I found it easy, sail at half speed so you're constantly escorting your flock of civilian ships. Focus on killing the PT boats, you have to aim lead miles ahead. Click on planes you want to shoot down, it helps. Finally make sure as many of you as possible help the British AI fighters as they will help you shoot down the German ones and the remainder will assist you in return vs the final wave of German Bombers. -

They nerfed full speed boarder surfing at least but weird stuff still happens at the edges yeah. It's horrible trying to bomb someone with CV planes when they're on a boarder... -
That's why I stopped playing CV in Ranked. It's a bull#### knife edge spotting fight where one mistake means you're facerolled. Although I did outplay some pretty decent players along the way, the APM needed and laggy controls meant that the game leaves you a nervous wreck after every game...

Secondaries should be buffed to max range on Germans and Manual Fire if you can afford it but that's it. Ultimately your main guns will do in one good salvo what your secondaries need minutes of sustained fire to do. The purpose of secondaries is in their name, they're not your main source of damage. Don't forget German BB guns have pretty good close range penetration (I don't know the stats but they're pretty much on par with 16" guns when close in). -

Don't worry about damage or PR. I got R1 in Sims last season and my damage/PR was deep into the red. Gallant doesn't feel much different. If you're team playing properly you only need spot, smoke and kill the odd low DD/low HP cruiser. The torps are good to throw into smoke and force BBs to give yours broadside. WR is all that matters in Ranked. -

I don't believe Gallant is meant to get high damage. It's better to bait enemy DD into shooting you so your team can nail them whilst you keep your own guns silent and slip back into stealth whilst they're lit up via gun bloom. -
Yeah I'd like to know the answer to that. Doesn't something like a double float Yam have almost as many planes as a T4 CV lol

The only way to get Clear Sky at any tier is to be fed planes. It's a stupid award and WG really need to tweak it. I've seen two CVs in Ranked Premier League get it in under 8 mins which is an utter facepalm

Got 4 Stars on my 2nd attempt. First try I failed in Anthony then I had to use Cyclone 2nd try as the RN Captain was press ganged into my Ranked Gallant... Just sail with the fleet, shoot the PT boat things and hope your team AA bubble can shread enough planes. I enjoyed the operation at least -

For me yes, as I'm a huge Sims fan and Gallant has a touch of what made Sims great. Shino was not to my tastes simply as the guns fire too slow, turrets are too slow too and the ship itself feels really long so I eat more fish than I am used to. Others have hit R1 in Shino with no issues and I'm still in a bitter war of attrition at Rank 3 however -
Mutant KGB at T8 still winds me up... As does Nelson paywall. Perversely I'd have bought a T8 Vanguard Prem as long as it performs ok. RE a Prem RN BB I had assumed the Hood was going to be released as the RN BB Prem to accompany the tree...

Shattered shells ignite?! Is that because the fire icon replaces the shell hit like a citadel hit? I always assumed a shatter could be treated as a dud/null hit...

High Risk plays in Ranked right at the start of games annoy the hell out of me. It's pretty selfish as it relies on that player winning their own fight and if it fails it costs the entire team. It's worse at the Premier League level as people always think they know best... I'd much rather lose as a team in 20 mins and one ship loss than losing in minutes via yolo no teamplay. -

The loan 19 point captain is bull... Even though I am abusing him hard right now. It won't propel anyone to R1 alone but if you're a good DD captain and in the Premier League then you've got a week and a bit with a fully kitted out 6km detection DD with powerful torps and decent self defence guns. With RPF, CE, SI, SE, AR etc you've got no excuses not to be the ultimate support DD in Ranked. -

Oh and reviews say the slow reload on the torps is may be a problem but I disagree. Not been in a situation yet where I think it's been an issue. -
Clear Sky for non CV are essentially impossible. I got one in a 1/1/1 Ranger the other day as a Kaga player basically thought his planes were Kamikaze even though RL Kaga sunk before Imperial Japan got desperate

I'm finding Gallant very much to my tastes as a DD. 6km detection is very nice and the ship is pretty fast too. Plus hard hitting torps with a single fire ability lets you set up interesting torp walls if you're up to it. The guns are a self defence weapon or a firestarter vs bigger ships. USN rules apply (no sniping due to shell float). -
I'd have probably bought the Hood if it was released as ship only at the start. But I'll only get it at a discount now as WG's lol business tactics leave a bad taste. Hey at least it's not WoT where they sell £100 of Gold and give you a "Free" rare Prem. That's like selling you £100 of Doubloons and giving you a Gremy on top...

Erm it works in Ranked too... I have no idea if WG intended it (I imagine they did as it's basically P2W). A fully loaded 19 point (that's with goodies like RPF, SI, SE, AR etc) DD in this season of Ranked with 6km detection and powerful torps is a beast... Whilst it will go in just under two weeks time, that should be enough time for me to make a final push towards the top. -
That sounds like some sort of tank simulator... One kid as the driver, one as the gunner and you as the commander

There is actually an argument for the skills not to be tiered so strictly or for you to need X skill points before getting a second lower tier skill as a balance to that. It would need a lot of play testing to work however. 19 point captains are very useful to earn elite XP as well as being able to max out your ships. I find DDs really need decent captains whereas most BB can do fine with just 10 or 12 points.
