Frustrating as it is, you have to be prepared for the odd night of totally disfunctional teams. Earlier this week I had 7 lost games in a row on one evening with me top of my team 3 times and top 3 3 more times (1 game I patatoed). I cursed my luck and quit the game for the day

You are right of course. However, WG is constantly trying to tempt people into events which seem to promise more than you get. And then hopes you will draw your wallet and spend money to end your frustration. Such a free to whale model is constantly playing on people's weaknesses and thus irritating. This is somewhat at odds with what people want to derive from a game: fun and relaxation. That's why people get very frustrated and angry when WG blatantly tries to farm it's loyal player base for money.

Great event! Great success! Players are wildly enthusiastic I hope WG will learn from this but I am not holding my breath.

The problem is what is called in psychology 'bounded rationality'. Humans are only partly rational beings and human weeknesess can be actively exploited. Any provider of a substance or service for which the human brain is vulnerable, be it tabacco, alcohol, drugs, gambling or games, thus has a moral choice to make. Do I maximize the exploitation of human weaknesses, or do I pose certain ethical limits on what I do. I believe WG has a serious problem in the ethical department. Any legitimate firm that trades in a business that can do potential harm to humans, needs to have an explicit ethical code and staff who are tasked to guard the rules of conduct. Facebook is now in serious trouble because they failed miserably in this area. OP makes clear WG is also failing miserably. They have a choice to make. Maximize profits or have a more balanced set of corporate goals. I am not optimistic about their choices. It thus is a great pity that the producer of a game I really like in its fundamentals seems to be going off the deep end in its unethical conduct.

I think WeeGee has an obvious ethical problem. Reminds me of big tabacco, too big to fail banks, diesel gate you name it. Unchecked corporate greed with inadequate regulation and no sense of responsibility. Sad.

Agreed, I do this all the time. But not necessarily singlehandedly. If I am overmatched I try to organise help in chat. Not always successfully though

I don't have a problem with the DD counters in the game. It does make DDs one of the hardest classes to play well. 'First contact' is crucial and if you get it wrong you will die quickly. As a result it is hard to git gud in DDs. What I do notice is that if you play a DD for the benefit of the team, you farm less damage and get fewer rewards than in other lines. So I think the rewards for doing the right thing in a DD (spotting, capping, surviving) could be buffed a bit.

Sounds like you're an OK dude ( and Dutch, both good things). Hang in there, it's a complex game with a substantial learning curve. Yes there are many patatos out there. As a DD player, besides all the good advice already given, do 2 things every game: - check the lineup before start for CV's, radars and detection range of opposing DDs - watch your teams behaviour when approaching your initial cap. Every one moving up, cruisers 4 km behind you (their spotting range - yours): things look good, try to achieve something. All teammates hanging back behind islands 10 km away: play defensively and always have an exit strategy As a DD you should be running shotgun. Knowing when it's safe to do so is vital in this game. I have got to D5 which I will not complete. Got nice rewards I think, so I am not unhappy. However, so far there are 60 players in the hall of insane. Out of 10s of thousands of players. That, and the false advertising at the start have made this a major f-up from WeeGee. I hope they will learn from this, but I fear they will not

I have asked myself the same question. My guess is that the one-sidedness of the bombardment is annoying. Which it is. You don't want to endure the rain, you want to hit back.

The ladies do complain too much. I am an average player DD main but only occasionally have a real problem with CVs. They are a nuisance but don't prevent me from playing my game

Ah this is new to me. So how do you face rockets? And which are not most?
