Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

Is it because you're not actually a Russian Hero Captain who serves his Motherland without question unlike the guy in your pic? I'll see how things pan out as there are still things I enjoy in game. -
Minotaur-Class Cruiser / Swiftsure Class
RUSSIANBlAS replied to MrEasyUK's topic in General Discussion
Na, Edin is the first RN tech tree Cruiser that can rock radar. The MM can be painful but i found her more comfortable to play than the Neptune. I enjoyed mine but after Mino I've only kept Fiji and nothing else in the line. -
Ship "Rentals" = 72 hour ship tryouts reported on NA - anyone seen it on EU?

Duca is bad, it's essentially power creeped by French Cruisers already although they have less armour. I've tried hard to make Duca work but essentially you don't have enough firepower. 8 guns with a mediocre reload time is laughable, many ships simply walk through it. Alabama is nice however, the sigma is irrelevant when you're using her at close range as intended. I like mine but was expensive. -

Only Prem ship I might want now is the Enterprise. I'd wager for the rental games I'd get amazing RNG on the AP DB then miss everything when I actually buy her... -

WG could rent me a Krispy Kreme for a few days then? -
I got a +1 in a Missouri last night as I pushed and got myself into red HP after using all heals. There was 200k+ hp of BB behind me in the green even when I was low... My favourite is still whenever the first DD sees the enemy but isn't spotted, panics then proceeds to smoke up and sits in it blinding the rest of the team. This is extra lol if the enemy has a good CV and ours is bad so we get spotted behind our own smoke.

It really does depend on the BB. One thing to remember is T8+ ships have 32mm bow armour which can completely stop AP from 16" guns or less a lot of the time. You obviously sacrifice the rear turrets being able to fire then. In fact different ships will have different firing angles. The GK is particularly bad from memory as firing the rear turrets expose you to damage. Others have mentioned using the rudder to swing in and out between salvos but that's not always possible in fat high tier ships with slow rudders. Belt armour is often very strong on ships, KGV and the two T7 German sisters are examples. Too much bow is bad in those as bigger guns will blow through your bow armour. Problem with belt armour is the superstructure will still take damage and in KGV especially there are gaps that mean even good angles will get you slapped. Finally I'll add the Hood has excellent firing angles that makes her extremely tanky as you don't need to expose yourself to fire all 8 guns. Generally if you take yellow damage instead of red or even bold red then you're angling well.

Minotaur-Class Cruiser / Swiftsure Class

Wut? Exactly what RU Cruiser gives rise to a Russian Bias? Whilst I'd lean on agreeing it happens in both WoT and here, Cruisers don't really have this issue. Kutuzov could be OP but arguably Belfast is worse. Moskva is the only other candidate I can see and she isn't OP. Very strong yes but doesn't dominate T10 games. Plays like a very light weight BB but the moment you pretend you are one is when the ship blows up. Minotaur and Moskva are the only two T10 Cruisers I own but I've played enough of both to know they've got their places in the game. I'm not one to check stats but have you even played much RN Cruiser? The sAP is essentially very similar from T6 onwards except the volume of fire climbs steadily. sAP really has no issues killing their intended targets e.g DDs and Cruisers. Now the argument whether either should have radar isn't really for this thread either... -
Minotaur-Class Cruiser / Swiftsure Class
RUSSIANBlAS replied to MrEasyUK's topic in General Discussion
The irony is it's more like a chicken pill lol You maintain strict fire discipline and if you're spotted then you best be sure you've got an escape plan or can kill whatever sees you before they squish you! The style of play changes quite a bit and even in a good game your damage may suck but it'll be mostly from DDs. If I kill all the DDs then die after I'll consider it a job well done. Got flamed for having radar by an arrogant Yam who claimed there was no hope for me yesterday. Despite capping two points and nuking all the DDs. I'd rather folk didn't use Radar Mino as often DDs don't plan for you to equip it and they simply die before they can get away. -

Yeah, it's an extremely hit and miss build but then again Mino is that sort of ship. Some maps will utterly screw you yeah but that's why I go for an AA build so I can be a bit of use still by parking behind a central island. Radar Mino is more than just meme videos. It's hugely effective at killing smoking ships and DDs. Radar range is above concealment and it can last 56s with the module. -
Gneisi actually plays very similar to the Hood. Both are supremely tanky BBs that are lighting fast. Hood has more accurate guns and is a mid range machine whereas Gneisi can get a bit closer to brawl when the time is right.

That's why I chose to spec Radar and only hunt DDs. Bigger ships are damaged via torps and if they rush your island. Also if you spec AA and camp a middle island you act as an effective no fly barrier. I didn't like Mino much at first and preferred Moskva but now I appreciate the play style of both. -
You can run away angled and vary your speed to bait people to chase you, it will take a lot to kill a BB doing that. The amount of times I've seen one ship halt half a team as they all chase instead of capping...
-
Overextending in a fast BB is easy to cure. Go at 50% or 75% speed until you really need 100%, stay angled too and be the center of attention in your group of ships. You'll tank a lot and keep speed with everyone else.
-
Meh, only because my Flint doesn't have AFT... Wasn't seal clubbing yet as our CV isn't quite up to speed in their Kaga Gneisi is a solid BB anyway. Although I'm coming from literally hundreds of games in a Tirp and its pretty much 75% of one in every way. A bit ironic as it's a tier lower but arguably harder to play.
-
Well the story behind it is a Clan mate was trying to learn how to Kaga, so we helped him by taking OP AA ships. I even specced Gneisi for full AA... Enemy CV had no idea Gneisi had such an epic bubble but he said something in German in all chat before the game ended... Prob a waste of time when playing solo but in a Div you know you'll be up against whatever tier CV your buddy takes.

Minotaur-Class Cruiser / Swiftsure Class

Minotaur is awesome... I play with radar instead of smoke, it's basically a giant T10 Atlanta. No HE is actually a bonus as after a 10 point captain you can literally put everything into AA, no need for IFHE or Demo Expert. When you have a Minotaur that has somewhere in the region of 550 DPM+ long range AA it become fairly impressive. It can climb way higher than that too. WG are actually helping you by taking away HE and gifting you with sAP.... -
I'll just leave this here...

What's the point in keeping tier 9 ships after unlocking tier 10 for a almost F2P player?
RUSSIANBlAS replied to Favuz's topic in General Discussion
Neptune is worth keeping? Well she has a heavier broadside but Mino has through the roof DPM, for me the Neptune is a no the concealment is beyond the radar range where as on a Mino anything that spots you can be radar slapped in return... -
The Pro CV crew will say AS is bad. USN Fighters are really hard to kill if you're IJN, and woe to GZ fail players as I hear those birds are even weaker than Shos... I personally think it is the Anti Fun Police but I still use AS decks sometimes
-
I still think Yam is very strong, granted its an Anti BB ship but that isn't an issue in the current meta. Don't own a Conq and it'll likely be nerfed by the time I get my hands on one but when compared to GK or Monty the Yam still has the edge. Armour is fine aslong you don't give broadsides and the sigma along with lol pen means you can always threaten other BBs. The guns do take a bit of getting used to. Used to think Monty was my fav T10 BB but then Missouri came along and it's basically the finest USN BB out there, I favour the Yam for now if I feel like top tier.
-
When was the last time Yam was nerfed? Must be well over a year if not two years ago...

I broke free of Monarch earlier and I'm now with the Lion. Final stats 64% WR with 81k average damage after 37 games. Partly fuelled by a 19 point captain. My advice would be, re-spec immediately. Take PM/Float plane thingy at level 1 either will do, EM, SI, CE and FP, then back down to AR and finally Vigil. CE and FP are key to surviving higher tier lols. Forget about speccing AA, stay with your team and if a CV wants to farm you then they will do regardless of AA points. You fight at medium range, that is between about 15km and the upper range of German BB secondaries. Do NOT get closer... Then always stay angled with FP you will tank a shed load of HE damage and when angled you will take lesser AP damage. Don't be afraid of going at half speed advancing or retreating from the enemy whilst firing constantly, if you do die it means the enemy has utterly pounded the $hit out of you and they will have spent a lot of time plus effort doing it. Finally look at the lineup at the start, if there are loads of well armoured ships e.g German BBs, T10s etc then don't even bother with AP and load HE from the start. If you see a number of soft shelled targets then by all means switch to AP. I don't subscribe to wasting a point on Expert Loader as the less you have to think about during a battle the easier it will be. Besides when you can do 10k+ to an angled Yam with HE what exactly is the point of bothering with AP? Good luck

I was going to sell her and melt the 18 point captain down somewhere but I think I'll keep her. Guns behave, it's just that you have 2 less than Bis/Tirp so the dispersion punishes poor aim.
