  1. You do realise that these mechanics make the game balanced? Otherwise we might as well all play battleships. How else are cruisers supposed to deal with battleships?
  2. And that is bad why...? If I don't pay attention in a cruiser or in a destroyer I melt like an ice cream cone litteraly inside the sun: instantly. I don't understand this whole crusade against HE spam. It's not rocket science to learn how to position your bb accordingly (aka not get farmed to death right from the start) as well as dcp/heal management. And BBs average survival rate and dmg isn't that different from years ago, when we had stealth firing cruisers and DDs setting you ablaze with impunity. Fun fun fun!

    Republique

Why are you being so obnoxious? Your strategy of bowtanking in a Repub is simply bad because it doesnt have the armor to do so effectively. Instead Repub has speed and manoeuvrability to mitigate incoming fire with. I dont go bow tanking in my Des Moines against 457mm+ either because they overmatch me....

Then maybe spend some time learning about armor schemes and penetration values?

    Matched Battles

As much as I hate one sided games (and they become more frequent over time it seems) this isn't the solution. It's rigging the game so more people hover towards 50% wr. If you're an exceptional player your 11 teammates will be on average worse than your 12 opponents. Every game. And vice versa. So if I know that my performance does nothing but lower my teammates' average skill level, then why should I try to play to the best of my ability? Why not yolo in and die, so that in the future I will get better teammates. The solution to this problem is by banning obvious bot accounts and do a better job at teaching new and/or bad performing players how to play the game. There should be more, better and more detailed information how a players' performance influences the battle. It should be obvious what grants xp and what wins games. Sadly this is unclear for most players and my feeling is that it's intentional by design. A dumb and ignorant playerbase is an easy cashcow to milk. Furthermore WG should stop pushing high tier content down new players' throats, but unfortunately that ship has already sailed (no pun intended). New players should be introduced to the game at a nice slow pace instead of this "welcome to WoWs, here is your T9 BB, now go and boom boom".

    Importance of sample-size and WR

"Random" is the very definition of "same chance".... What you talk about are individual games. You know, the ones that determine your daily winrate. But lucky for you all those get negated over the course of thousands games.
  8. Players don't play this game to win. They play to Boomboomboom. So if there is nothing to Boomboomboom despite having all three caps, what do you do? Right, you push into the enemy spawn to BoomboomDie.

    How to excel in Petro?!

I think it comes down to patience and ability to read and predict the battle flow. I see a lot of petro players rushing towards their bowtank spot and just sit and die there. This is just a waste of potential and Petros who play stationary like this are actually quite easy to counter. What yields better results overall is to play more cautiously at the start (sure, you won't do a lot of damage the first few minutes) before going in to create a nasty crossfire. That is what the petro Excells at: if you see the enemy team pushing a flank, wait for them to commit before pushing into their flank. This way they'll be so far into their push that they can't turn around anymore. Or if the enemy is pushing your flank, you can kite them into a nasty crossfire using your teammates. A kiting petro takes ages to get rid off. It's the hardest to know when the "go-time" starts. But to recognize this you have to play a bit safe at the start, until you know how the enemies deploy and how the battle probably will develop.

    From ranked to random....

You're probably the kind of student who doesn't enroll and halfway through the year asks why he can't sign up for any classes. Jezus christ.

    Importance of sample-size and WR

All those factors get negated over a big enough number of matches. Everyone suffers or gains from those factors the same amount. Sure, if you play 100 games luck might be a factor. As is shown in ranked seasons. But over thousands of battles rng, luck, teammates, the weather and the stars lining up have close to zero effect on your wr. Would you argue that players such as Rngsama and TheSailingRobin have been lucky or had better teams than us? Once you accept that you are in control of your own winrate, you can start to really improve.

When do you know that you've "peaked" your skills?

Peak performance comes when you have a total understanding of the game and its mechanics, as well as enough experience to know what to do in each and every situation in order to get the best possible outcome. Talent determines how high your skillceiling is and learning ability combined with determination and perseverance determines how fast you reach this ceiling. Only a few players will ever reach top performance. Some have a lot of talent but lack the mindset, others have the mindset but lack the talent. So when you feel you have stopped learning in this game, you've probably peaked. Could be at 35% WR but also at 65% wr.

After 1000 solo games you can accurately tell how good a player is. People may have bad luck, back teams, play bad ships, etc. But after 1000 games those factors are of little influence. Ofcourse a player who plays 1000 Erie games, or a player who plays 1000 Enterprise games are very specialized in one ship and might not be very good at any other ship. But a player who plays all classes and different ships and still has 60% solo winrate after a 1000 games, is considered a very good player.

Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance

...and if a player already understands the game and its mechanics he doesn need MMM to tell him who is a potato and who isnt, since he will recognise it within the opening stages of the game anyway.

    Worst tech tree cruisers t8,9,10

Really? Albemarle shits on every other T8 cruiser 1v1 though. As well as T8 BBs. You can bounce their AP and outtrade them with HE.
  24. GarrusBrutus

    WHY?

    Because you're better at DDs......
