so thats part of my algorithm now....
HaachamaShipping replied to Padds01's topic in General Discussion
lol They don't. I couldn't discern anything questionable really. Hipper might have a less pleasant voice (to some?), but isn't exactly "worse" content-wise. -
CVs aren't universally hated. I got complimented like never before in the last few weeks for bringing Enterprise to ranked. It's good by comparison, crap when you take into account that no T6 ship really has amazing AA.
-
You don't spot cruisers, unless they fire. if everyone camps smoke, you got nothing to fire at. Yes, you spot bombers, but what? Perth has crap AA. Bot CVs don't dodge flak. If your expectations are based on training room, be ready to get surprised when running into good CV players. How much damage is another Perth going to do against invisible Perth blob? And don't say you can lead with spotter, because that's pretty much how CV sees the game 99% of the time.
-
Cool, put half your team into one small smoke bubble. The fighters impose a cost, but don't make it untouchable, because losing 3 planes out of a flight is not even prohibitively costly. As an Ark Royal, I'd gladly just lose 3 planes to torp or bomb the cloud, watching the Perths struggle to evade without leaving their small puff. Even if they start popping more fighters or smokes, to cope with it, an entire flight wasting the consumables is worth it. And finally, everyone sitting in smoke works because a CV spots. If you use a DD to spot, the DD is basically the first to die to CV. And the Perth's own plane can't spot cruisers past 6 km, because aerial concealment of ships that doesn't fire is too low.
-
I bet WG also thinks Hosho is a support role CV with not as much killing power as T10. And that low tier CV is fine.
-
Perth can run smoke + fighter. Trento too. Trento also can play the stand-off meta and is incredibly agile. If meta is Leander/Perth heavy, Trento also just craps all over those with 203 mm overmatch. London for the meta is slow, short ranged and just worse, compared to Trento. One thing I forgot to consider with AR though: If meta goes heavy into Leander/Perth, it's the T6 cruiser the bombs full pen. And against cruisers, junking them for 7-8k with ease and consistency is still pretty brutal. CV forces the blob. If they blob and have no CV to force your ships to blob, just take the other two caps. And if you don't stay together and cycle smoke, you also don't get perma smoke and have minutes of a ship sailing in the open till smoke is off CD and that is enough time for a CV to pick it off.

The 1,000,000 XP Question - Agir, Azuma, Alaska?
HaachamaShipping replied to invicta2012's topic in General Discussion
"I feel Ägir tanks better than Alaska." "Can you logically explain that?" "Yes, here is somewhat unrelated stat a that proves my feelings right." "This is not a logical explanation if stat a does not explain how it causes the outcome you describe." "I refuse to engage in a meta debate." ffs, if you cannot make a logical point as to why something is, then why bring it up? And don't just throw your anecdotes in here just to run off the moment someone engages in a "meta debate" to tell you that your arguments are devoid of reasoning, as if it was unreasonable to bring logic in and not just throw feelings at each other. This is goddamn ridiculous. -
The 1,000,000 XP Question - Agir, Azuma, Alaska?
HaachamaShipping replied to invicta2012's topic in General Discussion
No, it's not a logical explanation. A logical explanation is if I for example say that the difference in cits you take in Albamarle compared to Surrey is higher due to the step in the cit being a shot trap. That is a logical explanation. It's a theory about the cause for an effect I try to explain. Trying to say that Ägir is tankier because it takes less bow citadels with no further explanation as to why it would take less bow citadels is not logical. Also, I guess you mean "career". Carriers literally cannot detonate. I did not bring up my experience because 20 Ägir games are a joke of a sample size, 51 Alaska games isn't exactly much to make a point either. And literally nothing about WR or damage dealt says anything about how susceptible a ship is to bow-cits. Case in point, I also have yoshino, outdamaging both T9 supercruisers and it certainly can get devastated through the bow. But consequently I don't try to rely on bow armour to tank BB shots... -
It's to be seen, but T6 CVs certainly are no joke, especially when most enemies are just cruisers. Even stuff like Ark Royal that has poor bombs for anti-T6 cruiser can be pretty brutal with its triple torp drop.

The 1,000,000 XP Question - Agir, Azuma, Alaska?
HaachamaShipping replied to invicta2012's topic in General Discussion
Neither should bow-tank most BBs. But Ägir is not tankier. And anecdotal evidence over an unrepresentative sample with no logical explanation is pretty pointless. -
The 1,000,000 XP Question - Agir, Azuma, Alaska?
HaachamaShipping replied to invicta2012's topic in General Discussion
That's like saying most people don't know how to shoot Yamato cheek, thus Yamato has an edge over GK. When Ägir potentially has a stray shot land in the cit and Alaska is almost impossible to citadel, then Alaska is just better. And even if both would not take frontal cits, Ägir would have no edge, just be as tanky... or well, less so, cause the deck sucks. -
The 1,000,000 XP Question - Agir, Azuma, Alaska?
HaachamaShipping replied to invicta2012's topic in General Discussion
Actually, both have 27 mm of bow, just Alaska has a submerged cit and a 38 mm deck. Ägir can get wrecked through frontal citadel bulkhead more easily and has only 30 mm deck, so large caliber BB will absolutely devastate it from the front. Ägir has only two aspects where it is "meaningfully" better is belt (90 mm means most cruisers will just fail to do damage and even most BB HE does nothing) and concealment (only 300 m though). -
Shikishima Secondaries Question
HaachamaShipping replied to Communist_Loli's topic in General Discussion
Same as GK? It literally has the same dispersion and range. Why do you think skills like Manual Secondaries with -60% dispersion and secondary module with -20% are mandatory for a secondary build? -

At some point I'll have the entire IJN tech tree in port, just so every IJN weeb captain actually has a goddamn ship and doesn't sit in reserve. I already have Yamamoto, 2 Akenos, that cat and a copy of every other Haifuri member sitting in reserve, because I got no idea where to put them. -
Graf Spee might have some value, but it's just not consistent and unlike Stalingrad, it isn't going to just shatter or bounce most incoming shells. PEF, imo, is not worth it. Speed it has, but Bayern gives better protection, with better guns and while you don't get as great a dps value, you actually get a fighter plane. Which at T6 is worth more than any AA. Overall, if I had to come up with a lineup, I'd say, 1 CV, 3-4 Perths or Leanders, 2-3 Trentos. Potentially more Trentos, less of the others.

New line to be announced this week
HaachamaShipping replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
Next announcements will be IJN cruiser split on NA on 7th of December and new KM DDs on RU server on 9th of May. -
Not very familiar with the concept. Usually, the most devastating salvo is the one fired by whatever Italian cruiser or big gun BB with a player that can actually aim. Might be first, might be last, might be in the middle. Frankly, if you get devastated by a last salvo, it usually just means that there was someone further away that paid attention in big ship that has an idea how to aim (and predict turns) and fired while still having target lock, but shells arrived after you got unspotted. Given the range that would need to be involved, it's usually something with a crapton of alpha, like a BB, a heavy cruiser or a supercruiser and thus you can guess why it hurts so much. After all, when for example two Fletchers meet each other, the individual DD salvos don't do a lot per salvo, but if some Zao, Brindisi, BB decides to join in, their salvo might take a bit longer to arrive but obviously does a good bit more if it hits.

Shikishima Secondaries Question
HaachamaShipping replied to Communist_Loli's topic in General Discussion
On paper, Shikishima's secondary firepower is better than a Harugumo, because Shikishima receives the secondary version of the gun, which has 1.7k HE alpha, not the main gun version with 1.4k. In reality, DDs are vastly more accurate though. Also, don't be surprised when you finally get in range and find most of them dead. -

Fire Prevention reduces the max damage you take from fires by 1/4 and the amount of fires most small caliber ships can put on you without shattering most of their shells by 1/2. Basics of Survivability reduces fire duration. And frankly, the measures that are in place seem pretty decent enough. -

Kill the cruiser and DD will move up. Kill BB and cruiser will move up. As they move up, you move up. But hey, continue whining about how the game does not accommodate you. -

If you are permaspotted from 1 minute in, your vision management needs work. If team mates don't go where you want them to, there is no point going on your own. Should someone cover it? Yes. Should a BB cover it on its own? Most of the time, no. And you can just disengage while buying time on a flank. Kiting works on most BBs. Well, I certainly do not feel defenseless in my BB and I get the feeling many others here also seem to do reasonably fine. So, why can't you? -

Either you know how to use damage control and positioning or your expectations for what your ship should withstand are too high. Adjust the one where you are lacking. But given you complain about how to deal with HE spam without going to map border, I guess it's the former. I'd suggest making better use of: concealment teammates that can screen inbetween you and enemies terrain that blocks shots Noone can shoot ships at 20 km if they aren't spotted or hard cover is in the way. -
New line to be announced this week

RU BB split, leading up to Slava! If RU DDs and cruisers can have linesplits, so can BBs.
