iChase you felt a need to respond to Flamuu, as do I to you
GarrusBrutus replied to RevelAndQuaff's topic in General Discussion
This is so true. For players who have played wows since the start its easy: They got all the information there is today in small bits. A bit like a baby who got spoonfed and is now a grown person. But a player who starts today, in order to become a knowledgeable and experienced player has to either consume huge amounts of information, or accept that its going to take years and thousands of hours to get on that level... ...or just buy a high tier premium and yolo. -
So CVs can shut down other classes, in this case being DDs? Hmm interesting. I thought you just said they cant. Nah not at all...

Are aim bot mods legal or not? WG must be clear in this.

you can install aslains mods as well. And you're not losing battles because of other people using mods. That is just an easy scapegoat for your own inadequacies. Try these supposed "cheater" mods out for yourself and see how your performance changes. Spoiler alert: It doesnt. -

GarrusBrutus replied to RevelAndQuaff's topic in General Discussion
That is the difference between a good player and a bad player: Bad players will claim its predetermined. Good players will say "there is always a chance". Just go take a look in the matchmaking thread. All those players complaining are either bad or mediocre players. But this mindset is exactly why ive been avoiding randoms. So many players either dont know that a match isnt lost when you lose 1 ship or they dont know how fast a match can flip. They just complain in chat instead of focussing on atleast trying to win.- 141 replies

What if I told you that a gaming company has more options than buffs or nerfs to keep things appealing for its playerbase? Why not... *gasp* design something that more people like to play?

Ranked 1 in silver league less then 20 hours? Is it so easy?
GarrusBrutus replied to qdfl's topic in General Discussion
In general: The less skilled you are, the amount of games needed to rank out go up exponentially. The more skilled you are, the more stars you're bound to keep in a loss as well. That being said: when you play less games the "luck" factor counts more obviously. So even the best of the best might have a crippling loss streak.- 16 replies

I fear the worst. How much trust do you have in wargaming introducing a whole new class into the game without completely destroying the intra class balance that is already wonky to say the least? Especially after seeing the latest test versions. If cv gameplay was on average fun for 100 games, sub gameplay will be fun for about 10. And how much fun will the game be for ships who rely on guns for damage if you take two or three surface targets away and replace them with underwater shimakazes? even if they up the player count per battle, that's only going to make people sit longer in queue and put a strain on matchmaking... Subs? Doomed. Utterly doomed.

Indeed. Wargaming tells us what they do, but in the summit video they reveal away a very imporant reason: "If popularity doesnt meet certain standards, the resources put into the cv rework are wasted." That is the crux of the whole point flamu is making. Its not about making a qualitatively good game that the majority enjoys. Its about meeting corporate standards. Those metrics are utter bs. Again, they take some data and make some funky graphs with them. What data? We dont know. All we know as players is our combined experience with the game. And in my experience a toplevel cv player will dunk on a top level dd player every single time. Not to mention the other two classes. So wargaming can come up with all kinds of graphs showing me how i am wrong and how their balancing is 10/10, but i am not buying that. Sigh, yes. Nerf Shima's because their match influence is too great. /s For a start they could implement cv-only spotting so that getting spotted for 1 second by a random squadron doesnt get you deleted instantly. WG: "BuT tHaT fEeLs CoUnTeRiNtUiTiVe." You know what else feels counterintuitive Wargaming? Radar going through islands, ships going undetected behind a rock even though half of their ship is sticking out, etc etc etc. There are thousands of "counter intuitive" mechanics in this arcade game, yet we accept them for the sake of gameplay. Why not for the love of god atleast try a week or so on the live server with CV-only spotting? Oh I remember, because it would make other classes more popular as they get more fun to play again and in return deminish the cv population.

You missed the point. It's not about those numbers that indeed aren't relevant anymore. The bigger picture here is that with that summit video we got confirmation (after lots of people had raised suspicions about it) that these metrics aren't meant to measure if a class under or over performs. It all comes down to populairity %. All the updates with major or minor tweaks to game mechanics and/or specific ships, are done because of popularity %. It's the complete dissonance between what wargaming tells us and why they actually do it, that makes players disappointed, sad and angry. If that doesn't ruffle your feathers, I don't know. Don't let all that 'corporate speak' about data, metrics and KPIs fool you. They can balance the game to make it more fun. They simply refuse to do so out of greed. Which is a shame.

Ah yes, obviously because Wargaming no longer balances classes based on their spreadsheet. It feels awkward to watch because the topics discussed in the entire cc summit video are still very hot topics a few years later. So what changed? Better graphics i guess? Yikes.

How to Okhotnik in 10 Simple Steps
GarrusBrutus replied to arttuperkunas's topic in General Discussion
Hmm lets see which filthy sealclubber is 1# with the Oclubnik..... -
Then we might be complementary as I am not really a torpboat guy. ;) Maybe you're running the wrong build idk *JK ofcourse* Anyhow. Was thinking about this for a bit... Remind yourself about the average skill level in this game and how "well" that average player can aim. If this person has better results by focussing on torpedoes rather than guns, is a fully torpedo focused build on a gunboat a bad or a good build? Bad ofcourse in the eyes of better players, but not in his eyes.

Remember guys: Not everyone can make "Full damage farm-superunicum-top-of-the-leaderboard-playstyle+build" work. So the playstyle/build from the guys who top the leaderboard might not be the best suited for others. Atleast @Excavatus has been offered plenty of options and tips/tricks to try and improve his Smaland gameplay.

@Excavatus I asked that same question to @Captn_Crap (one of the best Smaland players). This was his answer: "Hey, Ill start with the captain build: PM, AR, LS, BFT, SE, CE. For the remaining 4 points either SI + 1 pointer or Radio Location (which I prefer). Skills like AFT or IFHE are not needed. (<- pre-captain rework obviously) I always try to go for the enemy DD first, even if that means ignoring the cap. Smaland is the best DD to hunt other DDs in the game, but its shells are quite slow. That means that you want to get as close as possible before getting spotted by the other DD, to increase the hit rate. You can also use islands to surprise other DDs and begin the gunfight at shorter than 6km ranges. One of Smalands best tools is its speed boost. Always keep it for gun fights and don't use it to get to places faster. The duration is only 1 min but the speed increase is much higher than for other DDs making it far more difficult to hit you. After killing the DD I like to open gun boat BBs, or even cruisers especially if you are still full HP and want to take some fire away from your teammates. Standard modules with reload and radar mod. Your reload can go down to 1,3 seconds which is the lowest in the game. Smaland is not easy to play but extremely strong when played well."

Calling someone else a no-lifer when you've played on average 15+ games, every day, for three years straight.... Interesting.

Ranked battles actually have pleasurable and chill XP in comparation with Random battles

THIS ISNT STATSHAMING ITS CALLED ANIMAL RESEARCH -
Safe stars have everything to do with the borked way of handing out rewards. A player who afk's hundreds of ranked battles each season (yes, we've all seen and reported them and they are still here) gets the same rewards as a super unicum player who carries each team he is on, because of those safe ranks. If there werent any safe ranks, playing bad wouldn't yield rewards as you would (almost) never rank out. Sadly right now it's a very legit strategy for poor players.

This is how I feel as a long-time veteran who is playing less and less (if any at all these days): Watching the devs, update after update, turn WoWs from this thing that i used to love into a thing that i dont have any feelings for at all. Flamu was right about a lot of stuff all along and now he finally has (more) freedom to share it with us.

If the internet had existed back then they'd have behaved the same online as people today do. It's simply inherently in bedded in the internet: when people can be ***** to each other and they can do so without consequences and from a point of complete anonimity, they will. Generalistic phrases like "people had manners back in those days.." make my eyes roll. That's what litteraly every old person says about older generations.
