Is that hard to get Richelieu now?

Being #4 at her own tier in this caegory doesn't sound like it.

Khaba, Haru and AP Damage is reduced

It's the third time now they buff the bombs. If they just keep buffing bombers to make up for all the drawbacks this ship has, this'll just lead to some meme level bombs. Could also add a third torpedo bomber per attack run. Thus she gets 30 mm of HE pen? Kita is supposed to be more versatile, a Jack of all trades, master of none and that includes having some drawbacks in various roles too.

    Guide: British Cruisers

Yes, but actually no, imo. Yes, fundamentally, you can have great games in it based on your skill, but the way MM can just crap on you compared to smoke Nep is just not worth it, imo. The main thing with radar Nep is to play it like the most cautious island camper and to know exactly who can shoot you from where and whom you can tank and whom not, as you cannot just smoke up and farm from there. Some maps like Islands of Ice, Tears of the Desert, Okinawa or the rare Ocean can be frustrating with large parts having little useful cover for a Neptune. The gap between radar range and concealment range meanwhile just means you have to be a bit more careful and have a better intuiton about when to radar and when not. I played radar Nep in the past, I wasn't great, but it worked. I reset the line and regrinded Neptune and frankly radar RN CLs to me just feel vulnerable in an age of getting potentially permaspotted by planes and deleted by the supercruisers and BBs, while DDs manage to get themselves killed in record time anyway.

Divisions (Is it becoming a necessity?)

Playing divs can be interesting if I want to be social. Most of the time though, no, I'd rather not. Div mates typically just mean I get less damage, which sucks. Also, I can be social in other games.

Is that hard to get Richelieu now?

I don't see that criticism, but I typically just see that people argue other T8 BBs are better. And typically, they are. And Jean Bart for its tier mostly is kept strong by the fast reload, MBRB, the best consumable in the game and an improved accuracy that avoids it derping around as much.

Is that hard to get Richelieu now?

I mean, it does make sense. Vladivostok and Lenin deal best with HE spam and have guns that overmatch pretty much any cruiser, are somewhat accurate and responsive. So they are pretty much the highest tier for the mode. NC has some armour, but not the damecon. Accuracy and guns are good otherwise, so it is a the next best thing. Improved heal helps too. Bismarck and Tirpitz occupy the role of basically being a battering ram for rushes, thanks to armour, hydro or torps. Amagi would be third tier of conventional layout as a ship that brings the guns, but not the armour. Richelieu brings nothing except good flanking speed, which in a single BB mode with no supercruisers is next to worthless. Monarch is better even, due to being able to basically win every 1v1 BB fight at the tier, having a better option to deal with non-overmatchable cruisers and DDs, having the better repair and having good concealment. Still not as good as better ships, because armour sucks in HE resistance, so you get melted by the Akiduck party. But Richelieu has that too.

Is that hard to get Richelieu now?

Imo, Bismarck is okish. Its guns aren't great, but slightly more consistent than Richelieu. Apart from that, no speed boost, not all frontal gun layout, but great armour and a hydro. If you sec build, you get more out of it than similar build on Richelieu. If you tank build you get more out of it with a ship that can tank way more HE and is actually stealthier. Richelieu is good at flanking, Bismarck better at brute force. As a consequence, for randoms, where everything is chaotic, both should do reasonably ok, being not too vulnerable to the threat of getting suddenly deleted and having means to do their job, but in any coordinated play or god forbid modes like CB, Richelieu would be straight up trash tier imo.

Nothing Changes what is wrong with people?

DesMo is the only "HE spammer" on the enemy team (Yoshino isn't "spammy"), so staying back to not "reward the HE spammers" didn't work out when it got top of the team, likely dominating the objective.

Is that hard to get Richelieu now?

Main issue with Richelieu is that it has a pretty low skill floor and certainly one of the lowest skill ceilings. If you look at the defenses of the ship, it's hard to citadel, but not impossible, so it can let people get away with things they shouldn't do, but does not necessarily do so. Its armour protection apart from citadel is pretty mediocre, its hp values and heal are nothing special. The concealment is frankly poor, the maneuverability is good thanks to speed boost, but not outstandingly so that it'd make it insanely good against people who account for that. If you compare it to other BBs at the tier, Russians and Germans are way better at just not taking damage when angled properly and mitigating HE damage. Monarch has a more vulnerable citadel, but way better concealment and repair, meaning scrubs get devastated, but people who angle can make it last a good bit longer. NC gets 38 mm armour and improved repair to wither the incoming fire. Amagi is about as mediocre in defense, but hey, they still got a decent hp pool. Offensively, the ship has good range, good pen, good shell velocity, but with one of the worst accuracies at its tier, the Richelieu is nnot going to devastate at range. It will get a few cits at range, but hardly ever anything substantial. Still worth the occasional opportunistic shot, but nothing more. At shorter ranges, Richelieu is starting to approach overpen territory surpassed only by Roma. The dpm is poor with 30s reload and 8 guns only. And 38 cm guns are the worst among tech tree BBs. At least Bismarck gets a 26s reload, Monarch even gets 25s with one more gun. If the opponent angles, Monarch also has better HE to fall back on. Richelieu at mid range cannot hope to compete with the likes of NC, Vladivostok or Amagi that just bring more guns of bigger caliber, often with better accuracy at these ranges (in NC's case, at any range). In terms of gimmicks, 8% speed boost is cool, but easily one of the least useful gimmicks in the game for a BB. It is best used to get into good positions faster than the enemy can anticipate or respond to, but thanks to the mediocre gunnery, Richelieu isn't going to get the amount of leverage out of these positions that one might expect. Lastly, it should be noted that the great base range partly has to compensate for no spotter plane. Spotter plane is a far more flexible tool than just having better base range though. It's a fun ship, I like it, still got it in port. For randoms, you can do great in it and it is forgiving when you stay mobile, but other T8 BBs either scale way better with player skill (NC, Vladivostok, Monarch) or they just have better tools at their disposal (Bismarck). The only tech tree option that I could consider worse is Kansas once it is officially added to the silver ships. It'd still have a better gun caliber and 12 guns to make up for a 40s reload over 30s, but 23 knots, crap armour, crap accuracy means Richelieu still can do more in a battle. If one considers premiums, Odin is imo worse, thanks to having just outright pathetic main battery that has no redeeming features. But for example Gascogne is just outriight better. Certainly doesn't help that Bretagne guns at T5 are nothing special and you basically take a mediocre to poor T5 gun all the way up to T7. At T7, a KGV has more pen than Lyon. If there's one thing bad about the T5 to T7 that you'd really like to be better, it has to be the guns. As said before, the only thing Normandie and Lyon have going there is that they got a lot of them. But for Bretagne... it's just a worse NY.

The reassuring thing is, many of the morons might just be people that couldn't care less about the game and act more sensibly outside of it in matters they take serious.

    Nevksy or Petro?

It's undoubtedly strong, but CB meta has stopped being very representative of cruiser meta ever since the mode became open to CVs. If you wouldn't have a class that basically can just bomb/torp/rocket a semi-static defender into submission without repercussion, renders traditional DD play and spotting kind of obsolete, you would see far more other cruisers with specialties other than brute force push to set up crossfires to achieve a win (and added bonus of having less freeboard to rocket with half the citadel being way too armoured for rockets). Just as a reminder, T6 CB was a ton of Graf Spee. Doesn't mean the Graf Spee necessarily goes beyond "meh" in randoms. It certainly doesn't in my opinion since the 25 mm midsection became standard for T6-7 CAs. It's decent at best in randoms these days. And Petro random performance looks less great with every passing week.

    Nevksy or Petro?

Short of a fail-dived DD, I don't think much can be overmatched effectively. DD superstructures, but that isn't really "effective". Otherwise, 16 mm is enough to not get overmatched.

Is that hard to get Richelieu now?

Bismarck has better dispersion, same sigma. Bismarck reloads in 26s, Rchelieu in 30s. Richelieu, imo, is the worst tech tree BB, but only because someone has to be and I consider all T8 BBs with the exception of the Odin as at least solid and worth their weight if played well. Richelieu is to me a ship that isn't incredibly strong, but can be incredibly fun, when you actually use the speed to get in good positions.

    Nevksy or Petro?

Petropavlovsk is one of the tankiest heavy cruisers in the game and a cruiser of extremes. Insane armour for a cruiser that is partly BB level, insane penetration on the guns for a heavy cruiser, also almost BB level. Petro can punish hard, but is the least easily punished Russian cruiser at T10 (when normally Russian cruisers broadside just blow up. You still shouldn't broadside, but Petro is the one that can actually survive that maneuver. Also, it has the best concealment of the T10 RU cruisers short of Smolensk. Offensively, Petro has slightly worse accuracy, but almost the pen of Bismarck and improved pen angles, so like with Stalingrad, if a cruiser shows a bit of side, you can citadel it to death. On the flipside, Petropavlovsk's radar is pretty much garbage with no useful duration and Petropavlovsk when it cannot use AP... oh boy... it makes Stalingrad look good. That's the balance kind of. Petro HE is basically trash, with no meaningful firesetting, mediocre pen, no meaningful dpm, worse than average accuracy. Against DDs, yes, HE can hurt, but any other cruiser would be a bigger menace. Against bigger targets, I had matches in GK and Montana where some Petro tried to kill me, but just couldn't because it's HE can't even pen most of the ship and while it's hard to damage Petro with AP, you can win the HE trade as a BB. Similarly, as the ship has no torps, if you aren't easy to citadel you can rush down the Petro if it sits bow-in and doesn't realise it has to get out, the best the Petro might be able to do is ram. Lastly, the AP can't even overmatch Mino or DDs, so half the T10 cruisers with HE will just be an utter pain if they just go angle hard and use even just half their guns. Some DesMo might just crap on you with its rear gun turret. A Hindenburg certainly will. Imo, Petro's main point is that it is a great mobile platform that can move around in ways Moskva and Stalingrad can't and this way can get on the sides of ships to get the most out of it, not to sit in one point like most Petros, being absolutely predictable and easy to defend against. Nevsky meanwhile is a somewhat well-rounded light cruiser. It is best known for its tankiness as a light cruiser (reinforced lower bow, good hp pool, decent belt) and the great AP pen (on the level of a heavy cruiser), but the Nevsky also handles like a heavy cruiser and has HE dpm like one, while the HE pen is your CL 30 mm of garbage. Compared to Petro, the Nevsky however has a much easier time dealing with actually capable cruiser players, DD players (given it has proper radar duration, proper cruiser accuracy, 1000 m/s shell velocity and some actual HE dpm worth mentioning) and its fire chance is respectable, so even if you don't deal a lot of HE damage to BBs, it will burn them over time. Nevsky has to be more careful, as it has pretty crap concealment, turns poorly (but goes 36 knots in a straight line with an insane engine power) and its armour is nowhere near as strong when broadside, it will get reliably wrecked if caught broadside. But it just is that much more flexible overall, imo. Also gets torps, which are actually useful. The AP on Nevsky is not insane overall, but still very good even at range vs most cruisers, so you got that to compensate for the bad HE dpm (for a CL). Both ships are good, imo, neither is broken. I personally prefer Nevsky because I have Stalingrad, I do not like the absolute reliance of farming pepega broadsides and I also enjoy having the torps. Petro is strong in CB, especially because of coordinated attacks with crossfires, but in randoms... Nevsky just has more tools, imo. No, unless any long range HE spammer with more armour and no smoke counts, like Zao. Nevsky is overall more like a Hindenburg with guns that are worse in HE, trade AP dpm for AP pen and some armour for a radar. For farming stuff without a care, Hindenburg is hands down better. Nevsky adds the ability to radar. This also makes Nevsky a very powerful counter to Smolensk, because their smoke can be radared, their HE doesn't pen most of your ship, yours pens theirs, Nevsky AP can citadel the pathetic Smolensk citadel belt at any range and it isn't hard to hit a ship even at long range due to the great shell velocity. If you can't decide, I can only say though, Moskva exists too and is also a good ship still that doesn't need to hide behind these two, imo.

Nothing Changes what is wrong with people?

Which is why enemy DesMo is top of their team? I mean, if you hang so far back the enemy cruisers don't even need an island anymore, I think you aren't exactly not rewarding them.
  17. HaachamaShipping

Is that hard to get Richelieu now?

It's not hard. Turenne, Courbet and Bretagne are low tier trash, kinda, Normandie and Lyon are derp BBs with good speed, insane turning for that speed, troll armour and while the guns suck in every possible way other than number of them, their quantity is a quality of its own.
  18. HaachamaShipping

No damage from hitting an island?

It's been removed years ago when the game basically went life because it was absolutely detrimental to gameplay, same as team collision damage. You'd regularly have people beach themselves or ram team mates out of carelessness and that decided the match already, as there were losses before the two teams even met each other. And reintroducing it is absolutely silly as well, especially given island hitboxes are a mystery half the time where you have no clue whether you might scrape by or not.

Is it me or are the British CVs weak?

Oleg, Varyag, Kotovsky, Mikoyan, Lazo, Poltava, Izmail, Ochakov, Gnevny, Ognevoi, Khabarovsk - I guess that invalidates all the Petro, Stalin, Kremlin and Smolensk, right? Apart from that, Emerald got buffed and is pretty decent, Hawkins only is poor due to firing angles but has insanely good survivability for its tier, Vanguard isn't even bad, just mediocre. turret traverse, not reload. On the flipside, Orion got to be the most OP T4 BB on release and Iron Duke still is pretty decent, QE is basically tech tree Warspite with a worse turret traverse and Warspite is still a go-to BB for any T6 ranked or CB. And GK is such a great BB, while the Kremlin and Thunderer are poor? That's not even universally applicable. Monarch is on the lower end, Conqueror and Thunderer on the higher end, Vanguard and Lion are in the middle. Cruiser-wise, the heavies are on the lower end, the high tier lights are mediocre. Generally, the ships have enough range to actually function. God tier concealment in cruisers, BBs and certain DDs, best in class repairs in all classes except CVs, most insane dpm on the light cruisers with access to smoke, extremely reliable HE performance on heavy cruisers and BBs that basically ignores counterplay. And sure, you can say that is my opinion and we won't agree, but as pointed out before, if one looks at ship stats, British ships have their black sheep, they also got their good ones and overall the British in WoWS can't claim to be worse off than other nations. The only line that is almost universally poor, with the sole exception of a T6 premium is the CV line.

Which ships to buy for coal before removal

You can snipe behind islands with or without range module. Without it's 13.8 or so, with it's 16+ km (assuming you use AFT). Be aware though that the shells need almost 19s to get to the max range at over 16 km. Due to how the shell arcs are though, you can even fire over some islands that seem otherwise impossible to fire over, which is why I said, this is part-time Colbert. It's not a cap contester, the concealment is too trash for that. You can contest caps only if you know what's in there, you know it has no support and you can rush it down and dpm it to death. Typically, the best approach to playing for the objective in Marceau is the approach most of these poor conceal DDs have (and which even better concealed DDs should opt for if they otherwise just find themselves in a silly stand-off) and to just work on killing all the support (or getting them killed), so the DD is left on their own. Thus, sometimes you will open water gunboat (Against BBs or cruisers with slow shells at range), sometimes you sit behind some cover and just throw shells out to burn someone down. Sometimes you go for stealth torp... and rarely you go for yolo torp. Yes. You can also watch the guide on Tashkent, because to a degree you will need those strategies too.
