ok after I foudn the newspage post going in detail on those missions I do no longer consider them that much of a problem.... prolly wont get stage 5 but as long as I'll manage to burst throught stage 1 and 2 reasonably fats all the rest should come by it's own xD -
that ain't rng though.....

I have had such case exacly once I've learned my lesson and since then it never happened to me again most recently I've even learned my lesson to not assume battlships not being suicidal to charge down narrow path with two dds smoked inside, won't do that mistake again those posts are neither "generalising so hard" neither they show anyone being clueless - oh maybe those who opose them so hard as you do right now - one must be at least partially clueless to repeat multiple times the same mistake and not learning their lesson and lesson here is - do not fire a torpedos if there is any chance of friendly ship getting into line of fire - as simple as that, and I have no idea how dense one must be to not be able to get that simple rule

which is tier lower, is simillar speed if not faster, more hp, is reward for getting rank 1 three times in a row, actually turns and as oposed to akizuki reliably penetrate things with HE..... am I missing something? also ironically out of all reviews I have seen only Mouse have actually mentioned closest in role ship being known HE spammer - all the rest, liek literally every other review I have seen out there says that HE shel on akizuki is crapbecause of not being able to penetrate even a belt armor of mostly seen destroyer, sure OP as crap, plz nurf [*sigh*] EDIT: one advice - get rank up your destroyers up to high tiers, and you will notice how much of a hindrance 33kn of top speed by itself is - before even getting into things like rudder shift time or turn radius

ok let me rephrase it to you a large amounts of high tier DDs in current game balancing means two things alot of torps, and alot of DD disturbing each other activities, like you know knifefighting may be fun and all but we all want to get asap to getting damage out of those hp piniatas that we were told capital ships would be I have never felt asa DD player that "a pack of 3-4 cruisers" was restricting my movement, actually until they got radar such a pack was interesting torpedo target - even if one cruiser avoided, their formation ws making someone to receive the hit on too many BBs: from my perspective in a cruiserplay and with additional note of a opinions of my friend who happens to play BBs and be quite good with them: 1-2 BBs are formidabel force, any cruiser or even cruiser pack needs to be aware off - back in the days before KM BB release, when I was leveling up my cruisers it was actually quite common that the "task force" of 4 CAs breaking throught the flank was broken up on the first battleship to be encountered - but it was not hindering fun things much because, hey there ws only 3 BBs in their team overall so it was always an option to get to a flank without those, and we coudl have actually won the encounter if those other 3 guys were anglign properly but they didn't.... - now what happens with 4+BBs per battle: firstly of all - unless enemy team go full lemmingtrain [does not happen often] there will be no flank free of BBs, more over, with two, often 3 battleships on one flank you are trying to push [assuming even you have anyone to push with - no more 4 CA task forces as 4 CA's in a match gets nowaday my average, not to mention getting enought to have 4 on one team on one flank] it gets literally impossible to angle well against them all unless you are pointing your stern at them and are running away, then maybe you'll be able to kite their fire - but to actually angle your armor to deflect the shells? not gonna happen with small amounts of BBs per team you could keep up decently long as a cruiser against a battleship, because when you got citadeled, it WAS your fault, nowaday, no matter what you do - unless you are kutuzov spamming he from smoke on the borders of the skirmish you WILL at a point receive citadel hits. additionally a word from my friend - he does not like alot of battleships in match as a battleship player himself, for sorta similar reasons actually - with so many different battleships in a match you can't effectively angle against them all and larga amounts of high caliber shells are quite a hindrance to him - much more of hindrance than cruiser or two he spamming him so in short: too many BBS ruins the game for BBs and cruisers, too many DDS ruins the game for DDs and BBs, while I am yet to see an actuall case of "too many CAs", haven't got such a feel even when playing in those funny times where 8-9 cruisers a game was usuall thing I have never got a feel of CV ruining my game unless it was my own CV having literally 0 idea of what he is doing or what he was supposed to be doing -
no wonder you get wrecked by USN ones if you try to engage them at this ranges speaking in raw stats alone, maybe but yet I have no problem with handling IJN DD guns and getting up against USN destroyers, please bear in mind that I don't own any decent crew retrainer ship so I have spend half of my battles in kagero retraining the captain, and over a half of fubuki battles training him up to that magical 15p I doubt you really read my posts is it? well maybe, I haven't checked it and assumed that it turns better with that much higher speed of her, if I am wrong in this assumption, then my bad assuming my most recent calculations on that are anyhow up to date, not as much earlier for it to matter, and then bear in mind that I am also talking from perspective of 40-50 battles without CE due to retraining - I was able to handle that kagero in gunfights, then you should have no problem whatsoever with handling gunfights in shima as long as you know what you are supposed to do to actually win them, your little rant above shows sings of lack of this knowledge and their flat trajectories making them easy to hit enemy destroyers up to 10km [assuming that shimakaze guns are anyhow similar to kagero ones, but I'd be surprise if they were worse than fubuki's guns] where with basic wigglign usn DD will miss out 90% of shots indeed it is a disputable if it really is so neutral on the base of performance as WG claims, as IJN DD rarely fires up the guns immediatelly on finished reloads as their other nation counterparts and thats precisely why I implied earlier in this post you not reading my post as if you did you'd notcide that by all means I am not a fan of nerfing alpha damage of those guns in exchange for rate of fire, all I was oposing in your post was rumbling on how they have ruined the ship without even playing it out, and the part on not being able to engage gunboats with yer guns PS. additionally if you loose half your hp on meeting USN destroyer, before getting into cover/your prefered range it means to me that either you have noticed him darn too late, or mismaneuvered first phase of a knifefight greatly, or was wasting your time on things like "oh he's close so lets sail straight for a moment so I can dump those 15 torps, maybe he won't dodge them" [at least in my case when I loose so much in such cases is a direct result of my own huge misplay, usually when played right I don't loose more than 1/4 of hp before getting into my preferred ranged, and enemy USN DD gets smacked by 1/3rd in the meanwhile.... although that tactic may turn irrelevant with tomorrows patch, it will be 100% fun to have to re-learn my main moneymaking ship ]

I had similar cases in my takao, but I'd say it'd be more of sorta latency issue - not permanent thing just me having to smash "fire" button for 30 seconds with all aiming indicators being green before they actually respond and fire..... so maybe yours is similar thing?

the spread of german BB firing at you will get extra tight and on spot in that very moment when you don't manage to complete turn away maneuver as a cruiser before he reloads I have better one: you fire perfectly aimed torpedo volley at enemy battleship and he is sorta scrubby so it all hits giving you epic proportions of dev strike - get devstriked by a friendly BB in split of second before your torpedoes hits

dunno what cruisers do you play but my cruisers seems unable to citadel BBs.... and there is rarely enought cruisers in the oposite team to be able to mathematically sustain 7 citadel hits of mine and I an not the only one shooting at them, ya know remember it's 3 kills and 7 citadels in one match [and we ain't talking RN CLs here we all know they can pump 10 citadels into single CA of other nation before killing it... ]

about cruisers relying on fires in terms of dpsing in team battles, yes but then if you have still sitting in yer teambattles context with the claim of no cruisers apart from atago/takao and RN ones you have failed miserably in preserving context especially considering the fact that team battles has been closed prior to release of RN CLs and long before anyone would think about owning ARP Takao, and thet not only we do not know when they will reopen team battles, but as well - we cannot even stay 100% sure that they will still be t7-t8 battles as the context was not preserved I have pointed out enemies that akizuki is likely to meet more often than not which she will be unable to deal with using HE shells in anyhow resonable time I'm still wondering how with so many people around poiting out obvious weaknesses of the ships for you, you still believe her being OP for just one match of one person where he was lucky to burn decent chunk of hp out of two BBs and a CV....

indeed there is one..... holee crap those stage 4 and 5 mission requirements are out of the moon D: 4 kills, top 4 in exp an 125k damage as a cruiser? with so many BBs around? O.o stage 5 even better with 3 kills, top 3(!) by exp in a team and 7(!) citadel hits both during same battle mind ye..... I don;t think I meet enought targets I even can citadel with my takao for this one...... [and only week for that mission.... I may want to rebuy my aoba....] -

you do not have to be a gunship to make an effective use of your armanent and if you are unable to dodge most of usn shells on distances of 8km+ while ocasionally stabilising to hit him with a truck without much issue to hit him, you may consider swapping to battleship or something, as you clearly do not deserve IJN destroyer [i am able to do this without bigger hindrance on kagero which is slower, and afaik slightly less maneuverable then shima]

yeah definitely - basically I'm a kind of agressive hyperactive player, I just can't stay out of action long enought and struggle to remember to not rush into caps with our destroyers when sailing as takao, which going into caps more often than not ends with a hostile BBs doing nasty things to my citadel most recently I was quite surprised that I actually packed 20k damage in two HE salvoes into kurfurst superstructure fire being usefull to prolong windows of oportunity to fire upon a ship is one thing killing the ship with NOTHING BUT FIRE is totally different also you are wrong, heavy cruisers [at least IJN ones] gets repair party at tier 9 atago[and now takao] was a special here as only heavy cruiser receiving it earlier simillary as t7 USN premiums got "special" for getting radar one tier early when compared to tech tree counterparts

it's good to know that I am not the only one to get an idea of Ibuki carrier being perfect direct IJN counterpart of saipan....... personally would like to have it too, but then any decent IJN prem CV would do for my needs [crewtrainer for my carriers]

oh thats new bit of info, in last Q&A they only mentioned CV UI overhaul and hoping for this alone to fix all CV issues..... there was suggestion to change the damage calculation system in a way to roll for bounce first and then check for overmatching, and in case of shell that would bounce but overmatched force it into being pen at best with no possibility of citadel hit, even if it explodes inside a citadel personally I don't like this specific idea as it will put alot of unnecessary strain on game servers... I do believe thought that overmatching numbers could be looked upon, so BBs with big guns could not citadel angled cruisers by the mere factor of having biggest possible caliber...... overally at this moment I feel that the main problem of most cruisers is their baseline survivability against battleships, in many cases even regardless of how well you are angling, your only hope to survive the salvo is that salvo being aimed at someone else. with this fixed one could take a look at armanent performance of some cruisers if they don't need a touch that + making CVs enjoyable again should be able to deal with current issues of too many BBs

I join the question - is that campain thing a cruiser mostly thing? [i haven't seen any info on what would be objectives of those and I haven't participated in PTS as PTS WoWs hates me and fails to install everytime] -
haven't they stated clearly that prem t5 are not affected by changes in 0.5.15 in the patch notes? no?

not all, I have failed some calculations during the event and never had money in gaming budget left when it was available for sell.... but then I didn't play minekaze in a while - I'm making decent credits in ships I love, so why should I embark on creditmaker?

because cruiser class was invented to have versatile ships that won't be limited by all this things limtiign battleship, and DDs with current balancing just don't work well for anyone in match when in even-remotely-close-to-historically high numbers? -

since the day one of arp events: no this ships will never be sellable captains was not meant to be dismissable, but they also were meant to not take up reserve slots.... [why you even bothered with yokosuka port and arp missions with your attitude toward them is beyond me though] -
last time I checked 90% of my damage on takao is from..... *drumrolls* direct HE/AP hits kutuzov though indeed is firestarter-long range spammer [with smoke] and chappy has radar but then newsflash, akizuki ain't a cruiser and destroyer needs are slightly different than cruiser needs [good luck with taking down enemy destroyer that actively is trying to kill you with fires.....]

I think what he meant is that wight higher rof [other changes to guns aside] people will feel like firing them more oftean resulting in them being visible more often and hence dropping survivability to the lowest of t10 ships as well....

also premium benefits to earning - takao does not have premium status, so in cases where atago easilly makes decent money, takao struggles to break even
