Let us please not wade deeper into the swamp of escalating overmatch.

Can we have a drunken randoms battle option?
Camperdown replied to Barney_Wobba's topic in Off-Topic
I was under the impression we only have the drunken randoms option. Can we also have the sober option? -
I know this has been said before. Just had a T4 game in a DD (5 epochs campaign). 2 red CVs focus on me, I am dead in 3 minutes. No AA, no counterplay, just cannon fodder. This is the environment in which WG receives new players. Shame on you. This is so easy to fix: hard cap 1 CV. Why in other tiers but not entry level? This is one of the key things that makes me lose any good faith in WG. Btw to avoid any potential misunderstanding: I don't care about the lost game, but it is such a frustrating thing to subject new players to this misery. How will they l2p?

I don't blame you for playing the CV as you should, I blame WG for internationally messing up the game.
-
Which is exactly what destroys any trust I have in WG to be a decent company.

I hold you personally responsible for any WG actions this X-mas because of this irresponsible post which they will surely jump on! It's like giving a child a razor blade

RU radar duration is too short to create no go zones. US radar does not have the range to make it safe to use for the cruiser. So it comes down to your own skill and that of your team. Your own skill to position yourself to be influential without being too exposed. Your team's skill to attack the red DD or an exposed radar cruiser with extreme prejudice. Your own skill you can develop, teams however grow increasingly bad as skill levels at T8-10 plummet. A good enemy team with a good CV and a couple of radar cruisers make DD play quite hard these days.

I agree with you completely, +1. Taking deep breath. However, the level of stupidity of too many teams of late is so breathtaking as to approach the level of insanity. People are playing at T8-10 with a complete lack of understanding of game mechanics and tactics. Ships just floating around doing random stuff and not even understanding sensible advice on positioning and targeting. If you have such teams a few times in a row and you then get a CV who does not even know how to fire rockets while the red CV is a unicum just crapping all over you and your team. Let me say that my considerable patience is being severily taxed lately

I sincerely don't get why players get so very worked up about CVs. Yeah, I understand it's a broken class and there is no counterplay. But if I look what really ruins the fun of playing WoWs, it's broken teams that do not have the foggiest idea what they are doing or players that have anti-social tendencies. If I think how often a CV ruins my game it is perhaps 1 game in 20. And I am a DD main. Not enough to stay permanently worked up about.

If you allow that my WR is lower because of legacy: yes, me. I have spent 20 euros on dublouns once in 2015 and my current WR is 55-60%.

Hi. I am grinding some tech tree lines and would like to know which to prioritise. So, which ships do you find the best T10 BB, cruisers and DD? No gold premiums, I am F2P. CVs don't interest me. If you feel strongly about a T9, throw them in too.

Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
Camperdown replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
About 20% of the games I play. -
Figure out what type of ship you like to play and stick to T5-7 for a while. Start playing randoms and ops, it will teach you much more than coop.

Thanks a lot for all your good advice. It really helps to focus my next steps. I already have all DDs (regrinding IJN tree now) and DM, Thunderer, Alaska, just got Montana. Will now focus on Petro, Yammy and Conq. Am grinding Seattle now, intend to reset that line as soon as I get double RP again. 1 Q about Ohio: what's the diff with Thunderer? Have a good one!
-
I play mostly solo random and some ranked if it is not too painful.
-
Why Stalin and not Petro?
-
Yep I have a general idea and there have been quite a few threads earlier, but just wanted to have the latest take on this.
-
So in your opinions, is any of the LMs still really recommendable?
-
I voted no, that should be read as: not as much fun as T7-9.
-
Hi, The reduced visibility situations are tricky. What a team should do is concentrate in order not to get overwhelmed when spotted. So when you were outnumbered I guess your reaction to disengage was correct. However, if this left Zao exposed alone, you may have considered retreating slightly later to tank some of the damage for him. More likely though, he may have been just one of those d!cks who blame anyone else for his own mistakes.
-
I agree, you can make something of over 90% of random games. 30% are actually good fun, 60% are OK but you need to watch your own teams behaviour carefully to get the most out of it, and 10% is sheer misery due to the complete cluelessness of your team making any intelligent play impossible

Heh it reminds me of a T7 game where some squishy T6 cruiser was going all yolo and I pressed F9. He listened and turned back, which is a small miracle in itself. After 3 minutes he was 10 km behind the rest of our flank and I pressed F5. He responded in chat: now what do you want me to do, get back or help? I thought I want you to grow a brain, but restrained myself and said: can you now get closer and support please? two cheers for this guy for at least trying to listen to his team
-
I usually translate Get Back as: stop what you are doing right now as it will lead to speedy ruin. A sort of desist order

Maybe I am wrong, but I think I am seeing more absolutely moronic behaviour lately. Yesterday a IJN DD sailed south and only came into the battle after 10 minutes shooting its guns at a Colorado. First I thought it was a bot, but apparently it was a humanoid after all. Too many braindead zombies of late.
