So let me see if I get this right. Players spec their captains based on the relative benefit of the skills. You change the skills so that while we had the strongest possible setup, this is no longer the case. And then we have to pay a lot to change our captain skills? The decent thing would have been a free respec, failing that at least a discount would have been in order. But then we have long stopped expecting that WG show any decency

There is a key difference between Smaland and Marceau. Marceau has a huge detection range and no smoke. So yes it is a pain and a tough bugger to kill. But as a DD, you can easily avoid it and the trick is to keep it spotted and have your CLs kill it. All the other high DPM boats you can mostly outspot, so no prob. If you spot Smaland it will switch on radar and melt you with high DPM. In randoms it is still manageable but in ranked it is OP. A good Smaland in ranked makes sure it has reasonable cover and a good angle on a cap and any other DD cannot compete. I play Daring, Smaland is the only DD I dread. Now you can stamp your feet, turn blue in the face and repeat many, many times that it is not so. But it is.

Not overrating. But for contesting caps and fighting other DDs this is a strong skill. So now they change it so it becomes desirable rather than crap as it was before and I have to pay 500 gold for any DD/captain I want to equip it with. It stinks. When posters here said they would not skill their captains or even play the game until the skills had been calibrated, I thought they were exaggerating. Apparently they were bang on the money. WG just has a crap track record at managing this game in a fair and balanced way.

I am F2P so did not have the FXP in time to buy her. And I am working on my skills. However, you just ignore the point: with radar and DPM Smaland is a DD killing machine. It is bad practice to have overpriced OP ships and then remove them. Just the same old same old nasty WG business practices.

In ranked the only DD I pay attention to in the red team is Smaland. So I do think it is OP.

BB invulnerability is a fallacy. Also historically. 15" and 16" hits will do damage, it is the equivalent of an express train hitting your ship. So your proposal is a bad idea because it makes a tanky class even less vulnerable and it is devorced from real life.
