Tirp camo is great, I still play her nearly daily. But that's partly because of sentiment as a Bismarck is more in your face action. Shino campaign is a bit of a pain too, the second stage with cruiser citadels/secondary disables drove me up the wall!- 168 replies

"Apparently" the boxes are decided at the point of sale, so buying in small batches will re-roll and update to what you might get in comparison to what's in your port.

Bought a Shokaku today, couldn't be bothered to wait for a discount as I've got too many credits anyway. It's rough to play as I'm not spending free XP on it. First investment was in the 2/2/2 deck, although I'm wondering if that was a mistake as at T8 and higher games there is almost no point providing air support to your allies. I've tried protecting ships with my single fighter and found that most ships can handle in-coming planes themselves!

The bias is that they even exist in game at all. So many great nations during the 20th century in terms of naval ships. Russia wasn't really one of them... Large chunks of the RU ships are paper. Also Nikolai and Gremy might want some consideration...

The problem is the majority do not work as a team and are clueless as once a fort cap is taken then it's very unlikely that team will be losing it. Did have a good Bastion game yesterday actually but that's because my team went all in and rushed the middle fort cap, with BBs aswell as DDs etc. Was over in under 10 mins as the enemy camper team didn't get a look in.

The smoke mechanics are fine, especially as WG nerfed them recently with ships at speed being revealed. Deploying smoke then shooting from it needs a degree of awareness as if you're the spotter ship you often become unable to shoot anything as no one has eyes on stuff

Been a long time since I played the Wyo, but I recently tried to play the Myogi again and sold instantly because it's guns are trash. Sadly I have a Nikolai now and it's brutal down there. Can't really suggest how to fight one if you're in a BB other than maybe HE or hope the player gives you a broadside and or rushes into brawling range. From 10km or so range you will lose to Nikolai every time. Short, squat USN BB like NY/NM/Colo are great at dodging torps both from DD and aerial ones. The IJN stuff is far longer and as a result can't dodge nearly as well. The current T7 top tier MM thing may make grinding up from NY a bit more painful than it used to be... -
WG are probably wanting to emulate this: Detonating German ships because Russia is stronk Skip to the end if you just want to watch something blow up!

Thing is, it's rich from WG as they suggest the skill shake up is to provide more variety with captain skills. This is largely achieved with 0.6.0 HOWEVER this RDF skill undoes everything they've planned and then some. It's essentially a must pick for any gunboat/DD hunter/torp boat as if you do not pick it you are going to be at a massive disadvantage even before any hydro, radar or spotter plane is popped. And please don't add a Radio Jamming type skill either as that would be another must pick, potentially wasting anywhere up to half a captain's skills down the drain simply to keep up. For a team that's done fairly well on game balance how can the developers not see this? Clearly the ST community are either all yes men or aren't listened to either

There is enough material on the Tirpitz to know whether it is worth buying or not, it's a ship that's been around for over a year now. Numerous reviews, forum posts and YouTube videos of top level players (Flamu) to chatty potatoes (Jingles LOL ) The folk crying out for buffs are only doing so because of the release of the Bismarck, that doesn't actually change how the Tirpitz performs. Lets put it another way, Bismarck can and should fight in the open welcoming all towards her secondaries etc. Whilst a Tirpitz can also fight in that matter, she is better employed as a stealth vessel with use of islands and concealment to get the jump on ships to torp or surprise attack. If you were to give her hydro she would become insane, and no smoke either as with a spotter plane that would be pretty broken too. Extra speed is meh, it's a few knots and largely irrelevant. Try asking WG for a refund and state the reasons. I imagine it won't be successful...

It's a fun little ship, surprisingly tanky until you meet 15" guns. Forget it when 16" guns show up as you're just one big fat bag of XP waiting to be popped. Turrets are great, very easy to keep on target and they don't seem to get knocked out much anymore. The talk of both turrets being fried is exaggerated, In fact I believe turret knock outs were nerfed awhile ago so BB seldom lose them these days. Hell even DDs don't seem to lose them all that often now. I swear by AP only, I do for the Scharn and Dunker's guns have better pen and dispersion... Personally I prefer the Warspite, as her guns are simply early 20th century rail guns. However there's no reason why you can't enjoy both as they play drastically different. -
I could live with rockets but even they would be a bit silly as it would be essentially a massive burst damage like torps but more reliant on the user as it would be impossible to dodge. Mines would legitimise camping, you'll get all the losers logging onto here saying "TOLD YOU 16KM SNIPING WAS HOW TO PLAY!" And guided missiles, just no. Unless WG want to give the Missouri her cruise missiles also to prove they're not Russian bias

I honestly feel the Tirp is fine in her current form. There has been some power creep from the Bismarck and with patch 0.6.0 the potential for a full secondary stealth build is possible which might actually damage Tirp's prospects. But overall the ship performs when needed, you're essentially asking for P2W buffs which would make the Tirp monstrous in the right hands.

Interesting analysis on the RL Tirp. However your in game stats are invalid. There were a huge amount of simply clueless people who bought the Tirpitz and went straight into T8 games without any experience. That's done awful things for its stats. The ship herself is awesomely strong in game, look at how the top 25% perform in it for it's true ability...

Finished today, including the last stage of the AGS to actually unlock the thing. I started last week when AGS was unlocked for all. Didn't pay for any of it as I think I paid enough over Xmas for the stupid boxes. Got Gremy and Nikolai from them so can't complain too much. Rocking out the Tirp camo and a Leander that I've been after for awhile. Hardest missions were the 500k earnings as I don't have a Missouri. I accomplished them with Atlanta and Tirp, too hard in a silver ship. Made somewhere in the region of 30 million credits whilst grinding however... You can only "complete" the Convoy missions with a Tirpitz as it's needed to play the final mission. Plus the reward is for the Tirp.- 168 replies

Had a moron last week that went AFK in their Scharn as soon as they saw it was a T9 game... Sadly any T8 or T9 ship is essentially considered top tier for MM. Same as T5 ships are often thrust into T7 games...

Tirp has excellent armour, torpedoes, good concealment, the guns are perfectly serviceable and will do their job. Has no real weaknesses other than it's not a sniper.
