Dunno actually! I just know they do come to an end after a bit... I tend to use RPF on most DDs as the extra info is invaluable vs better players. And vs the lesser players you don't need the gun buffs.

I was surprised Harekaze came up a 2nd time a few weeks ago as I think the HSF collaboration has finished... Could ask Sub_Oct? Hmmm RPF is needed as Aki and Hare are arguably DD hunters and DD screening. Harekaze is an advanced ship as it's the weakest DD other than IJN stuff at T8 and will lose most fair DD vs DD knife fights. That's where the concealment and knowing when to use AP vs broadside targets come in. Harekaze won me R1 last season and is an amazing ship but only with careful hands...

Yes Aki captain goes into B Hull Harekaze perfectly. They use the same 100mm guns but Harekaze just gets one less turret and less HP but in exchange gets superior speed, concealment and double the torps which can be used to deadly effect....

Yeah, Aki is good but B Hull Harekaze is even better. Problem is both need IFHE and CE with a strong argument for RPF too which is a long grind as well as limiting your captain builds.

IMO think again and reconsider PA DDs, the Lo Yang is the perfect trainer from T7 onwards too. The Deep Water Torps are not that much of an issue as it's rare you torp enemy DDs and you can usually dodge enemy torps as long as you don't fail smoke camp. Failing that, your two choices would suggest USN as they become very good multi purpose DDs, also from T7 onwards. Plus wait long enough and the Sims will be back on sale. KM DDs are ok but they're the classic Jack of all Trades but Master of None. The higher tier ones have good AP vs broadside stuff but overall have awful HE DPM. RU DDs are interesting but are more all for the guns. Leningrad is probably the last traditional DD of that line and it's a Prem ship. IJN DDs are ok but they're mostly torp boats. Harekaze is the greatest thing ever but might not be sold again and needs a unique captain to really work with the B Hull. Not sure if I class as a DD main but I've played quite a bit of them...

Oh yes, it needs looking at. WG seem to have perfected the grind to R1 as most will need between 200 to 400 games at a 50%ish WR but I for one get less and less satisfaction every time. I'm only doing it to farm salt in the Black then that'll be it for me...

Well I'm just saying I hope no one is doing it primarily for the gold as it's worth next to nothing compared to the work that would be put in. And yeah, Ranked is basically Random Battles + mode.

You know 2.5k gold is about 10 Euros or £8.50p? That's for easily 150+ battles if not double that...

The rewards for people who haven't got R1 multiple times are pathetic. 5 of those Elite flags and one Special module for R4 to R2. 5 flags... Might as well go AFK on PT, you'll be less stressed and get reasonable rewards. So don't play for the ranked rewards

EL is actually quite good on Cruisers with viable AP as sometimes you need to hault the HE spam with a quick AP punch... I've had success with it on the Moskva.

CW/CB is not Ranked. They're miles a part. If you play the same in Ranked than in CW then it'll end in tears at least for a DD. WG are better off stopping the top loser keeping a star as farming damage without team play has become a legitimate way to get to the top.

I'll save my full opinion for when I finish the season but Ranked hasn't changed at all. It's still a game about DDs, which team's ones are better, which can spot, which can torp, which can cap, which ones have yolo thrown the game etc Everything else still just supports them or farms damage. You have loads of radar yes but all that does is slow the game down.

I do enjoy the Roma but it's the most derp BB I've played since probably the Myogi It's fun in Randoms when you can just angle and roll the RNG dice at medium range but don't expect it to back you up on a one salvo clutch situation... Getting citadels on mid ranged angled BBs is pretty sweet. Although the low calibre also leads to a lot of bounces.

Star saving play will take along time to achieve as winning is more about damage... As there's still no guarantee playing to farm will net you first place. If the team collapses too fast a BB will melt under focus fire and if a friendly DD is good then they'll just cap and kill enough enemy DDs to best a pure damage farmer.

Ranked is Ranked. It's a test of your mind set as much as it is your ability as you need tolerance to advance. I'm still laughing at the loser who said they fell from R6 to R10 in a day right at the start of a game then said they were only going to farm stars instead of cap. Needless to say we lost that game hard but I kept my star by playing constructively. I took another star from them about an hour later as they were throwing on the other team.

Have to agree. Having played both seasons of CW I've found a good clan makes it all pretty enjoyable. First Season wasn't working but the one just gone I'm amongst a great group of folk who worked around all our personal lives, we all got a Stalingrad flag and I farmed something in excess of a million Elite XP. Ranked is far more random and gives far less rewards unless you're talking Flint or Black.

Only DDs worse than Shima are the two Rashan ones arguably. US, PA and KM are all top picks. But yeah the sheer RNG is crazy. Usually the best CV means an almost assured win but last night the one on my team got sniped as First Blood but it was the last ship we lost and we completely face rolled the enemy. I'm doubting it happened when i think back to it

Get in Ranked! It feels like 50% of all DDs are Shimas which confuses the hell out of me as it's probably not that good a pick...

Btw you missed one: Lack of T10 Prem ships so XP multipliers can't be abused
