The only thing I'll say is that it's almost stupid for WG to be ignoring the plight of actual cruisers by releasing a Super Cruiser BB line... Thankfully I skipped lower tier BBs but I don't see KGV or Nelson to be drastically OP or weak. They're both fairly squishy if mismanaged and both need considerations into what shells to use (Nelson less as 16" can just give a lot of armour the middle finger). Normal complaints at the release of a new line. And yeah, take FP for BBs now for extra lol tank.

WG likely feel that anything less that about 2k doubloons isn't worth the effort in implementing

In Domination games it's quite simply who has the best DD who actually understand how to screen their fleet and cap. I got farmed in my Donskoi earlier as our Benson sat behind us firing at 11km whereas the enemy Gearing was spotting and torping us. I'd have a go at making some tutorial videos or what not as I think I could break things down but I'd rather spend my free time playing

Best thing you can do is wait for the next Public Teat and try both yourself. Others will have their opinions and you'll find info about them everywhere but nothing beats actually testing them. For me, pretty much every German BB after T5 has been great but I'm only on T7 RN line so far.

That other Nelson failed hard and didn't read the notes on his own ship. Far better to use AP vs one as they're not going to be healing half as much as vs HE... Plus it's been said before but AP is very hard to heal. I did 60k burn (HE and fire) damage to a KGV in a Ranger but it was still afloat. A Nelson can take excess of 100k "light" damage and not sink. Not saying HE can't work but it probably needs a few of you saturating a target to overload it's heal and DCP.

Decent damage but it looks like you were fighting mostly well armoured BBs so pure HE was entirely valid. Plus you were up tiered. Nice though Carried by GZ is a serious fail for your CV, although the GZ might have been someone who was actually good!

HE on BBs are a noob trap,at least in Random Battles. I understand it's higher use in Ranked or competitive as there are fewer targets of opportunity. Simply put, thin out the Cruisers,DDs and broadside potatoes before you even think about starting HE spam on things. Gameplay wise I think RN BB are more or less ok (maybe not Orion but I skipped that thanks to WG's blueprint rewards). It's their historical IN-accuracy that grates me. I imagine we'll see a properly armoured KGV class at some stage for £45 and probably a Vanguard for the same price one day...

Lion is epic, has super heal, decent self defence AA, broken concealment and her guns are excellent in both AP and HE. At least she was on the PT. Hopefully I'll get there before the nerfs!

Had some folks whining in game that the entire RN BB line was weak... I think they're great from what I've played and require a bit more care than say the German line. Still have some misgivings about WG's choices on how they've implemented historic ships but that was almost inevitable given where the company hails from...

I would still default to an AP loadout. KGV's guns are incredible vs most cruisers you'll come across. This is where lower penetration helps you, they're better than the Scharnhorst's guns for cruiser killing as you get one more gun and they're a higher calibre. I wouldn't even recommend switching to HE vs DDs unless they're the only things left to shoot. I think the main armour problem is there are big gaps of soft armour unlike German BBs which feel more like a solid shell. Nothing like a Cruiser as it's still a tanky BB...

Check it works for you before thanking me! I think it was some sort of DX11 issue that didn't like Print Screen.

Slightly off topic but Warspite is an utter monster in the current BB heavy mid tier MM... Fighting Iron Dukes, QEs and whatever else at those tiers is easy for Warspite. Your heal is better, your rudder means you can attempt to dodge stuff and your superior AP is just brutal vs all the sAP pretenders.

Check the WOWS folder, there should be one in there titled screenshots. As the PrtScrn only worked pre 0.6.9, now you need to get it out the game folder. Atleast that was the case for me!

I almost relented this weekend with the Pioneer package or whatever it's called but then I did some number crunching and realised it was still cheaper to wait for the doubloon discount, get Cherry on Top and have a few doubs left over for other things.

Seems like when it suits WG they'll be historically accurate and also when it suits them for "balance" reasons they'll fantasise things...

This actually reminded me. I'm sure WG said previously that blueprints for RN BBs were quite hard to acquire and used it as one of their excuses for delays to release. I might have remembered that wrong but I'm sure it was said at some stage. If that was the case then they've basically ignored how the ships were constructed anyway?

Yeah it isn't "that" bad for the MM... That's either A) WG did well spreading out the players with the free blueprints. B) There aren't that many people playing and actually interested... Also KGV is a cruiser citadel machine: I thought German BBs were good vs Cruisers but KGV seems even crazier as it's more accurate and even less likely to overmatch.

I'm ONLY getting Hood when it is discounted in tech tree. It's 9700 now and I believe T7s get a discount of 15% on certain weekends and WG promotions, I'd even go as far to say we may only need to wait 2 weeks as it's WoWS birthday or something soon. Warspite is excellent and so is Belfast but like others have said there are other ways of getting them. Campbeltown is just a port ornament...

T7 vs T9 isn't even "that" bad as at least some of you might have Defensive AA or decent AA values. Try T5 vs a T7 CV now that "is" brutal unless you're a Texas

Both KGV and Nelson feel a little suspect. I imagine we won't hear the end of this as a lot of folk will get rage over it. I'm personally accepting of it even if it's somewhat rude of WG and their various "bias"...

Same reason why Monarch exists rather than Vanguard or something else. T6s and T8s are WG looking for quick fixes. Just reskin something in an afternoon or two rather than re-designing something from scratch. The amount of stuff WG could have squeezed into T6 is a bit embarrassing as that period was the golden age of RN BBs in terms of sheer numbers and designs.

Hey after all this we've got the Monarch to look forward to still... I wonder if it has a frontal immunity zone like the Americans/Germans. Can't really tell from the armour pattern. Meh I still believe it's just lazy design from WG. Oh and Vanguard plus a T8 buffed KGV are quite the money spinners when put together I actually want to keep the KGV but I'll likely transfer my best captain to the Lion as that thing is pretty amazing.

Is it me or did they add Nelson's nameplate on her stern in the last patch? It wasn't there before!

Well no, historically it's somewhat offensive of WG to make KGV vulnerable which I totally agree with. I can see why the Monarch exists in game as KGV with 14", even if supremely armoured may not fit into WG's "pro" gaming ideas as T8 is the competitive tier. Still she could still be balanced, give her Defensive Fire, even Hydro or something else to make up for the slightly lower calibre gun. That's actually not a bad idea for a T8 Prem ship I even think I will enjoy the Monarch but she'll always be a WG Mutant because they were too lazy to create a Vanguard that they're not charging £45 for and they alsowanted our Free XP for Nelson etc insert cynical money grabbing reason. Likely WG assume most folk will not complain about KGV in game being mostly fantasy other than the gun calibre and appearance.
