Is Odin Worth 3,500 Doubloons?
HaachamaShipping replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
Do you have 3.5k doubloons you can throw away? Then I guess she might be. If not, then not. Ship is questionable and certainly can frustrate. You are getting maybe a T7 ship with T8 MM and economy for the price of a T5. If you can work with that and enjoy it, sure. If you can't, you still wasted money. Overall, for most players I'd recommend getting Scharnhorst or Tirpitz or any other T8 BB instead, eve if more costl, because you actually get a ship appropriate for its tier. -
The 1,000,000 XP Question - Agir, Azuma, Alaska?
HaachamaShipping replied to invicta2012's topic in General Discussion
With some proper angling and positioning, Azuma/Yoshino shouldn't just randomly explode. Teaches a lot about cruiser angling though. -
What are these on top of Myoko's superstructure?
HaachamaShipping replied to TeaAndTorps's topic in General Discussion
It is indeed a Type 22 surface search radar. tfw you can identify IJN radar sets thanks to Kancolle... -
ST 0.9.7, changes to test ships (DB 58)
HaachamaShipping replied to YabbaCoe's topic in Development Blog
Also Massachusetts. -
Most guns that can only pen 19 mm don't use IFHE, because for the times they need to shoot guns, it's an enemy DD or they try to hit superstructure and set fires along the way. Ships like Atlanta can get something out of IFHE because they are T7, so their guns now pen mid tier ships, as the HE pen goes up, but for example on a Fletcher, it's pretty pointless. And superstructure is not 0 hp.

ST 0.9.7, changes to test ships (DB 58)
HaachamaShipping replied to YabbaCoe's topic in Development Blog
Odin, Pommern, Brandenburg... Compared to how the USN premiums at these tiers look, these new German BBs are just a race to the very bottom when gunnery is concerned. -
Shooting HE is better when AP would either: ricochet due to angle shatter on an armour layer due to insufficient penetration, without other areas for penetration being available e.g. If you shoot a broadside Yamato in a Hindenburg, main belt is likely going to shatter your AP, the entire 32 mm plating of the upper belt won't though. Spaced armour meanwhile is typically just something you avoid hitting altogether. If the AP shell is not powerful enough to pen multiple layers, the HE shell is virtually useless, unless it sets a fire. Ships like for example Henri or Yoshino would shatter the AP on the internal belt, but HE would pen first belt to give a "torpedo protection hit" ribbon for 0 damage (because the entire area behind it has 0 hp). It'd usually be smarter then to aim for deck or upper belt or just any part that isn't torp protection. IFHE does virtually nothing to change that.

I'd go SI, AFT, Manual, FP, no BFT or DE or such. An extra repair and FP go a long way in making sure you actually arrive in their face and not just go up in a flaming blaze.

Citadel hits on Ochakov (duh), Molotov, Trento , Duca d'Aosta and pens on Roma upper belt. That's pretty much it for Cheshire MM. You also get a few more disabling hits on crap like Hipper turrets (70 mm except turret face), but such I did not want to make a list of, given it's basically wasted anyway. Overall, most of the targets you are better off using AP on, rather than try to AP citadel and of course there's the long list of ships against which IFHE Cheshire is just the utmost trash with neither dpm nor fire chance. Worse than Cheshire is anyway.

Still no clue what I'd do with a Belfast camo, so no. Even with Belfast '43 announced, likely this camo is for OG Belfast and that Belfast only. -
Belfast coming back...
HaachamaShipping replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
Well, disregarding the standard port slot, bundled with the corresponding captain and a few missions, basically costing 2-9 Euro above what the usual ship of this tier and class costs (Littorio being the least over Roma, Yukikaze being the most expensive compared to usual T8 DD prems). -

Belfast reload - 9s Excuse me, what? I know you get a ton of consumables, but this ship has already to make up for having no armour, now it's got poor dpm too? -
Belfast coming back...
HaachamaShipping replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
Well, we'll see how that goes. But certainly interesting, as it was a pity such a historic ship could no longer be obtained. -
No, gotta evaluate map images, find out which has the coolest looking buildings on the islands and please rank the skies of the different maps on a scale of 1 to 5.

High tier gameplay: Random DDs with better AA than Yamato????
HaachamaShipping replied to KubiG37's topic in General Discussion
No, you can shoot down things without considering it, just say no when someone else brings it up. -
Is the Asian DD line obsolete?
HaachamaShipping replied to BanzaiPiluso's topic in General Discussion
80 knot torp and up to 4 of them will eradicate pretty much any T6 ship. Can meet T10, but we don't want to talk about that. Also... AHAHAHA! -

Öland? Also I guess prems were ignored, as Le Terrible, Cossack, Orkan, Harekaze and Yukikaze all manage to get similar or better reload than a Lightning. -
High tier gameplay: Random DDs with better AA than Yamato????
HaachamaShipping replied to KubiG37's topic in General Discussion
*laughs in Shikishima* Pretty sure, for all it's worth, one of the most resilient targets against most anything not an AP bomb. For all AA is worth, that is... -
One table is "AP Shell Penetration Damage for T6 Battleships", the other lists overmatch (among other things). None lists the penetration value. That's why I posted the curves to demonstrate my point and showcase the actual values.

You know what the difference is? You told me to read up. I never told you to git gud in the ships. I'm certainly not going to play T6 BB till the stats reflect some standard you can be happy with. And for all I care, you can stay ignorant and post damage tables to try argue penetration and look like some uneducated potato that cannot differentiate between the two, as long as you don't tell me to read things. I also won't tell you to learn how to Dunkerque.

Taking the Colorado-class, the European convention has caused European sources at times to refer to them as Maryland-class. It is a European name for a non-European thing that the people in question don't refer to as such and which over time got mostly replaced by the proper classification that the Americans themselves gave it. Insisting on just calling it Maryland-class today is basically just being silly. It was already silly to impose a European convention on the USN back then, but at least you could argue that maybe more people would know what you talked about. Nowadays though, that's no longer the case. And it obviously is kinda silly to try tell the preeminant naval power how their ship classes are to be referred to. In a way, it's the kind of attitude you'd find with people who never accepted Iran as a name and go on to call it Persia. 100 years ago, sure, it wasn't what the people called their country, but at least among Europeans, people would understand Persia and maybe not understand Iran. Nowadays though, it'd just look ignorant. -
"I will dismiss your point that is grounded in verifiable game mechanics and performance values as nonsense and bugger off to avoid having to endure criticism for it. But I'll give you some standard well-wishes and a cap emote to not make it look as bad." Have a nice day, but please read about how the game works before telling me next time to read up on it more.

Ban enterprise from ranks

Less fear. There's still the chance potato does potato maneuver and unpredictably changes course to spot my DD. -
All of them are crap against proper BB belt at distance. They can only hope to pen weak points or lightly armoured ships. The difference between the Bayern and Mutsu is minimal in practice. Because at any long distance Mutsu can't pen large parts of the Bayern and certainly cannot pen Bayern at any range where Bayern cannot deal damage back. Dunkerque can outrun Bayern, yes. It cannot outmaneuver Bayern well though, unless Bayern is preoccupied, because the Bayern will outspot Dunkerque and has the option of just going dark. Dunkerque basically can choose to go in or go out, but it will never be able to contest Bayern in a 1v1 at the ranges that Bayern gets spotted, unless Bayern is too incompetent to angle. Matters how? It's like saying I can make Colorado work, so it can beat Sinop easily. The theory doesn't check out and most Sinops I will meet likely aren't the greatest players alive, while as an above average player, I might have a good chance even in a BB that shouldn't win the fight based on ship stats alone.
