French Destroyers Event: the Full Guide

But we both know there is a small percentage of players that just buy stuff, the same people that have hundreds to maybe thousands of euros invested in this game. Guess these players hope to achieve something with buying the content but i imagine a month later they cant even remember what they bought and its on to the next 'sale'. Theres nothing wrong with continued purchases for a game which has been up and running for the last few years. But there is something very wrong with setting up your sales policy to abuse human weaknesses, even if it only involves a small percentage of people.
  2. This. The game belongs to Wargaming so they are free to do as they please. But i see some people spreading unfunded assumptions that Steam would be able to offer better deals, they are just a different distribution channel for WG in order to expand the player base. Its not a respectable way of doing business but it wouldn't be the first time WG pulled a promotion like this one, sadly a lot of companies (gaming/non-gaming) these days roll with the revenue over satisfaction mentality. And as long as this strategy works why would they change anything? If Wargaming makes enough money of the 5% playerbase (Whales) then dont expect any original offers or super sales. Its obvious that the main focus of WG is the Whale category and as long as these people are sufficient for the revenue we have a freeish game which is regulary updated and keeps receiving new content, but also a game which is full of mechanics, overpriced promotions and currencies that try to lure you into the spending-cycle.

5 Fun Divisions to try in Ranked Sprint

Oh c'mon WG, this could've been a fun post where people would exchange their favourite division builds from trollings to trie-hard but the main goal is obviously to promote more premium ships. So with that being said here are the premium ships me and a friend used last sprint: Nelson + Atlanta, and yes I am a hypocrite for commenting about promoting premiums and then to promote premiums myself Nonsense aside a suprising strong and flexible team up: Both have excellent HE performance for taking out the tanky targets; Atlanta spamm with a well placed Nelson AP salvo will melt any cruisers; and generally DD's don't even want to get close to an Atlanta but even if they do a timed radar combined with a Nelson HE salvo can outright delete the DD. A division which relies on staying close and covering eachothers weaknesses. Some experience with positioning would help though, had fun would do again. On a whole other note we used to run a DD nightmare build on tier 10: - Z52, Khabarovsk, Minotaur(Radar). If executed right this is just outright OP. Too bad the build isnt that effective anymore because of the new CV meta, but can still be a lot of fun. Talking about the CV meta why not: -Gearing or Grozovoi, Minotaur(Smoke), Worchester. I dont expect a CV to even fly close to this division but if you get in to the end-game its hilarious when the enemy CV has no target left but these 3 and your teams CV.

Right... Tier X carriers in Ranked. I hereby invite the Wargaming crew to try this ranked season for themselves and lets see if they can consistenly rank up witouth using a cv. Bonus points if they can play 3 games in a DD without ragequitting. But seriously though pls stop forcing us to endure these carriers all the time. I dont mind you guys tweaking cv gameplay until it works but why keep using the general server and the most played mode 'random battles' as your current test pool. Can't we just keep the whole cv rework behind the scenes, then check results in a WG testgroup before going closed alpha, then go testserver, eventually testing trough events or a separate mode on the general server before going live with the whole rework. Obviously the rework/rebalance is not done yet because tweaking is still needed and the majority of the community is not happy with the current cv balance.

    Update 0.8.2.0.1

From a gameplay perspective carriers have never been balanced in this game. The immense spotting advantage and alpha strike potential has been reduced with the first carrier rework but it has never even come close to a fun and engaging experience for all ships. Besides carriers these days can do multiple strikes in a short time which comes with its own challenges for the would be victims. So the players are now stuck in a situation where if they play random battles there is a high chance of being matched against a single or multiple enemies which they cannot counterplay. And that is a huge source of the frustration people are experiencing, you cannot counterplay or avoid a carrier effectively like you could any other type of ship. You can try to sail in groups and play very passive but this will only work to a small margin and in turn it hurts the game experience for many because it all becomes so boring. And i do believe that Wargaming is trying their best to make carriers work in this game, they reacted properly to most feedback and released many tweaks regarding carrier striking power. But after all these tweaks low tier carriers are now in a state where they do small damage but also receive very little damage from anti air, which kinda dumbs down the play style overall. But the higher tier carriers especially tier X are still very much overpowered, the amount of damage they can do especially to specific ships like destroyers or some cruisers in a single drop is just sickening. Even if you build for anti-air only a few ships in the game have the capacity to deter a carrier drop, but then its only slightly effective for a short time as you lose AA guns with every engagement and if your boat relies on defensive fire you will run out of consumables. But the carrier has acces to unlimited planes so even if you do a proper AA play (setting up an air ambush by using terrain to protect teammates who cant defend themselves) you still feel like it doesnt matter because the carrier will keep on coming, squad after squad. This all can sound quite negative but i do respect Wargaming for making a lot of moves to improve the CV situation and they highly improved immersion for carrier players now able to see the map from a completely new perspective (and with the new anti air effects i would even say immersion for other ships also increased). I also like the reinforcing AA mechanic per side because this gives players more of a feeling they can do something to minimize cv drop damage although its more dependant on ship type and possible AA build. But again i think that the biggest source of frustation is that people can get matched in a game against a ship that is basically a big bully who can do whatever he wants and no matter what you try there is no efficient counter, you are just there to endure whatever the carriers trows at you. And if he wants you dead you die, its only a matter of time. So this is my opinion on the whole CV situation, maybe im just a bit biased because i do play all ships but generally i enjoy destroyers the most. I have come to a point where i dont like playing high tier destroyers anymore and i celebrate each new gamemode that doesnt include carriers. But am i overreacting or do others agree with what i wrote here? And please dont bring a realism argument, i am talking about a game and its gameplay experience here.

Developer Bulletin 0.7.11 - Discussion Thread

A lot of intresting changes WG, keep up the good work! Its always a good thing to keep reviewing your own game for balance fixes and always trying to improve the gameplay. Im especially intrested in the Large AP vs DD change, because it can be extremely frustrating to just get nuked (to death or uselesness) because of rng and weird angled hits. I honestly think the adjustment will not change the general Meta but instead it will bring a little bit more stability to enduring dmg in DD's, which is highly appreciated since you dont have the hp to tank anything. So even though theres some negative and rather simple/stupid reactions ''DD can now just yolo anything'' on this change, I believe it is for the better and it will help in the process of making high tier DD play fun again.
