Match starts. You have your team, the caps and atleast about 5 minute of open water to be crossed by the dd beteen you and a tier 8 dd with what... 15m HP? Furthermore you can actually move your carrier away from the enemies. Should give you plenty of time to atleast figure out where those DDs are and if you have atleast a little bit of skill severely damage, or better, kill them. Now the fact that you got spotted and you had no clue where the dd was tells me you did a major oopsie. Git gud.

I think most of the 5k+ games players who are on the forum have spent significant cash on wows in the form of premium time, ships, and what not. Fact is that it is a free to play game. You can get to tier ten and have all the silver ships if you want to without spending as much as a dime on this game. Question is are you prepared to spent that much time on grinding. Because it is just a grind. Sure, For an exceptionally skilled players it is a lesser grind than for a potato. But in the end the game is quite generous when it comes to the free to play content your allowed to enjoy. And (note. This is my personal opinion.) if your willing to play thousands of games in a game without spending money on it but then proceed complaining that it isn't generous enough then you sir are one big [edited]cheapskate. You're like the one who goes into a bookstore everyday enjoying reading all the books but never ever pay for one. Sorry but I have no sympathy for that. In the end it's a product your using on the expense of all those that do pay. Enjoy what you get for nothing or pay.

I'm fine with the idea behind giving players the possibility to tip their tows into ranked games with rental ships. It is a great way of introducing new players to the game mode and by doing so increasing the numbers of players actually playing the gamemode. But the largest problem is obviously that these players have zero experience playing these tier ten ships. It's like giving kids in Go-Karts a formula 1 car and expecting them to compete with Louis Hamilton. And by having a rental ship and thus no camo etc it places them at an even further disadvantage creating a massive gap. That is not fun for their teammates nor the player themselves. Now how can we improve this system? I'd suggest creating a beta league where those players can play some sort of mini season in the format of something like ranked sprint. And only if they reach rank 1 there they gain access to "normal ranked". By completing this mini ranked season they show that they are committed and have atleast some form of skill to play tier 10. "But Garrus, there are a lot of really bad players losing their way up to tier ten and playing ranked, shouldn't they be the ones doing the mini ranked season first?". Well, my competitive heart says yes but my ratio says no, since they "earned" their ticket by grinding (or paying, mehhh) to tier ten. I recognize this proposal is kinda simplistic and has a lot of loopholes in it but the basis of it is that we reduce the amount of matches that are decided by who gets the least amount of rentals on his team. Players who already own one or more tier 10 ships but who just want to try out some ships they do not own can obviously not compete in this mini ranked season as it would encourage sealclubbing. Furthermore, if wargaming decides to continue the availability of rental ships to nontierX-owners, for the love of Neptune give those players atleast fully decked out ships with 19point commanders with already a decent build. I know that even a lot of veteran tier 10 players do not even have a fully decked out ships, a 19 point commander and/or a decent build. But going back to the go-kart vs formula 1 car comparison: let's not put those kids at an even bigger disadvantage by giving them the lesser toys to play with. Just my two cents.

That doesnt help at all. Only if the rental ships get their own league system. I think there is enough people trying out ranked for the first time to get them a seperate ranked queue.

Being successful is not the same thing as having fun. Doing the same amount of damage or even more damage is not the same as having a fun game experience. Although having fun is obviously subjective. But I'm happy that you enjoy it. :)

No, that is not what i said. I replied to your comment regarding angling versus the stalingrad AP shells and you apparently not knowing how to not get citadelled by them. A question you did not answer by the way. Maybe you forgot? That Desmoines absolutely annihilates the stalingrad.

Damn right. This gamemode is another one of those "Ill check it out and get bored after two or three games" kinda gimmicky modes.
