The lack of Harekaze in this lineup disturbs me. It may not have the hp and the fourth turret of the Akizuki, but 5.4 km concealment, better handling and a second torp launcher are still excellent compensation for a different, but still flexible and interesting playstyle, imo.

I see Arashio. I approve. One thing that irks me with AL compared to KC is how the logic of all members in a certain ship type sharing a certain age category just is not appliccable and some BBs and CVs somehow look about as young as the average DD, while others look mature like the heavy cruisers.

Just that the GZ's manual drop circle and autodrop circle are both hardly different and you can autodrop all day and get largely the same results? Its panic drop circle isn't that large either and with 10 bombers and cruiser hp, you can actually delete dedicated cruisers if you have to. You can delete non-AA cruisers with absolute ease. And anything fatter than a CA will get hit regardless. So, if you are some BB staying close to a CA, the panic ability of defAA isn't going to do much. You basically hope the planes just die fast enough to not arrive. Which is why if you see a GZ in the enemy lineup, rather go accompany the New Orleans on your team, not the Mogami. It's 10 bombers and T8 cruisers are not small, nor are their citadels small. From above, any hit through the deck basically is a citadel unless its at the extreme bow or stern. The American AP bombs struggle because either deck armour is too good and it shatters or the deck armour is such a joke, it never arms. German AP bombs have a lower arming treshold and more pen, while having silly numbers in that bomber squad. The GZ is not a skill-based ship, which is why it is broken garbage. It's why I called it flying Asashio. It requires little skill at all to get somewhere, because as long as the full 10 bombers approach, single or paired ships are not an issue and one of them will likely die if its no DD. Or lose like half to three quarters of the hp. But it also has a horrid reserve capacity and the number of squads is so and with one single fighter squad and a single bomber squad on which your damage depends, this CV will hardly scout to the same degree as any other T8 CV. In the hands of noob CV players, they'll get more out of this ship than any other, because it's basically great if all you can do is left click. For experienced players though, this ship gives no real rewards for being good at setting up alt-attacks and all other CVs have a better squad loadout and a better ability to sustain losses and keep fighting.

But, I wouldn't call Alsace OP. It's good, but it has clear balancing factors. The dispersion on the guns is comparable to Germans, just not as felt, because it's got 12 guns. The 38 cm caliber is going to bounce more often than 40+ cm caliber, even off the better armoured cruisers, the whole ship is clad in 32 mm plating, even above the belt armour. Against destroyers, the AP bombs are a joke. Against cruisers though, please do not think your cruiser is going to be largely unaffected by GZ. GZ AP bombs work quite well against cruisers, even against those with little armour. Also, always keep in mind, these bombers can have HE loaded. Don't be careless in DDs until you know the GZ has AP bombs.

I have the Atlanta. I like it a lot. I want a Flint. Giving up the radar hurts, but after I saw what one can do with 4.5 km torpedoes, getting torpedoes with actually decent range...

Be a T7+ carrier and ask in chat "what is alt attack?" Be a BB and shoot multiple salvos of HE at broadside enemies. etc.

That's pretty much every victory on a weekend.

If I were cynical, I'd say it's easy not being as salty about DDs getting screwed over when you yourself play BBs...

Do I need to know the outcome to report the BB camping in the back, low-impact farming damage, keeping their star while the rest of the team died? If I was in that match, I'd report you even if you somehow managed to still win or if we managed to win on points or something, because likely it would've went better if the Conqueror had been more useful at the caps. Take out Asashio in the T8 ranked to get the same result, likely.

Ehhh... sorry, but it's more tinfoil territory to think that. Then that would apply to all people. But why is it not applying to all people? Why is my WR not dropping down, despite having similar overall stats? Why are there still unicums that aren't being dropped on the losing side? What would be the meaning of all this? I wouldn't believe in some plot by WG to inflate win chances or something. It'd be hard to do and frankly, it doesn't make sense with how others are performing.

Sounds like some conspiracy theory for people to feel better. But if it is true, I'd like WG to take their skill-based MM and finally apply it to carriers. Or maybe most ships. But carriers especially.

Your WR dropped by 1%, not 3%. Why would it be rigged? I mean, you think WG just randomly hates you, so they pluck all the terrible people and put them on your team and pit you against purple league players? Didn't pay them enough? Didn't sacrifice a cow? I dunno, but I think it should be obvious that you might just have an unlucky streak. There really is no reason they would screw with the random MM just to annoy you. We all had such times, assuming we are being singled out just because kind of seems a bit self-important.

Alright. Nice to know. Never tried it. Never really will try it. Typically I rather spam the AP into the superstructure and get better results. But I guess if stray shots hit the secondaries, I now know it's not entirely pointless. Only almost so.

I mean, from the looks of it, the third turret might have issues shooting backwards, while the rearmost turret might have trouble shooting forward, so, not exactly something solved by kiting, but by beaing broadside on. Not ideal, but we'll see what the actual angles are. Hopefully not a T10 version of Aigle.

To fellow GF commanders, following the 29th, Type 95 will become available. I find it interesting how all the early Chinese guns (discounting Hanyang from the Qing era) wear PLA olive drab, but all the modern ones don't, as if to show off that China actually is becoming wealthy, more refined and normal.

As a DD, forget it. As a cruiser or BB, AP shells hitting them. As a carrier, pretty sure you can just pray to RNG to let bombs hit them. Overall though, secondaries are rather small turrets, secondary specced Germans often run AAM 1 so they have extra health and if you hit, you knocked out like one mount of how many, while doing no damage to the ship, as the module ate it. Will the enemy BB become less threatening after you hit their secondaries? Not really by much. All decent BBs do way more damage with main battery than secondaries. Even secondary monsters like Bismarck. Secondaries kind of get overrated there and you are far better off trying to destroy a main battery turret, which is easier to hit and has a larger impact on performance. Or you just kill the ship, which also makes the secondary spam stop. Lastly, if you really don't like getting spammed by secondaries, Gneisenau only has a reach of 8 km max, Bismarck has max of 11.3 km, FdG has 11.5 km and I think Kurfürst is also around that, so staying 9 km or 12 km away from them will make the secondaries stop shooting. Just to point out how pointless destroying a Bismarck secondary turret is, assuming you hit a 15 cm twin turret, you took out 1/6 of the large caliber secondaries on the ship (the ones that actually hurt). My Bismarck in a typical battle does maybe 12k direct damage with secondaries. That means you might have prevented 4k damage (1/3 of the secondary broadside). That's like 3-4 overpens of the main battery. And if I actually realised and cared about it, I'd just now swing the ship around and get the intact secondary broadside firing at you. The sole reason to try kill secondaries is the campaign mission, though I honestly wouldn't bother with it.

Ran into @El2aZeR and @PzychoPanzer, as well as one of their friends. Seemed friendly, action-packed, but hopefully next time the matchmaker puts us on the same team. Was nice playing against you though. Had a lot of fun.
