Opinion regarding the released German cruiser line
HaachamaShipping replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
And Omaha fires up to 9 salvos of 12 48 kg shells in a minute for 5184 kg of ammo. At tier V. No, the Deutschland is not out of its league at tier V. Because broadside weight is not everything, as I already explained before. A Furutaka can kill an Omaha quite fine too, if they exchange fire. And no, 2 knots don't really allow you to do any more avoidance work with Fuso than with Kongo. 2 knots difference means, you see an enemy battleship, you go look for targets elsewhere. And you will see them before they see you, given detectability is a good bit different. If you are in a different area of the map, 2 knots difference is not enough to allow to close in anytime soon and one can hide. Also, a Fuso can steam at an angle, as she doesn't need to catch up to you that much, if she can finish you in a few broadsides of all her batteries. If you get to where the Fuso spots you in the first place (~13 km, I'd guess), running away with your 2 knot advantage won't get you out of that 20+ km range anytime soon. -

What ammo should a DD be using against another DD?
HaachamaShipping replied to _x_Acheron_x_'s topic in General Discussion
Yes, I got up three destroyers so far, all three IJN, two with abhorrent guns, one with just bad guns. These guns are mostly a joke due to the slow turret traverse, mediocre reload and not too many of them on a ship. I looked at the tech tree and it isn't getting that much better later on, the best DDs have maybe tier for tier a gun performance similar to Isokaze. I may never have done much with them, but I can count one and one together and thus feel somewhat capable of giving basic advise on ammunition choices on a Japanese destroyer at least, which OP seemed to have, given they referred to the ship as "Invisiblekaze". But I am sure that premium Soviet DD is far more representative of what the average DD will do. -

HaachamaShipping replied to _x_Acheron_x_'s topic in General Discussion
DD popguns should just fire HE at everything. Larger ships will just bounce you off (IJN shouldn't use guns against those in the first place), destroyers are not going to get that much damage from AP. Sure, DD caliber may be one of the few to not just overpenetrate, but the destroyer has no citadel, so you are better off just firing HE, which will almost surely damage modules if it hits, because DDs have no protection and everything is cramped together on minimal space (same reason DDs in the past were known to be among the worst ships for sailors, as the crew comfort was non-existent). Some DDs even have a higher damage on their HE shells than on AP. -

I don't believe in the concept of "It's too crap to be in tier V, so put it in tier VI". It just means the BCs it will encounter will mostly be of the Kongou-class and less of the Myogi-class. And this is now. What will other nations have at these tiers? And sure, you can't be "caught" by a Fuso, but god help if that thing appears around a corner and you can't effectively run from it, because lol 2 knots difference in speed. Then the Fuso just proceeds to pummel you with its 6x2 356 mm guns at slowly increasing ranges, which Fuso can do all day with its incredible range. And don't bother firing back, because in contrast to Kongou and Myogi, that ship has actual armour that works. The thing is, this ship is just good enough for tier V and it will not be good enough for tier VI. At tier V it can be balanced against most things, but it will have those few enemies where it has to play very smart or die. Special ship needs special tactics. One of the main reasons I argue it to be a premium, because premiums with faults aren't as much of an issue as regular ships with faults. See for example the Albany, which at tier II is competitive against most ships if it gets to apply its pretty good guns, but completely outmatched by any experienced player who knows it can't shoot further than 6.3 km. The Deutschland similarly will be a pretty good cruiser killer, but will have to stay clear from battlecruisers. And you can play it with that in mind and be pretty decent at it. -
Game need to be rebalanced, torpedo are too much powerfull
HaachamaShipping replied to stratege1401's topic in General Discussion
But I don't want my ship to blow up due to the enemy hitting my torpedos. First module to die on my Furutaka. Always. -

Cruiser > Destroyer > Carrier > Battleship

My order is BB > CA > DD > CV (never tried that, so comes last for now). If you just order according to fun, there is no universal truth, only tendencies of the masses. -
Opinion regarding the released German cruiser line
HaachamaShipping replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Myogi and Kongou got bad armour though and if you play your cards right, you may win. But the Deutschland is a cruiser killer, not a BB killer. It will meet the Kongou and Myogi also while at tier VI, just that now it can also meet Amagi at tier VII, which has 30 knots and 5x2 41 cm guns. Deutschland just has to avoid BBs, or torp them. Like about any cruisers, because good BB players like shooting cruisers. -
The Bismarck is..................Disappointing as a Tier VIII Battleship
HaachamaShipping replied to _Sterben_EU's topic in Battleships
The issue isn't secondaries, it's armour. Bismarck has that, Japanese BBs haven't. And where they have it, they usually can brawl quite a bit. IJN BBs kind of don't brawl whenever their armour is so garbage they are better off just trying to hit things at long range or going after cruisers. Bismarck's secondaries aren't that bad. 16 15 cm guns and 10 10.5 cm guns. Compare to the Japanese Nagato, which has 18 14 cm guns and 8 12.7 cm guns. So Bismarck would be pretty comparable to that. -

Ah, explains things. And it is tsch, a sch following a t. Like in Deutschland. Well, even if it'd go to almost 40k HP (comparable to a 15k ton ship), it'd just be a slow weird mixture of a BB and a CA, underarmed for the first and not maneuverable enough for the second. You got ships that make up their lack of maneuverability with plenty of HP and better gun armament before. Look at the St. Louis, which has about 1.5 times the health of Tenryuu and premium Aurora. In exchange, the st. Louis is a slow ship that just goes its merry way at its own pace to fire at whatever crosses that way. Deutschland would be similarly a way slower cruiser at tier V, with higher hitpoints and the BB gun armament, which would, with a little planning, allow the Deutschland to try go for it, take on whatever funny cruiser gets in the way, maybe scare off some DDs and try to stay clear from enemy BBs by being avoidant, up to the point where it may be useful to help finish the BBs off. And Tenryuu or St Louis can both go try fight it. The Tenryuu should not get hit in the first place, it's just too fragile. Regardless whether it's from 152 mm guns or 280 mm guns. It will have to dodge Deutschlands fire just like any other fire directed at it and it can use Japanese 7 km torpedos to try kill the Deutschland. Or spam if the Deutschland faces the other way. It would even work to just torp the Deutschland in the face if the guns are pointing the other way and you count on the miserable turret traverse. St Louis will just have to be careful. But it's not like St Louis can last long against a Furutaka that is aimed and loaded. -
Join the Navy? But really, you aren't being forced to play now, are you? Sure, there isn't much competition, but this is a FTP game, not some daily necessity like food or electricity. If WoWS doesn't fit your preferences, this isn't really WGs fault, it's a market gap. And one can only hope that one day it be may be filled.

Battleship's secondaries, are they worth it?
HaachamaShipping replied to Spidyy's topic in Battleships
Yeah, CAs. Which for Myogi includes CLs, ships like Kuma, Tenryuu, Phoenix and Omaha, ships where HE might be useful to avoid overpenetration. Heck, you can get citadel shots with HE on a Kuma. -
Battleship's secondaries, are they worth it?
HaachamaShipping replied to Spidyy's topic in Battleships
Who does? Is it actually that useful to fire HE in that quantity? I guess it negates the angling and 46 cm is quite the caliber, but well... -
Opinion regarding the released German cruiser line
HaachamaShipping replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Well, it's a Myōkō, to be exact, while reducing the number of letters. Just that typing Myoko is easier for all those that don't care and Myoukou is the easiest for all those who do try to distinguish, but can't type ō. Similarly, not everyone can just type ü, which is an Umlaut found on German-language keyboards, not in most other languages. Thus, people who do not posess such a keyboard arrangement might find it as hard to type a word countaing ü, as it is for them to type one that contains ō. I for one copypasted this ō, but usually can't be bothered. And I merely found it weird for a person that seems to not have German language as their native language (given you struggle with Deutschland and Scharnhorst, two words that are quite easy for natives to the German language) to choose a name containing an Umlaut. But it seems you know how to type it. Cleveland will be moved only because the Cleveland as is is too good a ship and needed a nerf to not be ridiclously OP (still a pain). But it is balanced towards Aoba, which actually has had a 5 rpm maximum fire rate (except on Furutaka) IRL, pretty comparable to ingame. The issue is thus on the Cleveland, not Aoba. On tier V, the issue is that Furutaka with RL values would not be competitive at this tier, so she got buffed to make up for it. Furutaka may not be a great ship, but seemingly this ship was deemed adequate for tier V, if buffed. The Deutschland meanwhile compares to the current Furutaka, so she pretty much compares to a ship that was deemed adequate to be tier V. There is no reason whatsoever to not place this ship at tier V, if WG makes the decision to introduce it. Here she is balanced. Here she needs no adjustments to catch up. If you take the ship and put it in tier VI, despite it being just comparable to an at best mediocre tier V (even if it isn't corresponding strictly to RL), then the Deutschland suddenly would need buffing herself to stay competitive. why would you do that? -
But you already get nothing if you don't do a thing. If your ship just is stationary for 20 minutes or until it gets sunk and you do no damage, there's nothing you get but the cost. Sole way to get XP is by AA shooting an aircraft maybe. This. Had the game already crash for myself a good few times. And all I can say is that it decreases income (repair cost), it may waste the first win of the day, it lowers win rate, average exp, K/D ratio and all other statistics drastically, it's a frustrating for me, because I'd actually prefer playing to the whole technical issues and because I know that I just burdened some team with a ship that won't do a thing for the whole match. And I do not really like to disappoint. Can only recommend to go and open a ticket at WG support if it becomes a real issue, but even then, I'd try at times to log on and go for a few rounds in my Furutaka, because the game is just awesome when it works... until it crashes. Sorry to all those whom I have troubled up to now.

Opinion regarding the released German cruiser line
HaachamaShipping replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Furutaka has 76 mm belt armour to the Deutschland's 80 mm. And that's what protects the citadel. The turret faces are a very small area, that is just there to prevent the turret from getting knocked out if hit frontally. But who in their right mind shoots a ship with such lulzy armour in the turret on purpose, instead of just aiming at the citadel? Yes, Furutaka got the RoF increased, but only so it could fit in. Originally there wasn't really anything and what would WG put in tier V else? The Furutaka was the only heavy cruiser prior to the Aoba-class and the Kuma was followed only by the Nagara-class and Sendai-class. Which would essentially be Kumas with 610 mm torpedos (the more moderate version of Kitakami, which after all was a Kuma-class cruiser originally). Those wouldn't work out too well, because they'd suddenly turn the Kuma from a gun boat with decent torpedos into a torpedo boat with decent guns. And after the issues Kitakami had, I'd guess the option of better torpedo armament on Kuma ships for tier V wasn't going to happen. Next option would then be Agano-class, which would be utterly ridiculous, because it pretty much is a Cleveland with half the gun battery removed and replaced by 610 mm torps. That ship would be adequate at tier VI even, but tier V? Can't blame them for making the Furutaka playable as a compromise. With the Deutschland though, they have no gap to fill, so it can be put at wherever it would feel most "natural". Which would be tier V. No need to buff it just so it can go to a tier where it just has a harder time and becomes a complete fantasy vessel over various fixes to adjust it to be playable. I mean, if you are worried you can't meet Deutschlands contemporaries, sure you can, they are your upper tier matches. But you won't be matched against ships like the Iowa, where you are pretty much just a laughingstock, because you can't steam off, it is faster than you, you can't penetrate the hull, because it got actual armour, you can't HE spam it to burn, because your spamming capability is a joke and fire resistence is supposed to be good on Iowa. you can just pray to be put out of your misery quickly by the inevitable citadel penetrations from 406 mm guns that have no issue whatsoever getting through your joke armour. Admittedly, the same issue may exist with Kongou at tier V, but Kongou at least has a weaker side belt, where 280 mm may get through. Also, Günter? No better name? Couldn't you at least use more classy Günther? Also, is it a pain typing the Umlaut? -
The Bismarck is..................Disappointing as a Tier VIII Battleship
HaachamaShipping replied to _Sterben_EU's topic in Battleships
Alone from the value itself, it'd be among the worst. But I think the accuracy actually is a more complex calculation. Like how patch 4.1 will buff accuracy at ranges of 3 km or less, it might very well be that Bismarck is better at closer ranges. Isn't Sims getting the choice after Patch 4.1 between two sets of torps? -
Opinion regarding the released German cruiser line
HaachamaShipping replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Accuracy would most likely be a bit over 1 metre per 100 metres. This is comparable to the cruisers and battleships in the game. Sole difference between the two being that battleships have obviously far fewer rounds to send through the air over a given amount of time and are thus not as consistent in hitting. Yes, 2-3 citadel shots will cripple a cruiser. It's a cruiser killer. If it is prepared, it can do that. If the Omaha is on the other side though, you got half a minute to rotate your turrets while getting peppered, if it's a Furutaka, you most likely will end up losing at least half your health. Same issues Furutaka has - punchy guns, but goddamn, they rotate like a battleship's. All guns prepared at a good range, Furutaka can finish off an Omaha in two to three salvos, which come at 17 seconds reload speed. So, Deutschland's devastating guns at tier V wouldn't be anything new. And yes, it is high-risk, high-reward. Just like Furutaka, a ship that will finally get a buff, because most people don't seem to have a great time with it. -
I can't complain. Playing on minimal settings, WoWS in high graphics is a world I never saw, except in YT videos. Will we be able to turn off smokescreen effects, just like bushes and trees?

Opinion regarding the released German cruiser line
HaachamaShipping replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Assuming the Deutschland gets a damage potential of a 305 mm battleship round per shell and hits all 6 of her projectiles in the citadel, it indeed can destroy another cruiser. Add the actual accuracy of that caliber of gun and the miserable turret rotation and you can guess how often that happens. There's a reason the Kongo and New york, which have 80k and 100k potential AP damage per salvo don't oneshot everything left right and center. An increase to 3.5 rpm would still mean that the Deutschland would have the least DPM of any tier VII cruiser, comparable to tier VII battleships. Just that battleships have armour, the Deutschland has not. And it solves not the issue of this ship being horribly slow, to the point it cannot effectively run away from its most troubling opponents. At tier V with its historical loadout it is well-suited to just be an odd mixture of CA and BB, with guns that can seriously harm a cruiser, be a bit of a pain to a battleship and it's damage makes up for the utter lack of speed. The large caliber and limited guns will still mean it'd be inflexible, but it'd fit in. Still, point remains that ships are based on capabilities, not on their age. Ships will normally be about similar in their age, given that older ships usually are more advanced, but that doesn't mean that ships always are placed like that. Else there'd be a long gap for example in the BB line, prior to tier 9, because tier 8 are ships from the 20s, tier 9 and 10 from the 30s and 40s. Deutschland is a tricky subject overall and I think it's one of the main reasons why she isn't in the German cruiser lineup. And I doubt her addition has any priority, due to the tough job balancing her. I am pretty sure he meant the cruiser, and it's the cruiser I am talking about too. A cruiser which is not going to last in tier VII, the last tier where the US have a slow battleship. As a BB, Deutschland would fit in at tier IV if you have seriously low detectability and good rudder shift time. Even angled, 100 mm of armour is just enough to shrug off the cruisers there, the ship survives by surprising Myogi and maybe outranging Wyoming. I mean, it would be a kind of mini-Myogi (6 punchy guns, crap armour, good speed for a BB). With torps. -
Opinion regarding the released German cruiser line
HaachamaShipping replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Tiers are matched on terms of strength, not time of production. That's why the Pensacola (laid down 1926) and Myoko (laid down 1924) is higher in the tier than a Cleveland of the 40s. Because the Cleveland is a light cruiser and the other two are way more powerful heavy cruisers. And sure, the Deutschland has big derpy guns, but these are BB guns and the ship overall lacks seriously in mobility for a cruiser. It just has not the capabilities to last in tier VII. For every salvo of 6 280 mm shells, a Myoko returns up to 20 203 mm shells. Even if the 28 cm shells had the damage output of a 356 mm shell (10k), they'd not have the DPM of a Myoko. And at that level of armour, 203 mm is going to hit your citadel still. She is utterly outclassed at this tier, where pretty much anything is better than her. At tier V meanwhile, she'd only be up against the Omaha, which has smaller guns, but way more mobility and high rate of fire, and it has the same amount of guns as furutaka, just 280 mm, instead of 203 mm. Given Furutaka fully upgraded can fire 3.5 rpm, that is still balanced, also considering that Furutaka still does a respectable speed. Also, Furutaka is getting buffed in 4.1, because was a not so great ship. I'm pretty sure that a ship that can be balanced against Furutaka as she is now is not really a great addition to tier V, it'd be laughable at tier VII. Deutschland would be pretty much all the Furutaka experience, just even more odd, as a German tier V premium. It's the sole way I can see it to work without thousands of thread stating the ship is crap and needs a buff, because the grind is too much. -

Tier IV vs Tier VII and that is fair?
HaachamaShipping replied to warsinger2's topic in General Discussion
In cruisers, just use the maximum range of your guns and don't engage ships way higher in level that you have no reasonable chance of killing. In IJN BBs, you got range, in US BBs, you got armour. Use it properly and you can do wonders. And don't just go solo. That hard to understand from my longer post?.
