OK, so we have many threads now where we complain about absolute that we have as teammates and how our blood pressure has blown a gasket. This is the confession thread. I think it would be useful to make a distinction between: 1. CV mechanics are broken and CVs make WoWs unplayable 2. There is no counterplay to CVs so CVs are a superfluous and parasitic element that detract from the quality of the game 3. On average CV players are mediocre, so the main practical problems are when the skill difference between the red and the green CV is large or if the red CV driver is a unicum player 4. A specific problem is the MM with 2 CVs per team at entry level tiers where many ships have no significant AA All these issues are usually mashed together which confuses the discussion. As many participants seem to prioritise repeating their own cherished opinions and pissing on others, we currently have a sticky CV thread with a gazillion mostly repetitive posts.

As a DD main you are extra vulnerable to the stupidity of teams. One thing that helped me is adapting my play style much more to my team: assertive if a team seems to make the right moves and seems responsive, cautious if they act like [edited]. I also play DDs that can act independently to a high degree, my favourite being Lightning.

WG apparently thinks WoWs is on the down phase of the lifecycle and is milking it for every last rouble regardless of the effect on game meta.

I used to see divisions as an asset on my team, but nowadays I dread them as they invariably compound their stupidity. DD or cruiser only div is high chance of loss as they will abandon one flank making it almost impossible to even mount a decent defence. Asking them to be useful in chat will result in -2 or -3 karma to add insult to injury

My recommendation would depend on your experience. Couple of K games with good WR? Sure. Mediocre stats, prob not. Why? Having fun in WoWs requires some base level of skill imo. If you struggle to perform, it's not great fun currently. Main current issues imo: - poor average player skill leads to boring or frustrating games and stomps - poor management of game balance by WG leads to stupid game meta: CVs, radars, overmatch result in camping and yolo plays But I still find it fun most of the time. If you have no game you like better and you can hold your own in WoWs you can give it a try.

Just two minor quibbles: - WoWs as a historical simulator game: muwahaha - IJN AA was not worldclass, that would have been USN

What I find wrong with this thread and with misbehaviour in chat is that people feel entitled to act like jerks because it is, you know, their opinion. Common courtesy is a quality too often missing.

As a general rule, players are often too passive. They lemming to one side and then just sit there. They stay on the side where they outnumber the enemy until the last red ship is killed, and only then do they move to B. By that time 2 caps have been red for minutes and half the green team has been killed and the game is lost. So yeah, many players have difficulty keeping an overview over the entire battle and don't push when they should.

Hi Latirn, Don't give up yet. DDs can be hard to play and many players in WoWs suck. My advice to you would be to try playing a more balanced DD line, like for example the UK DDs, which are excellent generalist DDs. I love the T8 Lightning. They also have low detectability but much better guns. Also, you mostly use your guns in DDs in very specific situations: - to attack enemy DDs - to finish off low HP ships - when you are in smoke and your torps are on cool down If you fire your guns in a DD at every opportunity, you are wasting your stealth. If not already detected, use guns only when you get the better of the fight, for example if you are supported. Finally, learn to read your team. Check the enemy team for radars and CVs before game start. Try to see where all radar cruisers are before taking too much risk. If your team is not making the right moves, if cruisers are not supporting you, play as if you are on your own and take much less risk. GL HF

WG has been screwing up it's game and the players for a long time. Alas the best one can do is adapt and find a few sweet spots where play is relatively good.
