    Gameplay Suggestion : Fuel System

Apart from the idea being dumb: You do realise that even if DDs have smaller tanks, they also eat less fuel to propel themselves forward? While BBs can burn through insane amounts of fuel.

    Graf Spee - Heal?

Well, the issue with hit rate is, less accurate ships do not automatically have worse hit rate. If I take my own stats in ships, my highest hit rate in a BB is Gneisenau. Noone will tell you that this ship is amazingly accurate. The thing is, you just get used to it and get closer, because you need that hit rate, with only 6 guns. In a Fuso, I don't care if the hit rate is 22% compared to 30% on my Gneisenau. It has double the amount of guns. 2/3 as many hitting on target is still more damage per salvo. Which is where the Graf Spee becomes difficult. It prefers to get close. It prefers to nuke other cruisers from below 10 km, where you can hit somewhat reliably, where you might even use torpedoes. But it isn't that easy to go that close to enemies and survive, if those cruisers are accompanied by larger ships. Dunno, the only thing she has in common with these two ships is Scharnhorsts gun caliber, Scharnhorsts secondary gun caliber and the number of Gneisenau's guns. Practically, the worst of both worlds. Without the armour, without the speed. This is more like a Scharnhorst crossed with a Nürnberg.
  3. And every other cruiser goes through you. It's practically no different than an Atlanta is for T7 and noone calls that ship OP (except the silly folks who never played the ship and just got farmed). The hull itself will be weak and the range pretty bad, reliant on AFT to get less bad, but still far from good. Also, Worcester is coming out soon...

Franz von Jütland new german comander with special cpt perks

Any changes in the torpedo thread in the last months has been introductions of deep water torpedoes, either in form of the PA DDs or the Asashio. With 0.7 to 0.9 km base detectability, you now spot them from 0.875 to 1.125 km away. This is still far too little to not get hit if you rely on Vigilance to save your ship. Especially against Asashio, where you now get about 1 second extra reaction time, but unless you somehow can turn the rudder meaningfully on any German BB within 5 seconds... And if you just use it to boost hydro range... That 3+ km detection is more than enough to give you like 15 seconds of warning even against fast torpedoes. I really think any ship has better investments for 3 skill points. Especially at high tier. Get BoS, fires are imo the greater issue than torpedoes.

Z-39, another premium passes the "WG balance" check

At least this copy paste job didn't get 20 km anti-capital ship deep water torpedoes in order to be "different".

Z-39, another premium passes the "WG balance" check

It still doesn't even have best concealment in its tier, nor overwhelming gun power or torpedoes. It is just decent in all aspects, except its hp pool that is great. But hp alone don't help. I see the strengths of the Z-39 as the right strengths to have given to a T7 premium DD, who will have to go up against T8s and T9s at times. hp and concealment module go a long way to make the ship playable there, though the armament still won't be up to much. And this is far from Belfast. Premium DD given out for five seasons of Rank 1 in ranked. A Fletcher with a bit slow torps and instead of defAA it can get radar (same as on PA DDs). Given what a radar/smoke combo can do, how decent a Fletcher is and that people who reached Rank 1 5 times in a row tend to be on average a bit better in performance than the overall player base, it's not surprising Black dominates at the top of the chart.

Friedrich der Große - How do you play this thing?

I haven't forgotten this thread, just tried implementing some of the advice over the past few days. After the tank build became increasingly frustrating, holding up ok in damage tanked, but being quite boring, I tried to actually go for this and specced the FdG captain like my Bismarck captain. I cannot yet tell whether secondary spec works out that well, ship still feels a bit iffy, but at least one can watch the secondary rainbow at 11.5 km. Did not take BFT, because like on my Bismarck, I took BoS instead, opting for shorter duration on fires, as the secondary damage doesn't justify BFT, imo. Concealment is pretty bad, so best to use islands. Ship feels a bit like Gneisenau now, having to look in the beginning for how to use your few guns to best effect, until the lines thin out a bit and one can go in for a push. Gneisenau was not exactly my favourite German BB, but was playable. At least, people seem less likely to expect a secondary FdG than a secondary Bismarck.
  8. Ok, my WR in this ship is now 42%. I have no clue how this ship is supposed to be played. It certainly is not a repeat of the Bismarck. It's much larger, almost offensively so, but it has so many issues, in my opinion. On paper, it should be an improvement over Bismarck. Yet, I prefer playing a Bismarck in T10 matches over this thing. In my Bismarck, the ship actually feels compact and resilient and I'm at least a bottom tier BB that is not expected to carry hard. Guns: Well, with the T9 Main Battery Mod (the only one I deemed worth taking), this ship at least gets an upgrade here. Instead of 4x2 38 cm guns at 26 seconds reload base, it's now 4x2 40.6 cm guns at 24 or so seconds reload. Using the lighter guns, because dispersion still is German and so awful that volume over time has to compensate. Also, the firing angles are bad (nothing new), so you expose a lot of side if you want to bring your full broadside to bear. This often is not worth the punishment, at which point, it feels almost anaemic how little this ship achieves with its 8 guns, often reduced to 4 effective against the other T9s. Secondaries: Well, in Bismarck this at least worked and you could feel happy about the secondary rainbow. These are the same secondaries, just, T9-10 matches hardly ever get into these ranges. And you now are so large, Fire Prevention really becomes necessary. So having points for a secondary build... Armour: Hull, yes. It's great. Then everyone shoots your massive superstructure. Maneuverability: I at first went for Steering Gears mod, thinking it might be better to have actually good rudder shift. Considering going back to Damage control mod. I don't know. Maybe I should just accept that this ship handles like a brick. I feel like in so many areas, you get to start patching up the issues of your size that many of the interesting parts of the Bismarck fall away and you are left with an oversized ship that has bad accuracy and bad dpm unless you can somehow show broadside without losing half your hp. So, how do you actually get anything out of this ship? I don't even want the Kurfürst, I'm considering selling this ship, or at least leaving it be, because it was some 25 million credit mistake. But maybe someone knows what this ship is supposed to do that makes it interesting and not feel bad. Because at this point, I just feel like I'm starting to be a liability to my team for not being an Iowa/Missouri/Alsace/Lion/Musashi or even an Izumo.

For the beginner, even SIG-510, Galil and F2000 are easier to use than AK-47. And they can be found often enough to easily be dummy linked for free. Though SIG-510 doesn't give evasion buff, but at least she buffs tiles diagonally in front of her (not sideways). Also talks like an ojou-sama. But yeah, there's a good few very usable 2* units that can be obtained easily as drop or through construction.

So many BB's lately spam HE in battles - What the hell?!

In this scenario, either... They would've been better off firing AP at you, taking you out faster. They were in no position to reliably pen you and switched to HE to get something done. In which case, are you blaming them for actually not just going for the lolbounces off your angled armour? In either case, if you find yourself overwhelmed, might be you were overextented. But the issue here isn't some non-British BBs spamming HE.

So many BB's lately spam HE in battles - What the hell?!

tbf, Scharnhorst might switch to HE even if it doesn't do much, because if the enemy is angled, 28 cm bounces a lot. Also, it's easier for them to make switches in ammo.

AK-47 is decent and you do get copies of her from commander level milestones, so, if you want to use her, no need to spend cores. Only downside is that sideway buff tile. Anything one can make of that?

How to maximize secondary hits per match as cruiser main?

I mean, if you don't mind playing a ship like Bismarck/Tirpitz, you could rack the hits up in a few games in random too. Not like you need to play deliberately crap to get secondary battery hits, just get within 11.3 km of enemy ships.

France in general has a history of Japanophilia that goes beyond just manga and anime. But yeah, they license and translate a great variety of works. I kind of appreciate that Kazé even started branching out into neighbouring countries, enriching the market. But hey, I'm used to living in a country most people don't really care about and at least it has an English localisation.

    Mutsu - Yes or No?

Issue to me is, for IJN battlecruiserish ships, there exist the Kii for worthwhile credit gain and captain exp and the Ishizuchi for low tier fun. Mutsu is also more competitive, as would be Musashi, though they arguably don't have the speed (but both rely on overpen and have little AA). Silver there exist Myougi, Kongou and Amagi (Fuso and Nagato are again a bit slower, but also not that different). Meanwhile for T7 fast, worthwhile BBs, there exist also the Hood, the Scharnhorst, the Duke of York (if one got her), and in silver there are the KGV and Gneisenau. So, overall, the ship isn't offering much new, it offers a package that might work, but which is likely better served by silver ships and with other competing premiums that likely offer a more fun overall experience. So, you'd have to wonder whether to get this ship or like 4 different premiums that offer either a better IJN experience or better T7 battlecruiser experience, unlike you really just have too much money and don't care. And that is assuming you have no other ships you might want to buy from other playstyles and really just want to focus on the battlecruiser playstyle (personally for example, the reason I did not buy a Scharnhorst was that I bought an Atlanta instead, which is an absolutely different kind of ship, but also a type of ship I enjoy). Additionally, I'd argue that for some, and I would think it would apply to me too, would be kind of disappointed with the Ashitaka, having played the Amagi already, because of how much of a downgrade it is (and a tier lower). Hood or Scharnhorst feel that far less, as Hood is quite different from KGV and the Scharnhorst is not just a Gneisenau stripped down.

    Mutsu - Yes or No?

Hood also has an incredible hp pool for her tier and pretty good armour protection while angled, while the guns have good arcs. If you can avoid the bow or stern getting overmatched, this ship can tank a lot of damage, especially given it has 51 mm of deck armour for most of the deck, which just ricochets AP and shatters HE, even from high level HE pen threats like Roon. The guns indeed have an easy time penning cruisers, but cannot citadel BBs most of the times. But you can't have it all. Just settle for normal pens. Very comfortable handling otherwise, even without captain skills, which makes her a pretty good RN trainer, btw. Ashitaka meanwhile... why? It's an old Amagi stock hull. One of the worst hulls to have ever existed and it was removed for a reason. You are going into T7 battles with a ship that has not great accuracy, AP that is defective and reliant on overpen (same old AP shell type as found on Myogi, ishizuchi and Mutsu, just that most of these have an easier time just overpenning and Ishizuchi typically spams HE at anything with actual armour), pretty much no AA and turns like a brick. It's like if you gave Nagato another gun turret and a few knots of speed and in exchange sucked all the power out of her rifles and her survivability. Something like Kii actually just trades accuracy and broadside protection for AA and torpedoes, but if it hits, it hits like you expect 41 cm guns to hit. Ashitaka meanwhile is entirely dependant on MM putting you up vs T5 and not T9, though likely even a Ryuujou can kill you with ease. I mean, if you think you need to have Ashitaka, sure, but the only IJN premium BB that might be worse is Mikasa (but Mikasa was cheaper and at T2, who cares?).

From the list of countries I took it they made an English version and released it in English-speaking countries, thinking others wouldn't be able to speak English or something. I'm pretty sure you can get more weeb money out of France and Spain than the UK.

    Graf Spee - Heal?

That certainly would be something, instead of having accuracy be the middle ground of creiser and BB too. Thematically though, I think the current concept kind of is more sound. Would be fun though having the Yuubari's pinpoint accuracy, pretty much guaranteeing citadel shots even at range.

Kind of the same here. I know I should try get catapults, but eh... Yeah, it's a bit of a hassle to get running if you don't live in the listed countries, but imo, certainly worth it. Took me a while to find a workable emulator and get the apk installed, but now it's running smoothly. One does run a bit the risk of losing sight of time though, because everything repairs so fast (compared to KC).

Franz von Jütland new german comander with special cpt perks

Vigilance enhances torp detection, not ship detection, so why would it enhance ship detection range of hydro? If it did, sure, I'd actually pick it, but spotting torps from like 1 more kilometre away with hydro up is so pointless. Even a Kurfürst should manage to dodge torpedoes he spots normally with his hydro.

British CL Cruiser ... we did it all wrong

Not really odd, given the FCS does nothing at all for your torpedoes and it's the only "range" upgrade there is, because stock and upgraded torps have both 10 km range. FCS moves the gun range from 8.6 km to 9.4 km I think. And what do I need that for? 9.4 km still is far too close to not be hit by return fire that gets you at 8.6 km, if you need to hit things you just go closer, if you run into other ships and use guns for self-defence, it's perfectly within range. Really, all that range upgrade does on all IJN DDs that aren't the Akizuki is to make it harder to drop out of visibility range after the opportunistic shot.

    Graf Spee - Heal?

Hey, if you pit it against the adversaries it was supposed to fight RL, it does quite well. Those liberty ships are no match in ops and you can wreck the escorting cruisers.
  24. HaachamaShipping

    Graf Spee - Heal?

The armour is not inbetween. It's very thoroughly cruiser level. This isn't some Kronshtadt/Stalingrad, where you really have BB belt strength (or even 32 mm bow plating), this is a ship coated in 19 mm armour. T6 BBs will overmatch it anywhere and hurt it a lot. The best thing armour-wise on this ship is that for T6, the citadel is low and kind of protected from front and rear by the turret barbettes. You still get crapped on from the side, but at least from the front/rear you only (!) eat full pens, not citadels (unlike a La Galissoniere or Nürnberg). Obviously, other cruisers can just load HE and dpm you into the ground if they know not to show broadside.
  25. HaachamaShipping

    Graf Spee - Heal?

Actually, I'd argue that against DDs and BBs, you are almost easier to kill. This ship has pretty poor damage output. Kind of similar to the Ducas, which also get heal, for similar reasons. Just that Ducas have fewer low damage guns, while this has fewer long reload guns. And yes, I think there is no cruiser worse off against DDs. You got 6 guns, they either fire AP for maximum overpen or you fire HE, which is German, so it has pathetic damage for its caliber. If you hit, that is.
