A short 5min video with how to Manual Drop with examples, advice on spotting and who to target first and lastly how to strafe and look after your planes might raise the general standard a bit.

This could potentially be a very strong Ranked ship in the right hands. Essentially immune from aerial torps and has massive AA.

CVs are extremely powerful but I don't think it's their ability to slice up a full hp BB. It's their ability to kill solo DDs/other solo riders and spot for your ships. This quickly snowballs as the enemy can lose all it's spotters and your side cruises to victory.

My average CV damage is only about the same as my BB average damage. I tend to go for the smaller ships at the start. I only go for solo BBs later when they've hopefully had their AA HE spammed down. Which leads me to think that BB would be killed via other means anyway.

Top plane kills are explained by a CV having fighters! You're not going to get loads of plane kills via AA on your CV. I run full spec AA on my USN BB and Manual AA on my German ones. I don't hugely fear CVs coming for me. As IJN BB it's a little more of an issue. Mid tires are also unpleasant with skilled CV pilots. You should give higher tier CVs a try yourself. It isn't as easy as you might think.

Isn't it a waste of skill points on a Khab? I'd still be tempted by SE, BFT and DE 3x3 build with AFT as the only 4th level skill. Enemy DDs aren't going to come near you anyway as you've bullied them away. -

RDF boosted me to R1 this season in a Sims. Yes. Quite often it's useless but pays for itself when: A: Approaching a cap. B: Stopping flanking DDs. C: Torping smoke. It's especially powerful 1v1 when the enemy tries to hide in smoke and they don't have RDF. You basically have a massive advantage as you can counter their movements precisely. I'd use it on USN DD only however. No good on other ships. -

Sims is just the first taste of high tier USN DD. Benson and Fletcher play in a very similar fashion, just with better torps and more HP. I've only really learned the meaning of close support this Ranked Season and team play is op. Plus as the smoke and spotter you can watch others do the heavy lifting for you. -
CV Defensive Fire is a fairly new addition, it was put in to stop sniping. Very different to Cruisers who are AA equipped and are expected to push. The AA rating isn't the hard measure of AA power... You hate being farmed by CVs and either can't understand or don't want to counter it. I look forward to the salt when I get Hakaryu

CVs have the best AA?! I think you just irrationally hate CVs, they've been steadily begged for over a year now too. You probably don't remember the days of double Midway torp bonnets and far less Defensive AA cover.

yeah but there's other strong ships. It's Ranked that's caused the rage but I don't think Belfast is anywhere near an automatic win. Then again I couldn't win in Belfast even with IFHE and CE so maybe I know nothing. -

I've grinded up to T8 in IJN CVs and I'm on T6 with USN. I also play T5 still as i Div with friends. There's actually more higher ability players the lower down you go. One good strafe at T5 vs an enemy CV usually means they're not recovering so it makes seal clubbing that much easier. -
How are you getting farmed in the first 2 mins by a CV in a BB? Unless you've got a bad spawn or are deliberately going solo? I mean if you were a DD complaining I might understand a bit more. Higher level CV play is about killing the smaller stuff first to leave fat slow ships defenceless...

Have you played up to high tier CVs yourself? It isn't all that easy. CV damage can be minimised, or find a RN cruiser or Kutuzov captain who wants to play with you. A full AA spec Kutuzov is capable of nullifying even Hakaryu.

T8 is a difficult CV tier... Whilst your planes are powerful and numerous. Almost everyone packs impressive AA that punishes you if you take you time bombing or they're not alone. If you hate planes that much then get Manual AA and a Double Float plane for the Tirp. And sail in a group. CVs will leave you alone unless all your team die.

19 knots is the key yes... It's 100% guaranteed to keep you within the cloud.

You always see crap like the old Kiev, Strike Ranger, Yorck even in the Ranked Premier League. Although there is a mad man out there who's got to R1 in a Pepsi. No idea how...

WG talking about nerfing Shira is pure face palm. Too many bad BB sending WG tickets about torp walls. I actually find Fiji more fun to play outside of OP abusing IFHE. It's got torps and handles better (faster acceleration & de acceleration). -

Fletcher players "should" be deadly. If they've played up without free XP. It's essentially a buffed Sims & Benson. No idea why WG chose it to be the basis of radar OP DD.

The micro with CV is nowhere near the level of a "real" RTS. Planes don't have multiple abilities nor is there any base building or real time economy... What is it with potato snipers though?!? I'd say about 75% of CV games has low skilled players who's only tactic is to try and snipe me. It always fails, usually with massive losses. Even an idiot that tried to take out my Shokaku last night. Didn't even need Defensive AA to see him off... There's so many bad CV players out there that it makes practicing in CVs hard as you get too used to easy strafes.

One CV question: How the hell do you prepare for Ranked? I do pretty well in Random Battles but find Ranked CV play is way beyond my abilities...
