Hm, yep. Same here, although i do not check other players stats unless he starts a stat war in chat. If this were the case, that there is some form of noob protection even at high(er) tiers, i'd spend the next months throwing games until my stats hit the ground and enjoy enjoy sailing broadside on to everyone. ^^ It's most likely RNG, which explains why i didn't hit anything with my Gas Can despite them being point blank ( had to do that get one million ribbons in a french BB thingy) and the next day getting citadels left right and center at any angle and distance.

Grinding - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Jethro_Grey replied to dayofmone's topic in General Discussion
Well, before i started doing the french campaign, i felt the same that OP is stating: why oh why does WG have to make the tasks so grindy? Why is it, that every camapign is either a grind fest or has ridiculous requirements? What was WG smoking when they designed these tasks? Where they thinking at all? However, once i took a closer look at the requirments, i started to form a plan. Since i have both, the Aigle and the Gas Can, i can do all of these tasks ( i wanted to complete thenm with honors) and if i choose wisely, i can do them rather quickly. The first set was rather easy, the grindy part were the ribbons - the Aigle ribbon grind was the one that cost me some nerve. Luckily, the Gas Can has decent secondaries and with a secondary build, i did manage to get that one done faily quickly. Making some of the missions completeable in COOP was a smart move, which allowed me to complete the second stage tasks for Gas Can and another task in ~7-8 games. The third part was rather easy, again the Aigle one was a bit of a pain as i can't make that DD work (47k average damage, 55%WR ), but with the help of the Type 59 camos i bought last year for doubloons, it took me three games in the Gas Can, 4 in the Aigle and the rest was done rather quickly indeed. I rushed through all tasks in 1 1/2 days over the weekend, so i'm happy that i'm done with that. Reason to be happy? No. Despite the fact that i made it in less then two days, it was still a grind fest. And not a fun one at that. The time restriction of 4 weeks forced me to play them all in one go (due to RL restrictions, and i would assume, i'm not the only one) without the possibility to do them in COOP i'd probably would have not only ruined my own games, but for other players as well (secondary build Gas Can? Fun, but not very effective and you don't last very long due to focus fire, and for what? 1k ribbons in a BB...?) without the Type 59 camos - which cost me 125 doubloons per pop - it'd take me significantly longer (granted, i have each and every camo there is and that in large quantities, which makes me one of the lucky ones and i can waste a few on crappy games, but does this applay to all players?) The requirements forced me to play recklessly and like most other events/ missions/ whatever, not team play oriented There are a few general points that made me disklike this campaign, or the entire event. It has become tradition by now that one task in a campaign mission chain requires you to have a specific ship to complete them all if you want to finish the campaign with honors. You want to grind the missions to get the Aigle for free? Here you go, and here is a campaign which takles place at the same time and requires you to have the Aigle... It wasn't enough to repeat it for one ship, WG did it this time for two ships and while the requirement does not require you to have bought the Gas Can, it required you to have a TIII BB of a line that was released one day before the campaign started. Of course yxou didn't need to buy the Gascogne, you could buy containers where you could get missions to get a free TVIII BB for free (*if you were lucky...or bought enough boxes...). Yes, i know we have 4 weeks time to finish the campaign, which would have allowed even a free to play player to grind the line all the way up to TVIII (...lel) and complete the campaign...which sounds like a frakkin' grind ferst to me. And judging by the amount of french BBs in the queue - and by that i mean the tiers VIII - X, i'm pretty sure nobody ever bought any boxes to speed up the grind. I have no issues with WG monetizing the game, but it feels like they are putting more effort in finding new creative ways of monetisation than actually fixing the things that need some attnetion. I also hate how WG was throwing around high tier silver ships at everyone that would spend enough coin, and allow even more potatos in the high tiers. Not to mention that selling silver ships - technically it was selling the chance to get a mission for a silver ship, but in the end you payed for a silver ship - is questionable at best. And all these things don't make me look forward with joy and anticipation to the next campaign WG is going to do. Cause by now, the question i'm asking myself is not will it be fun to play? The questions i'm asking myself is, how much of a grind fest will it be compared to the previous ones? Will the tasks be grindy or just stupid (Clear Sky for instance - in the Yamamoto campaign)? I'm happy that i'm finished the short but a bit grindy camapign and can go back to business as usual...which means going back to rather grindy and/ or stupid tasks of the permanent campaigns i haven't completed yet (with honors). YAY! the Tl;dr: grindy campaign with nice-ish rewards done in the typical WG style, with no regards to how it'll affect gameplay and a new way of monetisation that is on the questionable side of things. The grind can be shortened if you spend money on ships, boxes and very expensive camos (and use your team mates as sacrificial lambs). I'd like to see a camapign with fun missions, maybe even ones that require team play and are not grindy and without time limit or the need to spend money or force me to play a class that i don't like or can't do well in it. Maybe design the missions in a way that players of each class can get them done...maybe some day...after the CV rework. /rant over -
Event reward captains - where are their special attributes displayed?
Jethro_Grey replied to cracktrackflak's topic in General Discussion
It's not like these special captains have a yellow band that distinguishes them from the average joe captain... If memeory fails, write the name on a post-it and nail on the wall the behind your screen... ^^ -
Collecting defeats day after day isn't motivating anymore to keep playing this game !

Where is your damage counter? Also, to see what went wrong and you don't seem to comprehend what people wrote, please consult this page: http://www.wowstats.org/stats/eu/herbstnebel1975/ -

Paying will not make you any good or make you win more. You bought yourself a Scharnhorst and a Kaga and you have bad stats in both of them, while one game in the Scharnhorst is not representative even tho you only did 23k damage, the games in your Kaga are. You've won only 4 out of 12 games, which means you are not a good player and buying anything in this game does not make you win more. And this applies to everyone. Your own stats invalidate your arguments. I suggest you accept that you need to learn more and stop posting nonsense about p2w and rigged MM theories. -
Well, read this thread again, the explanation is right there, it's called damage saturation.

True, divisions of good players can have a positive influence on the game, yet they do not win every game. If MM were rigged, it would affect all players which is not the case. Take a break and play something else or go for a walk. Your state of mind affects how you play and your perception of how you and others play. -

+1, made me laugh. Nothing has changed, except maybe you and or your perception. -
How?

As a CV it's imperative to not only do damage, but to keep your team mates alive, spot for them, keep DDs lit up. You do not win on your own, you win by being a team player, so pls read the below post very very carefully. Besides, you are a fairly new player and - i say this without mocking or malicious intent - not a good player going by your stats. You'll improve over time, but you should consult the wiki and some of the youtubers like Flamuu, Farazaleth ( top 5 CV player WW), Femenenly which is also a CV main and both have tutorial vids on YT. That being said, sometimes you just can't win regardless of how good you are as you'll end up with players who will find a way to throw a victory away. Also, losing streaks are part of the game, even the best players have them. -
Well, it'd be nice if visible on the ships themselfs - which would require a crapton of changes to the models and textures themselfs, not to mention the code - but not in the UI, team line up and results screen. That would be bad, really really bad, as i wouldn't want to know what fetish is floating the boat of others or what political views people have when they don't have to play nice. I have to admit tho, that it would - for a short while at least - be hilarious to see ship names like the ones mentioned above. But only for a very short while, as it will get old pretty quickly getting reported because the game just has to announce that 'you have been destroyed by Jethro_Grey ['s Big D***]' or even worse things. Let's not go there - ever. ^^

It's all about the meme, but that's quite sufficent (for me). I wouldn't mind tho, if he came with some special skills to maximise the meme factor, i.e. ultra long duration for the spotter plane, additional smoke charges or 4 planes at the same time up instead 2. Or something along the line.

With the introduction of Commander Kappa, i'd suggest to stop anything WG is working on and give us his face as patch/ emblem ASAP. I was considering making one as entry for the contest, however this may be a violation of copyright or whatever. WG shouldn't waste time on balance, ships and the CV rework and implement it right away. Also, as addition, this: Needless to say that both these suggestions have to be handled fast and with the utmost care. Whatever the DEVs are doing has to stop and these suggestions have to be implemented, the entire matter has to be treated as number one priority. I have to urge @MrConway, @Kandly, @Tuccy, @Sub_Octavian to forward this to the DEVs at once, so they can start to work on it immediately and can prepare an emergency patch for the next week.

This. So much this.

Well, you can use them on the Des Moines...for maximum team Play...

I had two in twoe weeks and got signals and camos. If you want to make sure that you get the Gremmy, buy all other premium ships first. this way you can increase your chance that'll drop when all other ships are present. ^^ Very useful on Perth.

Hm, i perform better in the PA DDs than in the US ones, at least in the tiers 7-10. The DW torps basically guarantee torps hits which results in a higher average damage, at least for me. I don't have issues engaging other DDs either despite the fact that my torps can't hurt them. Their lower concealment and incredibly strong smokes make them really fun to play, i am however not convinced that DW torps are a good idea and healthy for the game.

Don't worry guys, the year of the CV is coming...once they know how to fix this mess, they'll announce which year it'll be.

What we need more than anything else in WoWS, in fact, it should be WGs number one priority is a patch and emblem with the Kappa face. How awesome would it be to delete a BB in your DD, or DD with a BB, or spam a BB with Des Memes HE to death and this face is what the players see's...pls WG, with a cherry on top, gib Kappa patch!

...that the currently available Republique camos in the shop (for 30€) are available in-game for Doubloons as well? I've read somewhere that they are available for the rip-off prize of 5k Doubloons and as i don't have access to the game atm i want confirmation before i shell out hard-earned cash for something i could buy with Doubloons. Thx in advance!

Link the accounts again, and repeat the steps.
-
After linking the account, you have to make sure that the accounts are linked, check your account details for that. Make sure you're logged in to twitch and check the loot options, claim the WoWS loot and wait a few seconds. Exit the game, and log in via the twitch option, i had to do this last step three times.

Personally, i don't get that CV sniping at the beginning of the battle in high tiers where CVs are limited to one per side ( thank the lord). Unless you're a super unicum CV player and your opposite is a potato you'll end up wasting strike potential and spotting as some players just have to send their fighters to protect their strike package. Sure, it would be great to remove the enemy CV right at the start from the game. But how often does it work and is it worth it to remove yourself for minutes from the game? If you can combine the spotting for your team and find a way to strike him without sacrificing your planes sure, why not, but it ain't something i'd attempt...unless i have an opening and can do it without sacrificing my planes and any spotting advantage or even air control in an area. Just played a game in my Saipan to get those plane kills for the missions, something i don't do often as i'm not that good in CVs. The enemy CV tried to strike me twice, and all he got out of both strikes was like 8k damage, but he lost all his planes and the chance the strike one of our BBs who was sailing all alone. He also kept sending his fighters against my two squads for some reason. He did not spot for his team while i always kept his teams DDs on one side spotted and provided LoS for the DD that kept burning down several ships and DDs. He also didn't payed the slightest bit of attention to the minimap as our Benson payed him a visit and he got up close and personal. ^^

It promotes bad gameplay and punishes good play as BBs who support and push will get punished first. The campers will camp even harder and those who have been wrecked two or three times by an Asashio will think twice whether they push and support again or do the <smart> thing and tell teamplay to frak off. We have enough campers as it is and for the most part there is no reason to camp, lets not give them one.
