At 50% or so WR you should be able to progress a bit in ranked, but this looks harsh. I set myself limits. If I lose 1 or 2 stars I stop with ranked for the day.

You new here or just a slow learner?

In my experience, you have to test the waters a few times. I don't know how exactly, but I have the strong impression the noob game spammers move in groups. Apparently their behaviour is similar enough so that some days early in the sprint they play a lot and teams are terrible. Then after a few days it gets better and you can move up the ranks. Late in the sprint it gets worse again is my impression. So I try a few ranked games every day and see what the average player quality seems to be. If they are totally crap, I lower my expectations, play fewer ranked games and adjust my play style. And just try the waters next day until I find a bell weather spot and I progress. So I usually rank out in a few playing days, with some crap patches at start and in between. Another thing I do, and this may be superstition, is when I had a terrible team, I wait a minute or two before I start the next battle, so I won't have the same imbeciles on my team a second time It also gives me a moment to let my frustration go down a bit

Is it me, or are the rewards for the Italian BB campaign more generous than usual? Plenty tokens, free ships and camos. WG does not seem stingy this time?

I can understand it would be a lot of work. My point is really quite fundamental. WG has made big mistakes by a combination of decisions fueled by greed and opportunistic tinkering which screws up the fundamental balance of the game. So some more drastic changes are now needed to restore the game to health. Cruisers imo are most urgently in need of some fundamental tlc. And I am not thinking of the Soviet balanz cruisers in this context, but some of the others that have been fatally powercrept.

Interesting post I think the overmatch BS is the biggest problem. Next comes high citadels that can be devastated at will by BBs. In short, cruisers are too vulnerable. Reduce vulnerability and suddenly cruisers are viable again. So, reduce overmatch and citadel exposure and things are already a lot more balanced.

One thing I seem to miss so far in the responses. Smaland is DD hunter. At least trying to get support from your team is KSF? Sure you won't always get it, but you should try and adjust your aggression to it. So in chat: hi, I will be your red DD destroyer for this battle. With my radar I can keep red DDs spotted. Cruisers please shoot said DDs. BBs, please keep red cruisers from blapping me. Do this, and ya'll will be safe from red DDs and live long and prosper. If they do help you, your survival rate shoots up. If they don't, lower your risk appetite accordingly.

Something that has been happening gradually is now imo starting to kill the fundamentals of the game. New players with no skills or understanding are playing at T8-10. It is too easy to buy your way to the top tiers. T9-10 premiums are just floating around cluelessly doing piewpiew. Experienced players have little choice but to either sealclub or to be stomped. Games are uninspiring, short and frustrating. It is like playing football with toddlers. The fun and challenge that is imo the attraction of WoWs is hemorrhaging out of the game, which is sick and dying. I am not sure if WG cares. Superficially they may still earn well from the game now, but this cannot continue indefinitely. I worry it may be beyond the tipping point soon and cannot be salvaged anymore. WG execs, please pay attention. Your shortsighted decisions may soon start to snowball and finish this game which still has huge unexploited potential. You have to start investing in the quality of game experience again or face its demise.

And that's the secondary effect that's killing the game. People give up even trying to play decently, because it doesn't make a difference anyways. I am not blaming you, but if it's impossible to play this game in a sensible way anymore, it's beyond the tipping point and will slide down the slope ever faster.

My wish list: - separate good players from trash in MM - eliminate silly overmatch mechanics - create better maps with fewer islands - change reward system so that good play is rewarded more than damage farming

T8: Lightning, perhaps Edinburgh (strongest T8 radar ship?) T9: nope. Premiums and T10 dominance are too strong.

Report a ticket. It's the one thing they do act on.
