This really should not be a reason not to carry camo. You can purchase simple camo for 7.5 or 22.5 K credits. It will pay itself every game.
-
I think this is bad advice. If a BB has a good shot at a DD, take it. You may take off at least a quarter of its health, which is very valuable for the team.

Demount all signals, I did and gained a total of 567
Camperdown replied to Ronchabale's topic in General Discussion
Interesting. I am a F2P player and run my ships almost nude most of the time. I think a lot of signals are overrated, but they earn WG good moneh. Kick your habit mate -
Wut changes? More noobs in Tirpitz

Ah, I thought the title was Big Three in Shatter and you had encountered Enty, Payfast and Benham in the red team

The many times I have responded to F7 in chat: no you need to close; and got -1 karma

To me toxic is personal attacks with (racial) slurs or wishing you or your relatives deadly diseases or bodily harm. That is also the only type of behaviour I will report by ticket as a matter of principle.

would single type matches be a benefit?
Camperdown replied to SkollUlfr's topic in General Discussion
CV only games at T4 would be a very good idea. Hard cap all tiers to 1 CV per side. If there are more than 20 CVs in queue at T3-5, start a CV only game 6 v 6 and let them have fun clubbing eachother. -
Says the master griefer of playing toxic ships Genuine question: do you think toxic play is usually intentional, or lack of skill? I have the impression it's usually the latter.
-
Oh, I do get salty every once in a while, but toxic is something else. So imo the difference is not between toxic and calm, but between people who think they have the right to be obnoxious when they feel wronged and those who keep in mind even a window licker is a human being. A mentally challenged human being, but still
-
No, sorry, people are toxic because they feel entitled and lack self control.

I call it a target rich environment

You really think there is any reason that will stop WG doing this crap?
-
Sorry, WG is not terribly interested in fixing stuff. More in breaking stuff to tempt you to buy solutions. Nasty business model, but there you have it.

DD Hatsuharu can't get the hang of it
Camperdown replied to bloodlord2510's topic in General Discussion
This tactic loses too much valuable time and space to my liking. I go forward pretty directly in my DD, watch for the planes and smoke up if I have to. That does work better in RN DDs than IJN ones I admit, but still. -

Inspired by 2 recent threads (the one in the title and the one about which ship you would instabuy) I would like to share my geeky ship hobby and ask if anyone else does something similar. For a long time now I have been 'designing' my own navy. I have been a naval buff since I was 15. At some point the weaknesses in historical ships started to itch and I started to think how they could have been better. Prime example: British battlecruisers. Add a bit of armour and they would have been so much better. With small tube boilers they would not even need to be larger. At some point I started to imagine my own navy with own designs. As I really did not want unrealistic designs that could not have existed, I stick to the technology of the day and concepts that are not ahistorical. After first positioning my navy in Russia, I have chosen a fictional country of Iberia as home of my ships. Iberia is a fusion of Spain and Portugal that took a different course after 1815: it modernised early and became a dynamic and wealthy society. I developed the characteristics of my ships in an xls spreadsheet. I calculate all weight categories: hull, armour, armament, machinery, fuel and equipment. Also: displacement, dimensions lxbxd, block coefficient and circ M. I made outline drawings of my ships to make sure the layouts work. I have now legends and outlines for BBs, cruisers, DDs and CVs from 1850 to 1950. My navy is a first rate navy, usually 3rd or 4th in size and capability after the RN, USN, French an German navies, depending on the era. Under the Washington and London treaties the Iberian Navy had the same size as the Japanese Navy: 9 BBs. The Iberian Navy also fought wars: it was part of the allies in WW1 and WW2. At Jutland a squadron of 6 fast Iberian BBs engaged the German BCs instead of Beatty, sinking Lutzow, Derfflinger and Seydlitz. At Denmark Strait 2 Iberian BBs meet Bismarck with a better outcome. I really enjoy tinkering with my ships and believe they have a high level of realism, to the extent that they could have been built in the real world. Does anyone have a similar hobby developing ship concepts? How have you done this and what kinds of ships comprise your Navy?

I think I will add in Cuba and Phillipinas, Espana and Iberia can also do. Some nice Catholic names would also be cool, those ships of the line from the Napoleonic times sound awesome: Santissima Trinidad and the likes
-
Thanks. That's 16-17 kingdoms/principalities. For most of the time that will do for my navy, as it usually has 15-20 BBs.
-
Can you point me to a list of historical Spanish kingdoms? It would be cool to name my BBs after them.
-
I know RN BCs weren't that bad. Their blowing up at Jutland was a result of poor (Friedman calls it suicidal) propellant handling practices. Their armour protection was just moderate, though, and I think 10 or 11 inch protection on the big cats would have made them very formidable. Interestingly, stronger protection was considered a few times, but not adopted. I am aware of the game in alpha and am keeping an eye on it. Groeten!

The Netherlands are quite active in peacekeeping and patrolling ops such as in the gulf and the Carribbean.

I haven't named my ships, because I don't speak Spanish. I assume there would be a lot of province and city names. Interesting would also be Catholic names. I call my ships by type and year, so this is B7. She was laid down in 1907 and completed in 1909. Assuming BBs would have province names, she might have been called HIMS Leon or Catalunia.
