It just shows how shoddy and down right lazy WG can be with game design and balance. Most if not all ships should be playable but I find Ranger a lesson in pointless frustration. The RNG on USN DB is essentially like having wonky BB guns that take 2/3 mins to reload and fire HE only. Think I'll give up USN CV grinding until changes. Why struggle on in a Ranger where the best loadout is Strike but that is still way inferior to the Kaga? I'm half thinking of joining the anti fun Police and playing AS Saipan.

WG commemorates Jutland every day these days, have you seen the queue in Random Battles? No Dunkirk or Jutland event feels bad, instead it's Midway again... -
Hiryu isn't too bad, I still take mine out fairly often. Less than the Saipan mind you and I almost always end games with almost no Hiryu planes. Ranger sucks, even Strike. I only ever do well in Ranger as a result of the enemy being bad rather than my own ability. With Kagas around I might have to go 1/1/1 or AS Ranger as a Strike one is going to be completely embarrassed.

If you're vs T9 then you're hunting DD only until your allies can HE spam down AA on enemy ships surely? Everyone is talking about how much damage they can do to BBs but how does the multi torp drop do against DDs? I'm loathed to buy Kaga as I'm already well used to the Hiryu and I don't want to give WG more money. Also, a T7 CV vs T9 and an AS Saipan on the other team is nightmare mode

I remember hating the NY when I was grinding it but I like the Texas now so I've probably improved in the interim... NY/Tex does have lol for armour as even skinny Scharn guns can bow pen you at close range. T5 is generally in a tough place with MM these days, probably worse than T8 as there's more chances of you being very new to the game.

Sadly no! RU Cruisers are easy damage farmers, stay at max range. Wait for your side to engage, then pick something to start spamming, when they're on fire then spam the next target. If you get targeted then STOP shooting and use that WASD. Slip into concealment, wait a few moments, pick a target and repeat until the enemy are all dead. It suits the current BB camp meta perfectly, yes sometimes you'll get obliterated by a random BB salvo but you'll do well most games as people simply have no idea how to deal with you or go "OH HE INVIS, I LOSE INTEREST NOW"

Nothing wrong with a bit of AS Saipan to enrage the enemy CV Saipan improves with you, the planes are so swift and the fighters are powerful. I love mine more the better I get at CVs. Only slight issue is DDs can be a little hard to torp sometimes

Part of me wants WG to allow fighter strafe, we'll watch all the low skill blow their ammo on ships instead of doing their actual job.

There are ways of protesting and getting your point across rather than abuse and spam you know... Don't like it then don't give WG money, really don't like it then go do something else.

How does it do vs CVs with a brain? As that's the real test. I'm concerned a Saipan played well will cut the planes to pieces.

WG haven't learnt any lessons... They used to sell bundles before offering the ship alone but started giving us the choice. Hood is a backward step. The only thing they misjudged is annoying some parts of the community with a blatant money grab but it's ok as plenty were willing to pay big money. Likely the same folk who play WoT and shoot gold all the time

Taming DDs eh? So in about a year and a half, Situational Awareness for all, RL/RPF, radar and hydro for loads of ships with IJN DD nerfs on top. How much more do you want DDs tamed?

I won't be buying this as I already have the Saipan which is the most effective CV I own. Saipan only has 4 groups and all are highly affective so no wastage. The real problem with Kaga is that it means a Strike Ranger will be even more of a liability now. Kaga needs to be fought off with fighters unless you want to suffer a lol super torp drop. And I haven't finished Ranger grind yet, guess I'll have to AS and troll everyone including myself

Well I personally think (I will get abuse from the pro scene now) that Ships is not a hugely skilled online game. There's an upper limit to the skills you can display in game because of RNG and it's slower pace. Although the lack of pace and twitch reactions is probably what attracts players to this game... Thing is what do you do once you can farm the common potato and have nothing left to grind for? -

LEL the OP rage.... Thing is you have to look at it like this: Your Unicum ratings have been farmed by a lot of these low skilled players so take the rough with the smooth. Maybe it's time to join a clan and partake in clan battles, or do what I do and wind down a little...- 25 replies

I've used Lex on the PT and she seems like the reward for suffering the LOL that is Ranger... Glad to see more evidence of that.
