I would like to join the lottery.

I had always assumed you would be matched against a clan with a similar level of points.

Btw it is also interesting to note that fire control in WoWs, as with many game mechanics, has no relation with historical reality
-
What you are referring to is fire control systems vs methods. In your fire control method you fire one or more rounds with a spread or tightly grouped. The German Navy introduced a very effective fire control method in WW1, whereby they fired 3 salvos in quick succession at the start of the engagement. These were spaced in ladders, so you got a quick approximate firing solution. For a firing solution you need many variables, but mainly range and rate of range change. So first you need to find a good firing solution which will give you a first straddle (a salvo with overs as well as shorts and possibly a hit). Then if you have the rate of change right, you will stay on target. You may also lose your target or solution, due to a lapse in visibility or other factors. Then you need to start over again.

This has evolved over time. 1. Victorian age: very little fire control. Gun captain lays individual gun. Effective range is less than 3000 yards. 2. 1890s: first fire control aids arrive: optical sights on guns and short base rangefinders. This results in first attempts to do central spotting and central control in the early 1900s. 3. Around 1905 to WW1: fire control systems evolve. Spotting station high up is combined with control station below under armour. Spotting station and leads to control station are exposed and vulnerable, so are duplicated. Various calculating instruments are developed. Turrets may have secondary control stations. Being armoured, they are less vulnerable, but being low down they are less effective. 4. Just before WW1 the RN introduces the director, a central sight in the masthead which controls all guns. 5. After WW1 the Director Control Tower (DCT) is introduced, combining all control elements in one revolving tower on top of the bridge structure. I don't know what kind of fire control Yamato had, but I assume it is a DCT with radar airials attached.

Interesting info from sister-NA Forum: "Fire calculation confirmation" by April "LittleWhiteMouse"

Sure. Their secondaries fire he -
As I have no intention to sit in my smoke till you get back that's all fine and dandy with me

As I have said earlier: as a DD you don't need to be better than the CV. You just need to be better than the red DD against your CV. Now that is a bit of a random draw
-
So far 6 or 7. I know, but it's the way we lose. Stupid, incompetent, no team play. Have gone to Narai to relax.
-
Lighting can have 7 smokes. I rarely run out, about as often as a CV runs out of planes

Why aren't we allowed to make threads about CVs?

That's the one thing I have to take issue with as well. WG does not strike me as a very enlightened firm, but rather old skool take the moneh and run. -
Shifting the goal posts? OP said DDs are dead. They are not.

WR is going to vary in the short term, don't get spooked by that. Best ways to improve: - use the wiki to understand your ships and get a decent base setup for upgrades and captain skills - don't rush through the tiers, enjoy the journey. T10 isn't heaven and some of the best play is in T6-8 - choose a limited number of grinds. Too much grinding wears you out. Play at least half your games for enjoyment - watch your stats with some detachment. Stats are useful to see if you are broadly doing things well and spot ships or lines that don't work for you - F2P works better than you might think. Lavish spending does not improve your game and encourages WG in exploitative behaviour - ask advice and feedback on this forum if you feel you're stuck and can't figure it out. Friendly warning: social skills on this forum are mixed and some posters are more interested in buffing their ego than having a good conversation GL&HF

I fear that WG in its continuous drive to scam money will dumb down the game further and make the life of DDs harder.

Pushing up the daisies?

In a Lightning I can survive against all but the very best and most determined CV players. Only 1 game in a hundred I am killed by a good player who is out to get me.
-
Ah, one of the Buffalo's had no radar
-
You need to distinguish 2 ways of using smoke: - brief smoke to break detection: used against planes and when spotted by surface ships in situation of disadvantage. As soon as you are no longer at risk of detection, exit smoke and continue. - gun boating in smoke: either briefly to finish a low HP enemy, or longer to farm damage. Make sure you are not in an exposed position as you will attract radar and torps like a magnet.
-
Do you have "Forgotten" / "Neglected" lines of ships and how do you handle them?
Camperdown replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I have priority lines, which I have either completed to T10, or am actively grinding. I like DDs most, so have completed most lines to T10, have reset IJN torp boats. Some lines I don't care about not prio, French, Khaba. Cruisers are next, I am now completing the most interesting lines. BBs not priority, just play them for some directives. CV's: are you serious? I grind 2-5 lines at any one time. No prio = no play. -
Map famous landmarks... (maybe already discussed)

Nice, Sintra is one of my favourite places! Could this be related to the contest from WG a few months ago? -
Haha, that's proper punishment for insane whaling
-
Oh yeah, they will argue it is legal, however if the content of what you buy is very different from what you might reasonably expect, it is a breach of law. Oc, they will get away with it as usual and will try it in a slightly different way next time.
-
Building on what you wrote: if the drop rate is very different from what you might reasonably expect, it does constitute false advertising under EU law.

An encouragement to ask for a santa crate refund (and possibly a class action lawsuit)

As someone who supervises the financial industry when he is not playing WoWs, my guess is that your best chance lies with complaining to your regulatory authorities, such as the Kansspel Autoriteit in the NL. Even a few dozen complaints are likely to get noticed. I don't know if there is also a European institution of the sort. I am no lawyer, but a lawsuit seems a long shot.
