Should DD players at least get spread evenly between teams according to their DD stats?
GarrusBrutus replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
Did i shame them? I simply used their accounts to proof to another player that not everyone in this game plays solely to improve and/or win. How is that shaming? -

Okay then. How many more battles before these fine gentlemen start improving? Ten thousand? Hundred thousand? https://wows-numbers.com/ranking/?order=battles__desc Have you asked all of them? I find it quite amusing that you think everyone plays this game to win. Just go through some of the recruitment threads if you don't believe me. Lots of people out there who just want to play a few games to chill after work without caring about winning. Maybe open your mind to other possibilities and you'll be amazed. Maybe this comes as a surprise to you but wows is a very casual game mainly played by 40+ year old men. That is LITTERALY what skill based matchmaking does. You don't have to tell me how to carry mate. I know. Check my winrate. But if SBMM would be implemented I would get gluesniffers as teammates each and every game to "balance things out". No thank you. ???????? Don't you get +50% bonus when you win? So in 68% of my matches I got a 50% xp bonus. Now, with skill based matchmaking I won't be able to win 68% of my matches anymore, hence I'll earn the +50% less than 68% of the time. Which decreases my xp income, no matter how good I play. I don't know what is so hard to grasp about that given fact. You're wrong. It's not how YOU and I work. Doesn't necessarily mean everyone. Think these guys care about winrate? -

Are you new to this game then? Haven't you met hundreds if not thousands of players who are still as bad after thousands and thousands of games than they were when they just started? Still making the same stupid mistakes like smoking up when radared, sitting broadside inside their smokescreen, etc. Etc. I wouldn't call it a bald assumption. Besides, you assume players play this game to win and to get better. Are you sure that that is every players goal? A lot of them.... And I mean A L O T of them just play this game to chill and see pixel boats do boom boom. They don't give a **** about performance, balance, or winrate. Does it make sense? To us no, but who are we to judge them? So when I get better it becomes harder to win and when I get worse it becomes easier to win. If that isn't punishing than I don't know what else there is to discuss with you. That is a wrong anology. In wows you play in a team and you get rewarded as a team. Punishing good players with overall worse teammates makes them earn less xp than they do now. Which incentives players to not improve. If only that would be the case. I suggest you take a look in the 1000 pages long mm complain thread and youll see it is filled with players complaining that their team is 1% worse and they're not winning because of that blablabla. Then tell me how it motivates them to "try harder". Spoiler: it does not. -

only a very small % wants to improve. An even smaller % can actually improve. The rest just.... Doesn't care. It isn't. It's a simplified example. But one that highlights the core issue of SBMM: it punishes good players with worse teammates and/or better opponents. Which doesn't sound bad in terms of game balance, but it is bad in terms of motivation. See it as "the better you are at your job, the less work your coworkers will do because apparently you can do it all on your own." Does that motivate any sane person to try and improve? No. -

Why are double submarine divisions possible?
GarrusBrutus replied to Shirakami_Kon's topic in General Discussion
The fact you can't take three of them, and the fact that you can't take more than one cv in a division says enough about their state, doesn't it? -
You know why CVs are less of a problem in 5v5 ranked than for example randoms? There are only 4 surface ships who can punish you if you turn to dodge a carrier strike. Of these four most of the time only one or two are BBs. So the chances of getting severely punished for dodging cv ordnance is very small in contrast to randoms. And with this in mind, even a very good CV player has to commit extensive amount of time and planes in order to kill you.
-
Of all the problems in ranked, CVs are the very least of the problems.

You assume that people do not like subs because they're relatively new. But I think you're wrong there. People mostly don't like subs because the interaction isnt fun and they create "empty" matches with less ships to shoot at. -
Ranked is great for the winrate

Everyone has their own view of what makes a player a potato or not. But going for strictly PR, 1350 is green/very good and makes you stand out positively among the crowd. Although I'd keep the following phrase in mind: "In the land of the blind, the One Eyed is king." there will always be someone who thinks you're a potato. -

The potato (Solanum tuberosum) belongs to the solanaceae family of flowering plants. It originated and was first domesticated in the Andesmountains of South America. There are more than 4,000 varieties of native potatoes, mostly found in the Andes. They come in many sizes and shapes. Hope this helps. -

Judging from the average players' skill these days, I'd say a more complicated game is the last thing we need. -

imo the class of subs disrupts an already wonky game concept of rock/paper/scissor. Because it creates a whole new tier of "pro's vs con's". Was the same in WoWs at the start. Golden days of IJN DD gameplay. -

GarrusBrutus replied to BruderRaziel's topic in General Discussion
Yeah i agree mate. Doesnt help with the passivity in this game imo. Especially if youre a casual gamer (90% of the playerbase? :p) and do not know or recognise all forms of threat. More and more ways to punish any form of aggression get implemented. If you even dare to venture out of spawn in a CA/BB there is CVs/DDs/Subs waiting for you. So you logically stay in spawn and snipe. -

GarrusBrutus replied to BruderRaziel's topic in General Discussion
Yes and probably not. They simply misplayed by ignoring an obvious shima on their flank. Obvious you say? Yes, you're in a division with the ships they spotted on their flank and theyre perma spotted. So any player with a functioning brain could have anticipated it and not sit still/huddle up/whatever they were doing. Shima is one of the easiest ships to counter actually. You were just lucky to encounter a flock of potatoes. I've seen plenty of clips from subs devstriking people, in places on the map no DD could ever each due to detectability. Wouldnt say they misplayed however. So comparing both classes seems kinda silly to me as they differ light and day, especially in counterplay options. Atleast it fits in the development of the game over the years to offer more and more crutch gameplay options so even the worst players can occasionally feel like gods. -

Oink! Or how over 2 years of thinking, designing, prototyping and testing resulted into this gem of gameplay design for PVP
GarrusBrutus replied to Mad_Dog_Dante's topic in General Discussion
Same as with CVs. You don't really die because you misplay like not angling, you just happen to be the victim of choice. -

Even if they would implement such a mechanic, you would come back here complaining that you always have better divisions against you and that it is unfair yada yada yada.

Throw enough sh!t at the wall and eventually some will stick. Isn't it wonderful, this new form of ranked?
