible... There's always the P2W argument but you still need to take that ship to R1 yourself and most still won't even if given the best tools. Plus it's not like the most OP ships cannot be bought. Not like it's a T5 Season with Gremy...

Yah it's actually good for T7. Only IJN stuff and that PA one besting her. That's one way of playing Lenin but she fits into the traditional DD role too. Sadly from playing both I finally feel like Lenin is better than Blys. Because of torps and speed advantages.

I don't pick gun battles in the Harekaze with other DDs unless I have support or they're half HP. Or if it's an ambush so I can get some free hits in. No one complains about the Harekaze however and mindlessly bashes their heads against Hydro Then again the skill floor is arguably higher in the Harekaze as average ones will get farmed but it takes no effort to frustrate potatoes with Hydro island camping.

Oh and don't think a team of Lo Yangs can shut you out for 20mins. Whilst I've played Ranked games with low losses and points victories they are very rare. Games are long enough for you to have multiple chances to change things. Hydro lasts at the very most for about 7 minutes. 7 odd mins out of a total of 20....

People are too ignorant to accept that if a Cap has overwhelming amounts of the enemy then other caps will be less contested yeah. But instead they blame a ship with low HP, and poor DPM with an absolute detection of 5.4km as being the sole reason for losing... Here's something. Often in the Ranked season just gone, I'd Hydro spot a cap behind an island but due to my team not supporting me I would get pinned down and focused. This happened so often I went over to the Harekaze and chose to use my better natural concealment and torps. Oh but wait, I might have given up the cap!?! A game is 20 mins and a thousand points, giving up a cap for a few minutes isn't a problem if you know how to retake them... This is all a L2P issue and it's all it ever was. Maybe I should learn to Lo Yang instead of failing?

That player must have some understanding of the game otherwise they couldn't maintain wins. But yeah a 500 or less game cap might make the achievement worth more. Then again could many of us suffer R1 for a thousand games in 4 weeks? I know I couldn't!!

Relax, the flags and reward boats come in a few weeks. I still don't think it's possible to get R1 without being OK at the game. Otherwise you'll never get the streak possible to get to the top. Although there was an idiot who was over a thousand games in and they actually tried to throw as we didn't listen to their fail plan. We still won

Hmmm... Use her bow in, don't reveal the rear turret unless it's safe. You're pretty tanky if you stay bow in or heavily angled. And yeah unfortunately unless everyone is in Cruisers then you're better off just HE spamming everyone. AP is usable at closer ranges if BBs show broadsides. Also if you're HE spamming then focus on one target as you want to saturate their DCP and repair. Funny when you overwhelm a Yam that way. Finally take Concealment Expert and Fire Prevention. They will help, a lot... I personally got on fine with the Monarch even if I think the RN BB line is not that enjoyable.

I've found that any torps with a range of 10km or more benefit from Torp Acceleration. You shouldn't be firing from extreme range anyway and the extra speed boost will help to catch people out. It's especially funny on high level PA DDs but folk tell me it's excessive Also shooting a BB just before your torps get into range will crush the potatoes as they think they can shoot you instead of focusing on dodging

The T9 Alsace is pretty nice. But then again I'm bias towards fast BBs. Everything on her seems good. Then again I liked the Lion on PT but she was meh on the live server.

Ogni at T8 is viable, build the captain and shop like a Torp Boat with Torp Acceleration and Concealment then you're away. The line doesn't really take off until T8 for me. Lenin is a crazy ship as you can do almost 50 knots with speed boost and flag. Plus you have 8 good torps for T7. The ability to flank torp in her is crazy and you can still outgun many DDs who try to intercept you.

I own Lo Yang, Kidd and Harekaze yet I found the Japanese ship the most viable. Believe me I tried all 3. It took me to R1 when I didn't feel the others could. Yet everyone thinks the others are more OP.

This is the first season since the smoke nerfs afaik. And somehow I think it's made it even campier as a lot of games were static camper battles behind islands. Maybe it's just because I can only play Spotter DDs but I think the format is getting stale now. The last 3 seasons I've got R1 in almost the same play style, I did try to vary it but went back to what I knew. As said the Rewards are Meh other than the two Prem Ships. The Black and Flint camos are simply WG not trying, why does anyone who plays the game well enough to get both the Flint and Black need camos to encourage them to play those two ships even more?

Ranked finishes today, Roma wasn't too long ago. Xmas just finished too. It's going to be a bit quiet, although I don't like the lack of Double XP weekends recently. That's our punishment for same rewards across serves I guess... A huge amount of one sided games this weekend yes but that's normal these days.

And Radar. Yet we have DDs and BBs who can use them WG strive to make Cruisers unplayable or irrelevant. How hard would it have been to limit the special consumables to the squishy, jack of all trades class? It would keep them relevant. Instead many Ranked games were DDs and BBs with maybe 1 Cruiser a side if you were lucky.
