The NY felt awful when I used her but I'm more experienced now and the Texas plays a lot better for me. Tex does have better turret angles, reviews online can point you towards the specifics.

I've only played a few of this map but it seems to amplify the high tier "slow paced" style of gameplay... I don't like it!

I agree with that, as it would please all the history buffs and those who just want the biggest hardest hitting guns on their BB!

I must be the only one who is looking forward to a historically inaccurate Gnesi... Having 3/4 of a Tirp/Bismarck's guns at T7 appeals to me. Regardless of how paper the ship.

Well the WG Birthday weekend just gone, I played quite a few games of Tirp. It varied between just myself and SEVEN of the dammn things in any single game. Probably averaged about two per team... Imagine what it'll be like when the Scharn is released. 5+ in every game between T5 and T9

This actually happened to me yesterday and its probably the WORST game of WOWS I've ever had I was on Estuary in my Saipan in a Standard game, we lost in 6 minutes 20 seconds. I did 28k damage from two torp bombing runs AND CAME TOP OF THE LOSING TEAM?! How is that even possible...I'd love to name and shame the people in it as I cannot see how its possible for a team of average players to lose a Standard game in that length of time.

True, I've found whenever I play T8, its essentially a top tier game with 9s and 10s a lot of the time. But I always expect that which is why I judge any T8 ship by how well it can cope vs the best that's out there. A part of this has been skewered by people's choices of ship I think. With the most famous example I can think of is the Tirpitz, for awhile it felt like every game between T6 and T10 had atleast 1 if not 3+ Tirps taking part lol...

+/-2 is fine... Nice to be top of the tree as well as the underdog sometimes. Wouldn't be enough variation if it were only +/-1

Unless you completely suck you will not lose credits in a Tirp. I can only recall a handful of times I've ever lost credits using her and one of them was a detonation. Even without Prem she still pulls in a fair bit. At the moment I'm running Prem time with Prem consumables, she profits every game. If you want a Texas for BB captain training then I suggest you get an Arizona. Texas only has a 30%+ Captain XP with her camo but Arizona has 50% (T5 Prem vs T6 Prem).

I wouldn't be hugely afraid of a Scharn's torps in a higher tier BB. It only has 3 per side and my experience in a Tirp tells me that generally you're not landing the entire salvo with a 100% hit ratio (unless you're that ATSF guy vs scrubs). Even if we give the Scharn 2 out of 3 torps, you're only talking around 20k damage which is essentially one good citadel striking salvo. Add the one good free salvo your guns might get which will be about 10k. Both T9 BB knock on the door of 90k hp... The Scharn will be on a more level playing field but the opposition will be far from sitting ducks. Of course that's just a 1v1 scenario!

I'd guess the weekend. Question is would it be limited or just permanently in port/shop? Latter would save all the "Pls give Tirptiz" that the bigger ship had. I was guilty of asking WG that on occasion

I think that guy is trolling or just needs to go try it. Granted with BB you would seldom change to HE unless you've just fired. Any hit on a DD with BB guns is going to hurt it. Every drop of HP is valuable for them... Landing even a few of a "weak" HE salvo is likely to chop 1/4 hp or more off a DD, see modules damaged and will likely start fires too...

Anything hitting a DD with HE is going to hurt it bad... When ppl say HE is bad I always see that meaning against bigger ships.

I'm really looking forward to the Gneis. 75% of a Tirps guns can't be bad... Bismarck looks promising too. Long range secondaries instead of very situational torps.

Iowa is simply a better ship on every level. However, it's problem is that it is T9 and has the top tier team camping issue. The other issue is that the Iowa is huge. My only ever 100% hit ratio torp bomber strike was against an Iowa. Both NC and Iowa benefit hugely from CE, Iowa for instance has a detection range of 12.2km which is just crazy for a huge 33 knot fast battleship. As much as I love it. I don't play her that often...

Yes the Arizona annoys me somewhat as it's the better ship vs BB and it's camo gives 50%+ Commander XP and not 30% as in the Texas... I would have held on if I knew, and it's also why I'm a bit annoyed its not 50% off in the birthday "celebration".

Despite what people tell you, it's just a buffed NY. Epic AA that either completely destroys waves or blunts them so they suffer. Despite that people will still try and bomb you I really enjoy my one, I paid for the Merica camo and spread freedom across the EU on a regular basis. I'm just a bit sore I paid full price...

Or drawing the team to where you're clicking so you look stupid when the drop fails

Credits are no object for me but I still barely play T9/T10. T5 to T8 are where the balance between fun and so srs play is.
