Only played one game but I was satisfied with her. Fast and has obviously excellent angling potential as you can get 100% firepower on target almost all the time. Guns do derp however but I found the AP acceptable. Basically an upscaled Dunkerque which is exactly what I expected. I'm grinding DDs mostly at the moment so I don't BB much these days CL tells me I was pretty lucky yeah as the average drop rate is far lower

Meh, got all possible BB unlocks for 30 containers. Pleased with my Richelieu anyway and got some gold, flags and camo on top too...

Roma guns are unexpectedly punchy for 15", they get citadels and heavy penetrations when you feel they really shouldn't. No idea if that's just RNG or the high velocity shells.

Whilst this is a whine thread, I can't help but mostly agree. Don't think the Cruiser issue is true but games basically consist of whichever DD can win caps and stay alive. A team that loses all DDs without a huge points advantage will lose 9 out of 10 times. It's why I play DDs more these days as I value winning sadly. Also special shout goes out to the mindless Shima last night which avoided all caps until 75% of the team were dead, did the old flanking torp boat thing awfully. Left me alone in an Udaloi to be the spotter...

Some ppl take PT for BBs. Personally I don't but I can understand the logic behind it.

Looks like even a mirror image e.g. Eugen and Hipper is a better prospect than this. Guess it's what we get for whining about Prem ships. WG punished us with mediocre proposals. The wait for a German DD crew trainer/Captain XP farmer continues...

Meh I snagged all available BB with 30 containers. Apparently that's very lucky as the drop rate is 35 to 1 but I don't believe that stat myself. Did pay for mine, I'd assume the grinded containers would drop less BB loot...

I feel A cap on this promotes bad play as nothing larger than a DD can risk going into it as you're stuck in the circle. I've won loads so far simply by rushing C flank in DDs. The random low gaps in the islands makes CW interesting as you can peek shoot stuff.

Lel Deal with it... It's a farming opportunity as you bag XP fast vs T10 potatoes. Although in seriousness the New Orleans grind was the most painful thing I've done recently in Ships and that includes Ranked. Across the entire grind I probably had under 10 games as top tier but with quite a few where I was an isolated T8 Cruiser.

Yeah Normandie power creeps Dunker so hard since bow immunity vs 14" guns is irrelevant in the modern meta. Dunker guns are slightly better yeah but the RNG of 12 guns vs 8 wins. Plus the comical sight of a fat overly long BB performing 30knot lel turns is always worth it for a laugh. Seriously WG, you balanced Kongo by making her turn like a barge yet the Normandie is like a giant speed boat in comparison...

Only small Tex issue is you need a special Captain. As the meta changed, pre skills change it was AFT, BFT CE etc now it's more like CE and FP. Fortunately I have lots of spare captains and one is a good AA candidate.

Problem with lower tier BB is they all have very soft noses. So higher calibre AP when you're bow in will utterly murder you. That's easier to avoid in faster BB as you can just run but in a slow BB you're just a sitting target.

Medium range is where BBs need to be as you should be tanking for the team. Let fail BBs snipe. Sometimes stay so angled that your rear guns can't fire. That thickens your armour and protects your citadel. The BB issue is that it's hard to withdraw as you're so big and fat so BB experience is mostly about positioning, target choice and when to fully commit.

Well NY is usable. There isn't a huge difference between NY and Tex. Other than slightly different superstructures that influence angling. Maybe slow BBs need a bit of experience these days otherwise you just get focused down. USN tend to have the calibre edge at most tiers other than T6. It's only now with other BB lines that retrospectively have alot more lower calibre weapons.

GC are not much worse, has the same amount of guns but most importantly the platform the guns are mounted on has a lot of pace so has far more tactical flexibility than the NY. Slow BBs now are in serious trouble as they cannot retreat and once you've picked a position that's where you're going to stay.

Ah you used FXP to climb the tree If you took time out to learn IJN BBs and their various traits, you'll find them pretty dependable. Kongo is to be used at the ranges you've quoted. Amusingly thin armour so stay angled. Even then some higher tier BBs may just raid your internals...

I think GC has the deadliest guns in T5. They're accurate and still punch hard enough to pen anything in the MM. NY does have a heavy salvo but she gives broadside to get them all on target and they derp hard at longer ranges.

Normandie is lel, something as fast as the Kongo but look at the shape of the thing... Kongo turns really slowly and is suitably barge like for a long thin speedy ship. I wonder how much bhp something Normandie shaped would need to actually get 30knots.

IJN BB are still not snipers... All BB benefit by getting closer. Maybe Izumo needs some love but every other ship in the line other than the Myogi is competitive. Kongo is still fast although nowadays 30knots for a mid tier BB isn't unique. Fuso has a heavy 12 gun salvo and is resistant to HE spam. Nagato is very well balanced, decent guns. Amagi is a great T8 BB. 10 16" guns can take down any other BB and they're accurate too. Yam has 18" guns that have overmatch potential and is one of the best BB killers around.

Kongo has been pushed out big time by GC and the other faster BBs. She used to be the fastest BB by miles in her MM now she's power creeped yes. I imagine ppl see stuff like Iowa and want to grind up there so they're forced to play the lol that is NY. It's fun when you see NY and other non RN BBs HE spam.

DDs are the most influential class... Other than a good CV player but they're fairly rare. Looks like your issue is playing IJN DDs. There are better DDs at the higher tiers that fill the DD role fully. Something like a Fletcher can torp as well as IJN DDs, yet has decent concealment and guns to kill other DDs with. There's no point thinking about killing BBs until you've killed/spotted enemy DDs and Cruisers. BBs are sitting ducks for a combined team after their support has all died. Simply play more conservative until radar ships are dead or you know their radar is on cooldown. There are not that many ships to memorise. Belfast, Indiapolis, Chapyev, New Orleans, potentially Edinburgh, T8 PA DD, T9 PA DD, Neptune, Donskoi, Baltimore, Black, Missouri, Moskva, Des Moines, T10PA DD and Minotaur. There I've named all the potential radar ships... A DDs job is often to provide a perimeter for the rest of your team by spotting for them. How well that's done is down to the end user. And that Lo Yang that tried to burn your Lex failed at the moment they chose to CV hunt instead of playing for the team.

Just wait until you get to the Lyon... Very similar ship, a bit slower but with SIXTEEN GUNS, basically whether you use AP or HE you can overpower most enemies you'll face in the MM. Slightly squishy and slightly derpy with dispersion at longer ranges but with that amount of dice rolls, you are going to be hitting them for something. I'd describe it like a turbo charged Fuso, but more testing is needed
