Warspite was great for me until R5, superb guns with OP heal. Now i play Farra as a fleet defender. Smoking, spotting and screening bigger ships from other DDs. It's a formula that works very well with a 19 point captain. Already done it in a Sims last season and the play style is essentially the same. Only issue is even in landslide games you tend to come bottom as you do very little damage...

Warspite has patchy armour, can get slapped for 7k+ even when angled. Although I'm not part of this debate anymore as I sold out and started using the Farragut, getting a far better success rate. DDs in Ranked is the only way to fly...

Yeah doubloons and gold in WoT are fast becoming worthless for more experienced players. I'm sitting on enough to buy a Hood but if it's discounted in the store then they're just going to sit there.

No you just smoke and support the BBs who play properly. Ignore the border snipers...

OP a few things however: I do not feel BBs should be pushing, they are to hold one cap and offer tanking/firepower. Pushing is not recommended unless your team is actually losing and you need to make a play. Further to that a team should be holding their formation, you shouldn't be chasing down an enemy DD and smoking for yourself is essentially a mistake a lot of the time. Hmm quite possibly, as I got to R5 by playing pretty aggressive but I seem to have stalled so I might have to modify what I'm doing. My experience in Ranked is with DDs and I'm fairly confident I could slap out R1 in a Farragut rapidly as I know the template of winning Ranked games with USN smoke and close fleet support. I'm here to learn how to BB in Ranked however so I'm loathed to hit the nuclear button and go DD carry mode.

BBs shouldn't be begging for smoke, they don't need it unless they are boxed in. I turn down smoke offers and tell DDs to give it to the cruisers quite often. A BB has 50k+ hp and heal so damn well use it...

I'm finding Mutsu almost as bad as Dunkerque. Whilst I haven't taken either into Ranked I've shot plenty loads and Mutsu is really squishy vs Warspite's 15" guns. That might be due to bad players piloting her however... The interwar 16" do not seem to offer any advantages over Warspite's guns either.

Lowe got buffed apparently after years of being weak lol Eugen literally has no USP, it's completely mediocre on all counts. I guess now it has free IFHE and slightly better armour but I haven't played mine for months.

I imagine the silly Eagle camo is still an extra you have to pay for, gives more credits but you would really have to love being smashed by T10 BB AP to get your money's worth.

Majority of Secondaries are utter trash so I imagine WG made them all the same range to simplify things!!

I imagine he was raging because I farmed him with Warspite 15" AP. Wish he was still on the Forums as he'd probably have posted some sort of X-files rant lol

Always work as a team and never argue, if your team wants to rush the enemy cap and you're outnumbered then you better fall in line. Other stuff ppl have covered mostly and yeah DDs are the Kings of Ranked still. Every other ship class is inferior in the Ranked meta unless you're a boring AS CV player.

Sounds like someone isn't getting close enough... They SUCK vs other BB at long range but close to about 10km and you'll find they get the results that 16" guns should, if they're not performing at close range then it's a user issue. Besides they can't be full fat T7 guns at T6, something called game balance. Also Warspite is better

Yeah most border hugging Fuso fail, that guy sadly knew what he was doing but deserves to fall to R12 lol... I don't even know why ppl Fuso border hug, her dispersion is pretty bad and her guns are relatively low powered. I think a lot of ppl disable chat bit it's one of the keys to winning Ranked. I personally think a good team is where everyone gets very uniform XP. Having one carry actually isn't good. Stick with one ship imo. Never jump straight back into a game with another ship before a game has ended, that loses stars.

Lel as long as you're not going into a high level game with a 0 skill captain. I did that a few seasons ago in the Saipan (well not 0 skill but has not used the ship much). I think I'm still being punished for it now

If all else is lost I might get in a Farra for Ranked. I'd be taking PM, LS, SI, CE, SE, RPF/RL and finally AR in that order. There is no other way to fly in a competitive USN DD build imo. As for tactics it's simple. You screen and support your team. Be between them and the enemy. Now... Don't ever shoot first or even return fire unless you're 100% sure you'll nail the enemy DD. Remember what I said about staying near your team? Well one good allied cruiser salvo will do far more than a dozen of your crappy 127mm shots and that enemy DD who shot you will be lit up for a good 20s before they can slip away, whereas you'll be back in stealth a lot quicker. With RPF/RL your team will never be flanked again and you can chase down folk who think they can smoke camp and hide from you. You only fire your guns if you really have no choice or if it's massively in your favour (e.g don't be that idiot DD who solo spots and gets focused down in seconds). DDs have to stay alive at all costs, a game is almost always lost when the DDs on a team die. These simple tactics propelled me to R1 easily last season, whilst it was with Sims I think my effective WR was around 60%. It's become personal so I'm trying to win Ranked in a BB but the meta was designed for USN DDs with a brain I feel. Something like a Benson would be brutally effective.

So Harekaze is essentially a better balanced Aki in her 100 mm configuration? Shame she's way too pricey for me when I already have both a Benson and a Lo Yang.

Yes, the new Captain XP farming method is to stack up buffs on your best to earn epic Elite XP. Can harvest 20k+ per game.... Duca was too cheap not to, probably won't play it much before the end of the Ranked season. Please don't take it into Ranked if you've bought it today!!

It's actually the worst in the Premier League as bad play is fueled by arrogance rather than just low skill. Like the Farra who solo spots even though he has OP team smoke. And my favourite so far, an utter idiot Rank 2 Fuso who made no attempt to gameplay and didn't talk at all. They went straight to a border and farmed so they didn't lose a star. 57k hp doing nothing until he was the last player

I think there are almost always weekend doubles but I don't think WG have ever promised it's every weekend without fail. People get used to having it... It's spend money and grind Smith week anyway it seems!!

There are actually more bad players in the Premier League than in the First League. As lots of players there think they know what they're doing and go solo as DD or BB Fuso camp to selfishly try and not lose a star. The difference is because they're the top league they think they know best

lel... We've seen each other loads over the last few days I think. That last game was insane, no idea what the rest of my team were doing but at least it didn't cost me a star... Back up to R5 again I go

FP is not something you notice until after a lot of games, as you'll still catch fire from single DDs and Cruisers. But eventually you'll notice they'll rarely be able to start more than one on you as most people can't/don't have the time to aim at tips of your ship to start that 2nd fire.

Well done, not my time yet but I haven't played "that" much yet. Been a day of win, loss, win loss etc I remember seeing you but can't remember the game too well now. It's a bit frustrating when people throw games yes

Saw that SkyBuck guy in a Shino in Ranked. He was pink (surprise) and I got First Blood against him in my Warspite. We won too which made it all the sweeter and he said something unintelligible to me in chat when I died.
