Because that's a specific map and cap zone where hydro is especially strong but even then there are ways to fight it... You ignore Lo Yang's Hydro not having the monopoly at T8 unlike a Belfast in previous seasons where often it would be the only radar ship on the map. Island camping can be done by other hydro ships, especially on the map I mentioned at AB as it's so compact. Plus there would be radar almost every game. Yes because knowing when to give up a cap and regroup is just intelligent play. Lo Yang Hydro isn't the only time a cap should be given up and nor should it be a blanket withdraw. You do realise in your own experience an unsupported Lo Yang is no different to any other DD to focus down? Funny how I'm defending a ship I don't even particularly like. I'd take minus 1km Hydro for decent 9.2 km torps any day. Then there would be an OP ship worth complaining about.

Def AA all day. CVs will leave you alone or pay a price. Especially because WG buffed DefAA for some unknown reason, killed over 20 planes in a Fletcher with just DefAA with the AA range module a few weeks ago.

How much of Ranked have you actually played this season? AB early on Sea of Fortune is an incredibly dangerous cap for any ship early on, even with hydro and smoke. The islands on AB on that map are so close that other ships with shorter range hydro than Lo Yang's 5.4km can counter spot... Same reasoning as a BB shouldn't be sailing straight for long periods of time or a Cruiser shouldn't be giving the enemy team broadside. Why on earth would anyone play to the enemy's strengths unless they don't know what they're doing? There's multiple people who have played Ranked this season to it's conclusion including myself that speak on experience. You may not have faced enough of them to make a fair decision. Well considering I switched to the Harekaze, I think I can speak a bit on this. Yeah she has lower HP than a Lo Yang and is slower but that's why I saved my Speed Boosts for dealing with Lo Yangs. Knowing when to turn away and not engage comes with a bit of experience, a Lo Yang trying to chase a Harekaze that's used speed boost and is firing with 4 rear guns vs a Lo Yang's 2 front guns is going to come off worse. That's not even factoring in when you pick the fights. It's all tactics within each game that's there to be considered. 2 or 3 caps, 7 players a side. You're making excuses for Lo Yang's hydro like it's an invincible weapon that only a huge skill disparity can overcome. Every DD can fall back and play the concealment game, Lo Yang is not significant better or worse than any of the competitive DDs at T8. I'm not sure what you're really debating. That 5.4km of hard detection on an otherwise average DD is OP?

Well even if a Texas style rebuild with stronger AA at T5 was made it would be nice... WG could make the model prettier too. A decent Kongo has been asked for on and off for years but instead we keep getting these down graded ships. It's so obvious they could do it too as Ashitaka, Kii, Mutsu and Musashi are all easy re works of existing ships. WG passing up some easy money

There's enough counters to a Lo Yang at T8 which prevents her from being OP I think. There are radar ships, torps that can one shot a Yang, BBs that can do so with AP, CVs who's planes Yang can't swat, rapid fire HE. Nikolai at T4 is OP as that thing is almost unlikable with heavy armour. Gremy in a T5 max MM is pretty crazy too. Kaga when dumped into a T5 game is unfair too. Belfast in the same situation is pretty unsporting too. Lo Yang outside of being a static cap contester isn't hugely strong. Unless bad DD players sit in smoke waiting to get Hydro'ed I don't see how the PA Prem has any huge advantages over other pay wall DDs. Sure good players have used her exclusively and got good results but these are streamers and other guys who've likely won Ranked multiple times before. OP status I feel is something the enemy can do very little about even when properly informed and playing well.

Raise a Prem Kongo to T6. Improve dispersion, have late War AA. Allow T6 modules and let the players sort the rest out, maybe buff turret rotation slightly but keep everything else the same. I think I could make it work...

Just give Zumo her 3rd front facing turret and the problems would be solved. I'd rebuy her for sure then.

Kami is only better because WG screwed with Minekaze. Ichy being better than Myogi isn't hard as that's a true stinker even if she looks visually awesome. Atago yes I guess. Musashi, also likewise. Zumo isn't exactly strong opposition. Kaga however is strong as is Shino. Ashitaka is lel and Kii is inferior too. Mutsu is a side step. Maybe the perception is stronger than the reality but WG really needs to look at IJN DDs and release a late war Kongo Prem for everyone...

Not sure if there is any point. Many of us including you and I have tried explaining ways to defeat hydro or how Lo Yang isn't actually strong in any other area but they'll refuse to listen and cry OP Thing is those of us who've finished last season will have likely fought every scenario the complainers can raise and have over come them. Maybe Enterprise 50% fighter reserve is OP? Amagi's or NC's accuracy? Chapy's DPM? Others will say Git Gud or L2P but I prefer to say it's players not accepting they've fallen short and need something to blame. Isn't it routine to sit there and think of why you've lost a game or have died too early? The vast majority of the time I can find reasons in myself instead of blaming OP ships. Like the other day I died first as a Udaloi to an island camping Des Moines. I couldn't escape the radar and I got farmed for First Blood. It was my fault because I didn't consider the map and the MM so I got ambushed. Yeah radar is a bit strong but I should have been more cautious. Have a think next time instead of ranting...

A Lo Yang isn't going to take AB together without being spotted or exposing themselves to torp risks at the start. B is suicide to fast cap and if the Lo Yang goes west of A then either their team comes with them or if they're alone then they can be flanked. Why would you contest a cap if you have no hydro or radar vs a team that does? That's not OP Hydro, that's just failing to look at the lineups and coming up with a plan. If they're AB west, your team goes C and east then you fight it out. Hydro will make little difference at the ranges we're talking about. Again if you want to hit the higher ranks you'll find a way. Or make your excuses as to why. I considered giving up this season but I sat down and analysed games I lost then compared them to my own strengths and weaknesses.

Big E is a strong performer. Arguably she's a little boring but she beats down every Lex deck ever imagined and she's very competitive next to Shokaku.

IJN is the only nation that largely follows WG's outdated Prem policy of being slightly weaker than the tech tree counter parts...

Ssshhhhh... You can't say things like that! People will get offended! That's exactly why I stopped using the Yang as Hydro cap camping is hugely inflexible and without support you're a sitting duck. At the higher levels people are prepared for it and will find a way to defeat you. Even if a Lo Yang hydro caps AB on Sea of Fortune. You just push C and flank with superior spotting and width. I saw that many times last season. In fact you'd be stupid facing a Lo Yang or hydro head on at AB without something of your own to counter yet people think they should be given the right to do so?! But that's the elephant in the room. Lo Yang really isn't so powerful that some preparation can't beat her

Silver ships have sucky stats as potatoes drag them down. Especially 5k Perm camo so kids can fail in T10 forever Musashi can't be a bad ship but she's simply a higher waterline Yam with slightly derpy guns. Likely makes little difference in Randoms. Although I'll maintain you don't need 18" guns to bash T7 BBs like the poor Colorado

I've had my Gearing a long time but I only recently got a spare USN captain to give her TA. Fun now and again but feeling the power creep a bit. Next time PT is up give PA DDs a try, I felt they were a bit meh and stopped on the T7 thing but the PA Gearing is quite an interesting ship. Now I just need the effort to grind up there...

Harekaze won me Rank 1 in the season just gone. But for best results you need a high skill point Aki captain as the B Hull/4-10 Hull is the only real choice. Beware as Harekaze has awful HP so she takes no prisoners. Meh OP. I got detonated in my Gremy then Nikolai once. Within minutes of each other. RNG is a cruel mistress...

I got the taste for TA since using them on the Gearing and now I'm trying to force them into everything lol.. Have you used TA with the T10 PA DD? Feels like BBs have a very low chance of dodging them and you only miss because of your bad prediction. Hard to see if they're any better as my torping ability is naturally rising as I'm putting more effort into it. They're a bit silly on the Z46 but I'm not paying for a 19pt captain respec with XP or gold!
