DDs at long range are hard to hit, you can even try baiting noob Belfast players by revealing yourself if you feel brave. Scharn is an awesome ship, only BB for this season imo. Secondaries and fast firing guns give you a fighting chance to kill DDs. Belfasts when lent smoke clear up. Their own charges need to be supplemented...

Fiji is great fun in Random Battles. It's possibly a decent anti Belfast ship with spotters.Haven't tried it myself yet. Yes, it's brutal in the right hands but fails when potatoes use her. It's impossible to deal with as a BB if you try to push and one pops smoke and starts the spam. Shooting the smoke doesn't really work reliably as smart folk move and RNG is epic without targets locked.

Problem is as the game starts shifting and your allies have died you can be stuck there and flanked. I guess if that's happened then you're screwed anyway.

Atlanta's shell trajectory is truly epic. Lobbing islands that no one has any prospect of shooting you back to. Her issue is that without friendly smokes you're pretty much dead in the water.

Belfast does have a few predators in Ranked. Shira can torp saturate her to hell although that's essentially a one shot trick as if you fail to kill the CD on the Reload Booster is huge. Naga can pin her at longer ranges than the Germans but Naga had better hope to one shot you as her HP will fall fast to IFHE spam. Likewise with Colo. CVs can bomb her although they are rare and just staying with your fleet nullifies them. Other Belfast and Atlanta can challenge you i guess but that means others need to bring the OP ship too.

The amount of damage this thing does to the Colorado Ang Nagato is tragic... The Germans fair a bit better and if you're lucky your BB can get damage saturated. Belfast is not an automatic win by any means and hitting R1 in it still needs skill and awareness but as much as other ships?

Sigh,I really want to not use this and want to do the noble thing by Ranking with a BB (as I main BB). Even taking a break in Random we got farmed by a Rank 2 Belfast player, he got 6 kills. I've got a 14 point RN captain ready to go, maybe it's time to sell out...

If it bothers you just wait for a discount. Mutsu isn't the sort of ship that's going to be limited edition as it isn't massively op imo

Yeah anyone who plays Colorado is insane or wants to lose. All it needs is for your team to go to the opposite cap and its GG basically... All 3 BBs share the issue that they get shut out the DD point capping that is so vital to Ranked. Scharn works best for me as the guns reload and track fast enough to at least have some hope of hitting DDs.

Mahan has a similar problem to the Sims, until all the Belfast (and Atlantas I guess) are dead then you have to assume a detection range of about 8km from there her guns are not quite as effective. I've actually gone back to the Scharn as the amount of Belfasts means I can been reasonably safe from being torped

Warspite is epic and it has better armour than this thing along with pin point dispersion... I'll get Mutsu at some stage but when it's on offer since I'm still in Ranked and I've got plenty of ships to play anyway.

The issue with Sims torps is their damage sucks @$$, they're essentially 50% as powerful as the IJN ones and when you consider how hard it is to get torp hits anyway...

Longer range torps are best, they're better for area denial rather than killing. A Belfast can swallow 2 of them and laugh which is annoying when other torps slay them easily. You'll never use the 5.5km ones in the current Ranked meta of radar abuse. Sims XP multiplier is bull$hit, once you understand the ship it's fairly easy to do well as you just seem to earn more xp. Mine has RDF and Concealment, it gives pretty decent map control.

Shira is better than Akat in Ranked, despite Akat having slight better torps and that one single extra gun... The ability to burst 16 torps or to have the constant threat of being able to chuck them out is invaluable. I still haven't found a ship I really want to play and do well in this season. Already been through the following and thought against these: Nagato: Weak armour and the guns are simply too situational, too much overpen at close range and they fire too slowly for the pace of Ranked. Gnesi: Not enough guns and they are somewhat derpy, it's a BB and doesn't fit the Ranked meta. Scharn: Great BB but again it's a BB. You snack on torps or often end up too far away to make a difference. A bit weak vs other BBs. It can however shoot DDs reasonably well with the 9 gun shotgun spread. CVs: I'm simply not skilled enough at them, good players in them are something to behold but I'm not there yet. Shira: Amazing torps, can't do much else as close in USN DDs have your number, further away everyone else does. However when one gets by on the flanks it can grief an entire team. Sims: Has some sort of OP XP multiplier so you score more points than on other ships. Great knife fighting potential, amazing map control with RDF, even the torps aren't too bad as they're long range and smoke campers don't move anyway. Low damage potential though so it's hard to make a dent in the enemy team. Atlanta: Off the chart damage potential, but you need allies to win as you can end up trapped behind an island whilst your team yolos and suicides. Shells lob and can troll people who cannot shoot you back. Also has some sort of crazy XP multiplier, 60k damage is often enough to have you top of a losing team by quite a margin. Belfast: Great all round ship, obscene IFHE damage and lol immunity zone if DDs dare come within 8km. However I find the smoke meta desperately boring, might sell out and come back to her if I'm not winning. Yet to try Fiji but can't see it being better than Belfast in Ranked as she lacks radar. And the sAP won't put out quite as much damage, although Cruisers might go down faster as you'll get citadels amongst all that shell spam. So currently it's the Blys, decent all round DD and can fight beyond the Belfast's radar zone. Can go around setting troll fires on bigger ships, able to fight DDs at medium range and has functional concealment. But we'll see...

I've gone from Shira to Atlanta to Blys now... Still trying to find what I enjoy and what works in Ranked.

What sort of damage would you do in a Flint? Although if you say there is no need for smoke due to the meta...

Hydro instead of AA I'm guessing? Unless you see a CV in queue?

AR, a BB doesn't need DE imo as your main source of damage is always going to be AP.

When I hit ranked last season in Atago I would go "SHEEEETTT" and press escape if I saw CVs in queue and change Hydro for Defensive AA

For Bismarck I take Manual AA, AFT and Manual Secondaries... You become a floating fortress, anything coming near you is going to feel the pain. Yes CE is good but that's something I use on the Tirpitz as a stealth mid range cruiser sniper.
