Firstly take Fire Prevention after Concealment Expert, always let one fire burn itself out. Mount India Yankee flags and Damage Control 2 if it bothers you that much, personally I run with Rudder Shift. 25mm bows are on all T7 BBs, even the mighty Scharn and Gnesi have soft noses. However the two German sisters do have 50mm decks which is where KGV falls down as she only has 25mm. Back to the belt, KGV has the thickest belt of any T7 BB so far. It's between 356mm to 381mm. You angle so the enemy stands a higher chance of hitting your belt rather than your soft nose. Take some time out to compare Nagato, Colorado KGV and Gnesi/Scharn armour patterns and you'll find KGV's armour is very competitive and arguably one of the best. The Germans probably edge it as their decks have double the armour of anyone else at the tier, they have a decent turtleback and have an extra 70mm strip of bow belt armour.

Well loads of kids are crying out for Dasha... Wouldn't say no to her (BEING ADDED TO THE GAME), but few would refuse

KGV's armour is fine, her belt is pretty impressive and you can bait people to shoot it. I actually don't think she's too far off the armour of a Scharnhorst. In fact KGV feels like playing a Scharn that is accurate out to longer ranges but lacks brawling ability. I'm really liking the ship, doubt I'll be Free XP skipping anything else in the RN BB line.

I imagine Jackie D's portrait cannot be changed at all unless with mods... It's like asking to change Seagul or Yamamoto, they're unique captains!

Argument to replace HMS Iron duke already
RUSSIANBlAS replied to cometcruiser's topic in Battleships
At T5 Duke's AP is more than fine yes. I got bored of sailing a slow BB around so I skipped up to KGV. Prob cost about 100k Free XP but I've got reserves of it... I might still keep her, I've only kept Kongo out of the T5 lot and I own a Texas which is enough for my slow @$$ BB needs! -
I've tested both and I do not believe you need the rudder mod for the Yam. Take Damage Control 2 instead. You are a mid to long range artillery piece essentially, if you get within 10km you are probably doing it wrong as you can't track targets fast enough and your raised citadel stands a far higher risk of being lolpenned by other BBs. Personally I take CE as my first 4th level skill, everyone and their dog runs CE on BBs these days. If you do NOT take it you will be focused first in every situation, I've had games where I've spawned on the far side of Land of Fire or some other map and I've been killed by Moskva/Zaos/HE Cruisers before I could even get over to my team because I didn't have CE. Granted it's rare it happens but good concealment offers huge tactical flexibility as it allows you to disengage or set up a decent salvo with the other team not knowing you're even there.

RNBB fire spam self fulfiling prophecy
RUSSIANBlAS replied to Admiral_noodle's topic in General Discussion
The thing that gets me is all the potatoes who complain about HE spam or invisible torps then state its unfair. They've clearly not played any other ship that basically spends the entire game under threat of instant deletion the moment they're detected. No other class can actually survive under extended shelling... -
RNBB fire spam self fulfiling prophecy

WG laughs at you. Check their official release article on the KGV. DDs are a primary target for her.. -
I looked at the QE stats then decided to skip. Played a Warspite to an 18 point captain so I saw no need to play a weaker version. Free XP well spent I think! Warspite has stunning AP, a lol rudder and crazy heals. QE doesn't seem to have any of those traits...

RN BBs Armor penetration curves and accuracy curves
RUSSIANBlAS replied to Mik1984's topic in General Discussion
There's pen and accuracy curves for ship's guns, some people go out their way to produce charts. OP might mean those as I haven't seen any RN BB ones yet. -
RN BBs Armor penetration curves and accuracy curves
RUSSIANBlAS replied to Mik1984's topic in General Discussion
Aim that little bit higher with Iron Duke and the AP shells are fine. I think we were spoilt with IJN and USN BBs with relatively good AP calibre and penetration values. RN BB sAP, even KGV's shells are perfectly capable of damaging other BBs at longer ranges. You might not see citadels too often but you'll get decent damage. Although HE vs AP is a bit of a judgment call, no hard and fast rules with RN BB other than AP vs Cruisers. -
Every BB detonation I've suffered via torps has been near the turrets on the main belt area which is funny as it's better to take hits on the belt rather than bow or stern. Unless it's that one time WG wants to give you some flags...

I sold out and Free XP skipped 50% of Iron Duke grind. It's a nice ship and all but I like my BBs fast. Skipped QE as it looks like a weak Warspite! Only played 2 KGV games but it'l rise by the time I check here again. Comfortable turrets and speed for a start. The guns are a little strange but you're reloading in 25s and can really slap that down further with AR. From WG's blurb KGV is the start of the RN BB shift in ethos (well WG's in game design ethos that is), less well armoured than previous BB but now has good detection (12.2km with CE and camo). Feels like she's intended to be used as a mid range opportunist. Also, I took a HUGE citadel from a Nelson in one game whilst heavily angled and a lot of my own 14" were bouncing off her

Is it just me or does the front A turret have a turning bug where it can turn 360 through B?

RNBB fire spam self fulfiling prophecy
RUSSIANBlAS replied to Admiral_noodle's topic in General Discussion
Yeah now I'm used to the AP I haven't even switched to HE for probably 20+ RN BB games. sAP means you aim higher and the damage is very consistent, granted BB citadels are rare (I couldn't pen an NM who was close range broadside to my Iron Duke). Incidentally I just had a guy rage at me because he was in an angled Budy at 6km and called me lucky for nuking him in I.Duke. I was probably a bit rude to him but he claimed to have been expecting a load of autobounces and said I had no idea about game mechanics -
Afaik, subs are not a fleet combat vessel. Atleast not in the time period this is set in. Also sub suggestion=

AP only, great ship... -
RNBB fire spam self fulfiling prophecy
RUSSIANBlAS replied to Admiral_noodle's topic in General Discussion
All the hype around RN BB HE and their lacklustre AP seems to be a bit of an exaggeration. Started playing the Iron Duke and was determined to make AP work and it's just a simple case of aiming a bit higher. That's a T6 game with exclusively AP. Maybe HE could be toned down a little but I doubt I'd notice much. Likewise in Nelson, I've started to use AP vs almost everything other than heavily angled higher tier BBs. -
Donskoi is a great ship yes but this. Got reported earlier by a fail Gearing because I wasn't at radar range. Problem is radar is almost wasted on Dons as if you get within 11.7km you are at massive risk from being halved or even one shotted by the BBs. Plus the radar duration is pretty short, I've only got one Radar module and I've got it on my Neptune as it's a far better DD killer.

So for an almost a new player without knowledge of how to be victorious.
RUSSIANBlAS replied to General_Hawka's topic in General Discussion
Firstly you have bought high tier premium ships before you were ready for them but your points: 1: Start playing a DD line and go around trying to torpedo ships. It will teach you how to use them and therefore how to counter them as you will see good players not get hit by your torps. Atago needs Priority Targeting and Concealment Expert, if you're being shot at by BB then you stop firing and go back into concealment whilst trying to dodge. You will NEVER win a shootout with BBs so you don't engage them if they are shooting you back. The Atago is an excellent ship but it needs experience to use well. 2: Scharnhorst is great yeah... 3: If your team is sailing all in one direction then you pretty much have to go with them. Intelligent targeting will still help however as will trying to tank for your team. 4: I don't own an Enterprise but I don't think buying one without a lot of CV experience was the best thing you could have done. There are guides on how to use a CV. This guy is good to learn from https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxF2lm5U1ihA5dPzg-rE0OQ and there is a reason why his videos are so long. CV play is complicated. 5: Island cover is important, sailing at full speed all the time is not always a good thing. Sometimes you need to hide whilst your ship repair becomes ready or for your team to catch up etc. 6 & 7: That's a plus, sniping in most BB is a bad thing. 8: Personally I say wait, play a lot of the game and learn each ship. Free XP skipping leads to bad things. 9: Lower armoured ships are difficult but it's worth knowing how they work, it will teach you about the game. 10: YouTube videos help as you can watch what happens instead of trying to read a lot of English. 11: This has already been discussed in the thread you want deleted. -
IJN vs USA CV - worst part of this game
RUSSIANBlAS replied to veslingr's topic in Aircraft Carriers
Sho is literally everything a CV player needs. You can grow into 2/2/2 and it will continue to improve with your ability. Even hard T10 games can be managed if you're careful. -
I long managed to grind out the Yam and I've never looked back. Hated the Izumo as it was slow, fat (Yam sized) and the guns were simply not that good for her shortcomings. After playing her on the PT I got thinking. Why not have the 3rd/C turret forward facing instead of an illogical rear facing direction? If Zumo existed I think the IJN would have looked at the Nelson and taken inspiration. Now I know the IJN liked their tear facing turrets as loads of their Cruisers are that way laid out but 3 forward turrets would give the Izumo the sort of angling and direction changing ability that Nikolai, Dunkerque and soon to be Nelson have. Or do WG only want Prem ships to have that sweet angling flexibility? Maybe you think the Izumo is fine as it is perhaps?

A T9 Prem Ship? T8 Prems not expensive enough for you?

Lowe got buffed I think plus I'm used to the VK 45.03! What wouId you suggest is better? I don't like derpy guns so I prefer German.
