I am assuming that WoWs is in the view of WG in its maturity phase. In consulting terms that means milk it for cash. Farming we would call it here. So they will not optimise player enjoyment, because they do not expect to attract many profitable customers any more. It also means they will not listen to any player feedback if they do not believe it will improve cash flow. Their poor communication to the player base is an indication for that imo. The only thing we can do is make our own choices in playing and spending in this environment. I spend not a penny on WoWs and will not get upset, I play my own game and enjoy it. Albeit a bit less than before. Take control and don't let them control your wallet and enjoyment.

If you take forever to load in to a game...
Camperdown replied to DrMechano's topic in General Discussion
Well except for BBs, they can just hang in the back and farm damage, you won't miss them the first five minutes -
In an average WoWs battle more than 10,000 sailors would die. It would be a bloody spectacle if all these sailors would be seen maimed and dying on the decks. I for one am very much aware that my beloved historical ships fought some very bloody and lethal battles. I don't mind we are not seeing that in this game and we can play the illusion without visible gore.

No, my main complaint is that as there is very little differentiation in player skill level in MM win or lose is almost a chance thing

As they say around here: tovarich, the spreadsheet says you're having fun

I don't like to whine, but yes this is increasingly frequent. WG seems unconcerned though, which makes me think they are now milking this game for cash without concern for the long term viability of the game. Which is a pity, I really like the game but it's increasingly frustrating.

Legendary modules: which do you really think worthwhile
Camperdown posted a topic in General Discussion
Greatings, Captains! I have grinded a couple of legendary upgrades now, and found some of them OK, some meh. Shima: reduction in torp reload time replaces standard module and slows down tube traverse speed to veeeerrry slow. Thinking about changing it out again to gain tactical flexibility in brawl. I am currently grinding Grovozoi and Mino for the upgrades. Which of the legendary modules do you really like, and which are meh in your view? -
Radar still ruining gameplay and WG dont care about it
Camperdown replied to DocStrangeFruit's topic in General Discussion
Just another thought. Think of your DD as an invisible ship that has permanent radar on. Most of the time you can spot everything while they can't see you? How fair is that. Now radar evens these odds a bit. As a DD main I am not complaining. -
I welcome your concern for our well-being. I think as a DD you have to accept you do not survive every game. In those cases dealing better than you get is my goal.
-
Welcome back and have fun. CV rework is exercising most people, HE spam by Smolensk and patato playstyle by camping ships.
-
Thinking about it a bit more: yeah, if you are shooting at BBs it does make some sense. Big slow moving targets is a different proposition than targeting specific parts of a DD at 10 km. I am a DD main, so slow slugging matches are not my primary experience.
-
Just curious, how much cash (euros, dollars) have you spent on WoWs? Any big spenders here?
-
Well that's more about leading your aim, which imho also makes it rather difficult to aim at specific areas of the ship.
-
Then the whole 'aim at' discussion is moot, because hitting what you aim for is RNG.
-
Maybe silly question, but with dispersion as it as, how do you manage to aim at specific parts of ships (and hit). My experience is I just fart in their general direction and pray for the best.

Radar still ruining gameplay and WG dont care about it
Camperdown replied to DocStrangeFruit's topic in General Discussion
You check the enemy team before start for radars and check your minimap during the game for their position. Until you have all enemy radar ships accounted for, you assume you may be radared any time and plan potential evasive action accordingly. If you don't do this as standard operating procedure, I understand why there are all these complaints on this forum. -

As a DD main I have no problem with radar. Or with CVs most of the time for that matter. And I am just an average player. -
RANKED SEASONS T10, most suitable ships in the current meta
Camperdown replied to AlphaBaboon's topic in General Discussion
I have started with Daring, but had little chance to play yet. So far so good. Will give Mino a shot with radar later this weekend. -
Tier 10 BB's are cowards, why is that?
Camperdown replied to DarkPhariah's topic in General Discussion
That's what baffles me the most: even losing does not seem to move some players -
Well It's finally here, buy a tier 10 premium! Sad sad day.
Camperdown replied to Redcap375's topic in General Discussion
I think two separate things are mashed together in this (and many other bad tempered) threads. 1) WoWs is a free to play game which tries to seduce players to spend lots of money for additional benefits. This business model is necessary for WG to stay in business. 2) if WG exploits this fact too ruthlessly, the quality of the game suffers and players that have a lot of time/money invested in this game feel cheated. I also find it difficult that as a long term player (albeit with little money invested) that I have no control over the way WG decides to arbitrarily improve or damage the quality of the game. As I find WoWs basically a very good game which I still like to play, this powerlessness annoys me but I realize I in the end will have to accept or decline and quit. I can only challenge the wisdom of WG to damage the game for their long term and most loyal player base, but in the end it is their call. -
Agreed. However, if you take risk and you fail and die, everyone cries noob DD etc. Players also have to learn sometimes you try something and it does not work out, esp if you are vulnerable ship like DD or Mino with radar.

203mm SAP doesn't pen british cruisers
Camperdown replied to SV_Kompresor's topic in General Discussion
Historically SAP could pen up to 75% of its calibre in thickness. So I understand the op surprise -
Tier 10 BB's are cowards, why is that?
Camperdown replied to DarkPhariah's topic in General Discussion
Well, it may surprise you, but often the DD is not yoloing but simply doing its job, and yes, it is the BBs fault. As a DD you have to spot, cap and sink enemy DDs at the start of the game. Of course you have to be careful, but you have to get into harms way to spot for your heavies and deny the same to the enemy. It does not matter if you cap or not, it's about your distance to the nearest enemy, at the edge of your and his detectability. If that is the case you might as well try to cap. Not to hold at any cost, but you can at least try. In this situation, if you are a decent captain and have not made stupid mistakes, your survival to a significant extent depends on the quality of your team. If they have moved up and are actively support you, you can more or less hold your ground, kill or scare off enemy DDs and achieve a tactical advantage which will often sustain during the game. The first few minutes of play are key. That's why I hate noobs going sideways or fooling around. Also, that DD rushing in, most of the time is just doing his job. Sure, you have fools that don't know how to minimise the risk and die unnecessary. But the point is, DDs have to take risks. The game is suffering because it is too easy for BaBBies to sit back and let their team down in the first five minutes. -
I also had a love/hate relationship with Neptune and found it hard to play her consistently well. Sold her now and have Mino, which I find much easier to play, always with radar. You can really play Mino as a big DD with radar and lots of dakadaka
