I fell from Rank 5 to 7, fought up to R5 +1 star. Went away and looked my my mistakes, reviewed every loss/death etc. Some battles are impossible yes but i think I've made improvements. Onward to 1... -
I'd much rather the average player used mods and became a bit competent. Or do you enjoy playing Random Battles as the hard carry all the time?

Is this the Running Lights mod? That has a dot above the enemy you've targeted? The Navigator mod has a full compass showing angles of you and the respective ship you're targeting. WG should add something like it yeah, although it only really helps bigger ships & AP users. E.g it's useless for a DD in Ranked which is where I am right now!

Fell from Rank 5 to Rank 7 (don't ask) a few days ago. Fought tooth and nail today, recovered Rank 5 +1 star. The lower ranks are utter hell now -
The crates look interesting. I'll take the increased prem ship chance one every time. Don't expect to win anything tho...

Please stop talking about CV, I'm still having nervous twitches at the thought of playing with someone who was a Strike Lex at Rank 8. And no he wasn't that StarBuck guy either!!!! -
Urgh!!! I've seen CV players with the Lex go Strike build in Ranked... The 10 to 5 bracket too.

The current MM means the Scharn is an monster. When it's top tier it's demonically powerful in the right hands, which is fairly often these days. As a BB the gameplay doesn't change much even if you're two tiers under. Your primary goal is to kill cruisers anyway and they all melt just as easy except for maybe the T10 stuff. Don't lead obviously and most random teams won't give you that much attention. Mind you, when I'm top tier BB and I've farmed all the cruisers I'll start bullying the lower tier BB. Weaker armour (and usually players too) make them a good source of stats padding... Yes I'm a bad person I feel the cruisers pain however... Also sold my Konig because it's essentially unplayable vs T7 with 16" guns and/or thick armour.

As others have said don't wander too far from your team. You're mostly there to screen your fleet and they are usually shooting stuff you spot unless you are knife fighting other DD. If it's a single plane then a Benson and probably Lo Yang & Trashkent can shoot it down. A smoke can stop dive bombers getting you if it's really desperate, waste of a smoke but it's still better than dying.

I never thought of it that way. Explains while my Benson Ranked stats are way worst than my Bismarck ones, I'm however winning a lot more...

Even the best players aren't realistically going to win more than 70% to hit R1. Out of the folk who have already hit R1 this season, most of them are about 55% win ratio. With a few 60%+, highest is 67% of games won. So even if you're extremely good, there are simply going to be quite alot of unwinnable games.

The pink system can be a bit silly. You can do 1 dmg to kill and get pink'ed but you can do 20k to a BB and not sink them but be ok. I did that once in S4 Ranked, the guy wasn't happy

Last Irrevocable Rank as 12 feels fine. Anything higher up would just lower the standard. After you're accustomed to a rank then it's fairly hard to drop too far. I've managed to hold strong on ranks I've gained after a bit of yo yo-ing. Thing is though, every loss of a star potentially needs two wins to make progress again if you don't come top of the losers. So what someone will need to rank up can quickly snowball.

WG are in a bit of a rut now as if they ever make Ranked easier in the future there will be alot of rage at those who struggled through in the bad old days. I don't want a Flint either, I'd rather pay than go through the Ranked pain multiple times. -
I can see the point I think maybe the top two of the losing team should keep their star and the bottom of the winning team should lose theirs... It's very much objective based tho. Won quite a few as DD where we've had far less ships but held caps and sneaked around long enough to win on points.

You really need to fight tooth and nail for every star. Don't just grind. Even killing 2 then dying yourself might not be enough. You need to be able to hard carry every game. Some have already hit R1 in under 200 games. I've hit 5 in 130 games. I would suggest neither are a case of luck or being carried all the way.

High Calibre doesn't mean a thing in Ranked. I used to get all the damage awards in my Bismarck but could never win and was treading water at R10. Now I've switched to the Benson I'm R5 but my damage/scores are mediocre.

Scharn and Gnesi are very long ships, they're fairly easy to torp bomb. My record is a full house against a Gnesi (landed every torp) one shot kill... That was with an IJN CV with 2x4 squadrons though.

I think the tooltip in PT said it would be claimed for you at the end of each day if you didn't claim yourself manually. The crates seem fun, I'd take the "try my luck" one every time as I don't have much of a need for credits and flags ontop of my normal play.

CE all the way... I'm a BB player mainly but in S4 of Ranked I used the Blys as the meta of Ranked is basically DDs dictate the vast majority of games. This season I hoped Bismarck would let me play my preferred class but after days of being stuck at Rank 10 I bought a Benson. That was about a week ago, I'm now Rank 5... Nothing better than not being seen when you understand how to utilise it.

Can anyone tell me ANY reason why someone plays Lex Strike setup other than to troll and deliberately lose stars?! I've seen about 3 in the last few days and every time its an automatic star loss -
I do save my flags for special occasions but for high tier BB I at least roll with Prem Consumables even in Random Battles. Most decent BB players shouldn't be short of the Dreadnaught and Fire flags.

Killing 1 for 1 isn't enough no, to get up there you need to hard carry all the time. Or at least stay alive instead of trading so you can influence things more...
