That depends. It's still unclear how this works. Two Minotaurs 1v1 against each other, one smokes up, the other is 5.1km away. Both shoot. Who's spotting whom? We know for sure, that the smoked Minotaur will be spotted, but what aobut the other one? Technically this smoke debuff thingy should be renamed (and recoded) a firing dependent proxy spotting debuff (independent if you're in smoke or not). Greetings
-
Belfast might have a word with you ;) Greetings
-
Well that's debatable isn't it? If all 152mm guns get the same 'debuff' then it's only attached to the concealment of the ships. Sure this is a ship dependent value, but since the formula behind it, is the same for all ships, one could argue that this is a global change. Just because the outcome is different for each individual ship, doesn't mean it's arbitrary. Greetings

Interessante Infos aus aller Welt - Infothread (keine Diskussion)
Allied_Winter replied to LilJumpa's topic in Allgemeine Diskussionen
Greetings -
Omaha! Never worked for me. Not in the good old AFT days, not before the MM change and not now. Shame though because I won the Marblehead and have a thing for 'unloved' ships. Molotov (kinda): Sure she has power and I have a feeling for glass cannons, but somehow I couldn't pull off the OP results my divmates did. Strange. All newer ships which I recently unlocked I wouldn't count in. I do like Iowa and Tashkent, but the wins take some time.... but that's allways the same for me. With every new ship I get either shitty WR but good DMG, or the other way round for the first 20 or so games. Only after 30+ a trend gets visible. Greetings

First: Thanks for listening to the community with regards to the initial proposal. Also 'Thank you' for bringing it forward and at least trying to work out some kind of talk culture between the devs and the community. Much appreciated and I hope this'll set a trend for future development. Second: The idea is good. Sure it needs some tweaks in regards to numbers, but I like the concept. At first I was a bit hesitant, but Sub_'s explanation made it clearer and I thought it through for my (current) three smoke cruisers: Kutuzov: 152mm and she'll land somewhere around 5 to 7 km. That's ok (for me). I usually don't smoke up to a target that's closer than 12km to have a chance to escape undetected once the smoke fades (and with MK's range, hitting targets at 15+km was never a problem) Fiji/Belfast: Probably the same numbers since 152mm guns. Kinda ok(-ish). Sure lower is better, but it could work and would take the edge off of the payfast without it being a heavy/direct nerf For DDs it should work fine, but there are still a few questions left to test (can't wait for it to be on the PTS): Will this work both ways? Someone mentioned a Minotaur 1v1 against another Minotaur. If one Minotaur smokes up and no hydro or other spotting mechanics are in place: Who spots whom? Yamato in smoke has a huge detection bloom, but what about being behind a smoke? Will it be like in tanks, where you're spotted if you stand in one bush, but can stay unspotted if you 'double-bush'? Greetings

Histogramm der Siegraten in Wows

Also nice to know wäre das schon, und ich wüsste auch wen man frage könnte, aber ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, dass ich die Antwort ("Geben wir nicht raus") auch schon kenne. Was globale stats angeht ist Lesta relativ vorsichtig diese herauszugeben. Was ja irgendwo auch berechtigt is. Greetings -
Cruiser main here. Let's try to sum up my thoughts on this topic (for I can use this answer on future topics of similar kind). Are fires OP? Short answer: NO! (= tl:dr) Long answer: No, it's just that there is much more to take into account than just the pure raw fire damage that a ship takes. Yes, I can put my hand on my heart and say, that I'm good enough to actively hunt the 'Witherer' achievement in my Kutuzov (note: only one of two cruisers in the above mentioned DMG charts of the last 2 weeks, and a premium ship too). But (and that's a HUGE HUGE B U T) this requires to have some RNG in my favor: First MM needs to be on point (lots of enemy BBs, few DDs, few radar cruisers), second the enemy BBs need to push into me without shooting me in smoke (if they're running away I can't sit in smoke and spam), third my team needs to spot for me (all smoke is useless if no one spots targets). Even then, all the DMG done by me can be useless if my team doesn't manage to cap/kill the enemies. If two GK's push into my Kutuzov smoke sure it's 210k DMG I could (theoretically) do, but even if I manage to set both on fire with three fires it would take quite some time for them to burn down (and without IFHE I can't do much more than fire DMG). If all these conditions meet, Fires can be labeled as OP. If not, all I did was annoy two BBs, did quite some DMG but didn't help my team. So where exatly is my personal benefit from that playstyle. But: Correlation doesn't imply causality (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Correlation_does_not_imply_causation). Just because I burned down two T10 BBs in my MK (or two Nagatos in my Budyonny) doesn't mean that this was all due to fire being OP. It was mostly (and that's where all this backlash comes to you, OP) the BB drivers fault, or at least the enemy team's (!) fault. First: Most BB drivers I have on the enemy team, instantely repair the first fire. Any following fire I as a cruiser set burns for the full duration. This mismanagement of the DC can't be the cruisers fault. Culprit: BB driver Second: Some BB drivers know how to manage their DC, but don't know about stealth, they happily fire away at targets outside their detectability range, giving me in the cruiser (MK in smoke, Cleveland behind islands, Schchors speed tanking) a chance to fire at them. Countless examples of a BB chasing me, that would've lived if they'd just broken off the pursuit of me or other ships on my team... But again, this can't be the cruisers faul. Culprit: BB driver Thrid: If the BB driver knows his DC and his stealth, he might want to disengage at some point. If - despite all that - he's kept spotted, that's mostly due to my DDs spotting him and/or his teams inability to get rid of the DDs or set a smoke screen for the BB in question. So it comes either down to little team play on the enemy team (mostly goes hand in hand with good teamplay on my team) or the MM not putting any DD hunter on the enemy team (hunting a Fubuki with only Kievs and no radar on the other team can be quite challenging). Culprit: No teamwork or MM hickup. Fourth: Fire DMG per se. Only very few encounters I have (in a cruiser vs. BB fight) end by getting an 'Arsonist' for burning down an enemy target (40% fire DMG + getting the kill). Most of those cases end in the enemy BBs death only because he tried to kill me (and sometimes succeeds) but gives FULL BROADSIDE to my team in the process, and thus eating tons of BB AP DMG! So even if the fires give me quite the DMG the BB dies to my team (thus: TEAMWORK OP) because he tried to be 'greddy' (or reasonable) and go for the easy kill target: Me in the cruiser. Fifth: Reducing fighting capabilities. That's already modelled in the game. If you're getting HE spammed, chances are pretty high, that by the end of the battle your AA mounts are gone (leaving you vulnerable to air attacks) and/or your secondray mounts gone (leaving you vulnerable to torp runs). Anything above that. On lower tiers cruisers can some BBs rudder, but I've yet to meet that condition on high tiers (Zao demolishing the rudder of a Yamato). Sixth: Skill. I might agree on the part where the skill required to HE spam a bow on sitting BB is lower than switching from HE to AP (or the other way round) in a cruiser v cruiser brawl. On the other hand - and that might be a bit provocative - where's the skill in sitting bow on in a BB and pressing the left mouse button every 30s? Yeah I know there's more to that, but so is on the cruiser side. If a Dunkerque/NC (and soon Nelson) sits bow on, what else should I do as a cruiser to DMG this particular BB. Besides firing HE, that is? The game gives me little option to do so. Sure I could (if I have the AP penetrating power) to go for a flanking maneuver. But this means that in the mean time the BB in question could leave his position (making my flanking menuever useless) and/or expose me to other threats. Imagine yourself in a squishy cruiser: Would you leave the comfort of sitting unspotted behind an island, firing HE at a spotted target, if there's no need to leave (e.g. a DD charging in or a different situation on the map arises)? If no, why should I? This all reads like a 'not in my backyard' problem: 'Sure cruisers can keep their firepower, but only if I'm not the target'. You mentioned, that "if you are heavily outnumbered" ... something about HE removing all skill (we already had that). But guess what, if you're heavily outnumbered (no matter the reasons - overextended, team dying too fast) you should die! If a BB could shrug of four cruisers HE spamming the living crap out of a BB, what reason would be there to play cruisers? Anecdotal evidence, that fire's are not the problem: I once saw a Warspite (???? iirc, I know it was a T6 BB) hold up against four cruisers (Pensacola, Nürnberg and two others). So it started as a 4v1 situation. It ended in a 2v1 with the BB dying. The Pensacola would've been the only ship, that could've used AP (if positioned correclty, see point 6). All the others used HE since it was the only way to do reliable (!) DMG to a dodging, weaving target that knew how to handle it's DC. Keyword here is "RELIABLE". Sure an AP salvo placed on a somewhat angled, somewhat broadside BB would've done more DMG, but who trades possible high DMG for reliable low DMG? Exactly, nobody! In the end it comes down to be a psychological factor. Getting shot at (even if the shells do little or no damage) and getting set on fire (even if DC and repair party can recover from that) is annoying and frustrating. Much like a waxing strip that gets pulled off slowly. You know it doesn't kill you, but the anticipation of the incoming pain exceeds the actual pain (just think about those people that are afraid of the needle at the doctors for getting a vaccine shot. Disclaimer: I'm not voting for any HE or fire buffs, neither do I call for any nerfs. Fire atm is in an ok spot. Some cruisers out there might need a buff, but that's not the HE department. Also I would've never had the idea to add IFHE to the game, but I'm not a game dev (as said earlier: Yes an IFHE spamming Kutuzov can be a monster, but that requires some factors to act in favor of the Kutuzov). If you got any questions OP, let me know. Greetings

At T4 the ship is way less important than the player steering the ship. On average you'll have far more map awareness and a better target selection than most players. Thus, these stats (after 145 battles in her): Can be achieved rather easily. And makes the Sushi a sealclubber that's somewhat equal to the Imperator. Not in terms of raw gun power, but due to her agility and toughness. I like playing her, but try to limit myself to +100% XP weekends (to farm commander XP)... Greetings
-
Not really. Casual play is 3 battles a night and maybe double that on the weekend. 30 battles during the weekend (or 15 per saturday/sunday) equals to 7,5 hours (if one battle lasts 15 minutes). But as said on the previous page. Casual is a rather subjective term (since everybody has a different definition for it). Am I done with the first stage of the campaing? Almost only missing a few XP. Does it bother me to wait two weeks before the next set is opened? No, got other stuff to do in the mean time. Greetings

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

Yeah I know, NDA and stuff. But it's there for a reason soooo... it was just crazy to see the heal in action. Gave the compliment right back :) At least if friendly forumites are in the battle a loss doesn't weigh as heavy... Greetings -

Same for me, met @Dropsiq in the super healing Conquerer (and I still don't know how my last volley on you wasn't a citadel...) Also met @Xevious_Red in his Des Moines. Wasn't exactly my best Amagi battle. Greetings -

Allied_Winter replied to KommodoreBonte's topic in Allgemeine Diskussionen
Greetings -
Like ... overall? Or tier by tier? Or are you looking for yourself, what line you want to go through? Greetings

Have you bought Belfast, Kutuzov? if so prepare to be shocked...
Allied_Winter replied to SexyCroat's topic in General Discussion
On reddit some top clans said, that they were allowed to take part on a seperate private ST session to check the new mechanics for competitive. Now the google docs link to OMNI's feedback was only up for a short time (before OMNI themselves redacted it!) but in conclusion: For top competitive clans this will change very little. However less competitive clans and for randoms this'll lead to a diminishing enjoyment of the game. OMNI even presents an alternative solution: Leave smoke as it is, but every ship firing from smoke gets a 20s firing debuff (e.g. DD from smoke will be visible up to 5km or such). Main problem for OMNI is not the smoke itself, but the general power level of BBs as a class itself. Greetings -
Kutuzov, the only ship (so far) that I can reliably farm Witherers (almost predicting it when I see the matchup). But defo needs more balans comrade. How about better armour and longer smoke da? Greetings

Once can only think about a childish developer stomping it's foot on the floor: 'BUT I WANT A DD WITH 50MM PLATING! And no matter what, I'll make it work, if it's the last thing I do.' Greetings -

Greetings
