  1. Maybe, if I get the free exp. Would likely get Nelson first though. But certainly a more interesting target than Musashi.

Well, I do hope there'll be some more later, because this isn't even on Haifuri levels. From the looks of it, here you get one free commander, a bunch of lulzy cammos and the rest you pay for. In Haifuri we had purchaseable commanders, but also a whole set of easy missions for a free commander (what do you mean Isoroku sounds like someone croaking their last breaths?) and a whole campaign for flags and perma camo. The ships I don't think we should count, because Spee is just a reskin and AL doesn't have much in unique ships like Harekaze. And is there a point in selling AL Hood instead of just selling Hood? Naturally, two of the ships also are silver ships, one is a fremium and two were taken out of the shop, one for a very good reason to be never sold again. Leaves Hood and Aurora.

Top tier DDs 8-10, do people enjoy them?

T8 DDs are fun, even if not top tier. T7 DDs are fun if you are top tier. The difference in concealment between T7 and T8 is just brutal. It's the reason why I consider a T7 premium like Z-39 that has its main strengths in its competitive concealment for T7 and its glut of hp as a good design, because it practically makes it a mediocre T7 DD that specialises in not sucking as hard when up vs T8+ ships. Still must be fun running into an Akizuki without warning.

    AP bombers OP?

AP bombs are fine. My DDs are almost unharmed and that surely balances out that it oneshots cruisers.

    dutch ships from holland

I'd not give too much about the original request. They likely used it synonymously (as many people do), just like they use "battel ships" (sic) synonymously with warships. I think they just want dutch ships and the region doesn't matter.

Higher number of dispersion always means better?

If Gneisenau stock range is not enough, then you positioned the ship wrong, imo.

    Mutsu - Yes or No?

If you want less frustration, Aiming Systems Mod. The main issue most people have with the Gneisenau is that its guns have the infamous "German accuracy", while the ship only has 6 guns. So, it can be quite frustrating. Aiming Systems Mod makes it a bit less frustrating. Still, the ship can be infuriating. On the other hand, Gneisenau is the first German where secondary spec makes any sense. It's T7 (thus gets full use out of Manual Secondary skill) and especially in the top hull, those secondaries shred same tier ships and lower with ease. If you spec IFHE, they even hurt higher tier ships, but that's some serious investment ontop of AFT and Manual Secondaries and I'd not go for it. The secondary range with all modules, skills and flag is 8 km. This is better than non-German secondary builds, but it certainly feels close compared to the 11.3 to 11.6 km you get on Bismarck, FdG and GK later with full secondary spec. I played Gneisenau first time with aiming Systems Mod and around 7 km secondary range, but rebought the ship last weekend and went full secondary. While the guns are not great, after a good few Bismarck games, the handling of the guns feels more familiar and I feel like I know what to expect from them and how to not get frustrated. For captain skills, if you want consistency, CE and FP. If you want secondary spec (maybe to later put the captain on Bismarck), the way to go would be PT, AR, SI/BFT/BoS (pick one) and then AFT, before MS at 14 pt. PM helps your few guns survive more hits, but frankly, PT gives more value, especially given this ship can get some serious focus fire. EM is frankly not needed. Your guns already turn fast, AR pays off way better. Third skill is BFT for faster firing secondaries and more AA (the AA on top hull is top tier for T7), SI, if you want that heal or BoS, if you hate fires. Most people will tell you SI or BFT are better, I'm the scrub though that just takes BoS (later SI ontop), because 36 seconds on a fire (with flag and Damage Control Mod 2) saves me more health upfront and typically, I rarely burn through 4 heals without dying first. Usually, if I end up needing a 5th heal, I would be dead if not for reduced fire duration. Also, if you don't spec FP, BoS is kind of the budget replacement to make fire hurt less. Lastly, don't rush with this ship. It looks like some yolo boat, but it is not. The issue with Gneisenau is, it's got so many things that encourage overextending, yet it gets so little to cope with it. Your secondaries have at most 8 km and your torps have 6 km range. This invites brawling. Indeed, this ship is among the best brawlers in its MM spread and could take on T9 BBs and kill them with the double punch of torpedoes and guns. But the torpedoes have an effective range of not even 2km if you want to guarantee the hits (6 km if you just launch them around corners at unsuspecting people or into smokes at enemies who forget BBs can have torps) and if you go in, you kind of are committed, potentially overcommitted. Gneisenau has good belt armour, but the bow and stern can get overmatched and at close range you can even be citadelled through the bow, which sucks. The hp pool is not like later Germans among best in tier, you are no Nagato. Gneisenau can bully ships with less than 38 cm guns easily, but otherwise needs to watch out and play support with its 6 guns at range until the enemy lines are thinned out and you can go in and 1v1 some enemy BBs for some action-filled glory. It doesn't help though that the ship does 32 knots and turns not too well, thus causing you to be quicker in the fray than you might be comfortable with. Don't hang too far back, just don't be on your own. 14 km is the most you should be away, 10 km is fine (though vs Bismarck, 12 km, because you don't want to eat secondaries). Don't forget that there exist more options for speed than full speed, no speed, reverse and if you really are overextended, turn hard, at full speed. yes, you give broadside, yes you might die. But you will die for sure if you keep charging. Last mod I'd go for damage control. Rudder shift is an option, yes, but I feel like most of the handling issues stem from large turning circle, not glacial rudder shift and the rudder shift is overall manageable. If you prefer to not go secondary build, CE actually allows your ship to disengage, instead of being always spotted due to concealment issues. With secondary build, you basically have to learn how to abuse terrain to make a masked approach.

DDs - Concealment expert or RPF

SE is nice first 3 point pick for most DDs indeed, imo, the exception being Japanese, who are better served with TAE. These ships just shouldn't get spotted in the first place and never for long enough to have to depend on SE giving more value than a shortened torp reload. Second 3 pt pick can be SE though.

    dutch ships from holland

They are cruisers not battleships (though these days, it's kinda hard what's what, I give you that) and I'd expect them by 2019, somewhere around tier 8 or 9 of the Pan-American cruiser line. DPM-wise, they look more tier 7 material, if not T6, but they'll just get radar, hydro, defAA, repair and smoke in seperate slots and it'll be fine.

HMCS Haida leak, coming to ST soon

They are kind of hit-or-miss with these things. Z-39 is kind of alright, imo. doesn't upset T7 balance, has the right strengths to make it less painful when inevitably thrown into higher tiers (though it likely still isn't great). But then you have those ships where WG just burries them under nonsensical gimmicks.

    Friendly Fire issues..

People potentially running into your shell paths should be even more bloody obvious than people potentially running into your torpedoes. Given ships have yet to learn to fly, either the friendly was right in front of your gun barrels, in which case, zoom out inbetween shots, or they were right in front of the target, in which case, don't shoot there, if an ally seems to be that close and potentially harmed. And if two friendlies ram each other, they take like 2-digit damage usually and then that's it. No real repercussions. Repercussions only come if you were already pink and take all the damage, if the ally had no hp and died or if you ram the ally for like a few solid minutes like an utter moron. And even then, you don't turn pink, because likely that ally died to something else. Why is it that hard to not shoot an ally or torp them or otherwise cause them serious harm and to just take a few rounds in coop as punishment when it happens. FFS, I haven't been baned to coop ever since the team damage system got revamped, but if I was, I'd just shut up and reflect on how to not do it again, not go make topics on the boards on how the system is broken. The only thing broken is that the punishment doesn't make people reflect their actions more, but frankly, I doubt any kind of punishment would ever stop certain people from coming on the boards and telling us how utterly unfair it is that they got a slap on the wrist for acting retarded.

Dont get along with Bismarck, finding it very weak to other ships

I tested Kurfürst in Space battles to see what the IFHE secondaries do. It's not exactly the greatest build, but when it works, it's disgusting. In space battles, it was retarded though, because you just went angled in one of those no-fire weather effects and laughed at whatever your secondaries take apart while your armour bounces shell after shell. In normal matches, this likely won't work and good fire management would be a must. Still, tier for tier, I'm sure Kurfürst and Bismarck are better than the Friedrich. Also, agreed, hydro is more worthwhile imo than torpedoes. Tirpitz can punch hard at very close ranges with torps, but getting there is even harder than for Bismarck and the hydro allows for plays you'd really not pull in other BBs. Tirpitz has to play more conservative here. If enemies don't mess up and get into that super close range, Tirpitz cannot do much of the things others cannot do too, while no T8 BB can push into DD-infested waters as well as the Bismarck.

    Friendly Fire issues..

I think even British cruiser smoke can accommodate a British CL and the oversized DD that is the Atlanta without getting claustrophobic. If you really think the smoke cloud is too small, there is a 2 pt captain skill to make larger clouds.
  20. Sure. But you can see the similarities in that both would have 5 gun mounts with suboptimal angles, a ton of hp but only get maneuverable under speed boost and otherwise perform like light cruisers?

Dont get along with Bismarck, finding it very weak to other ships

First off, nice necro. Second, don't free exp it please. If you find the Bismarck appalling, then the Friedrich der Große is pretty much the same, but worse MM and I do not know if you'd want Großer Kurfürst, if you could as well just go get a Montana. That's a lot og free exp you'd waste on trying to get ships which playstyle you already now found to not be enjoyable. On the Bismarck itself though, the ship is mayhaps on the weaker side of T8 BB, but it certainly is not horrible. When compared to ships like Amagi or NC, the Bismarck has fewer effective guns, not exactly great accuracy and it feels like secondaries and the armour aren't worth it. But the ship does have its strengths, which should not be discounted and which make it a versatile ship that still can pull off solid performances and might even pull off things you'd never do in any other T8 BB. Which is when this ship comes into its own. The guns are few, with not great angles, inviting giving too much broadside and eating damage. As you play the ship, you'll hopefully get a feeling for the handling of it and how much you can turn to get a salvo off without eating a lot of damage or when to just shoot one target in front of you and pick another target for your remaining turrets. The dps is not great, but it's helped slightly by the faster reload. With Bismarck, as with all these German BBs, getting devastating salvos is rarer than with others, but with some aim, getting consistent results over time is still possible and you just count on normal pens and the odd citadel when noone can citadel you either. What is good about the guns, is the shell velocity. While it is the main reason for terrible dispersion at range, the velocity of these shells allows for snap shots you wouldn't be able to pull in other ships and it gives enemies less time to react. Also, naturally, turret traverse and such make for good handling qualities. Secondaries may seem iffy, but they are no joke. Frankly, they are not to be relied on, but they are fun extra damage, if you spec into them (and Bismarck is likely the ship that gets the most out of this). At 11.3 km, they have enough range to cover entire cap circles from one edge and to create a zone of HE spam that both demoralises enemies and makes it hard for others to stay close to you for prolonged periods of time. Against lower tiers, these secondaries are just mean, against upper tiers, they are more of an annoyance, though I burned Montanas with them, who thought they could outlast a Bismarck. The best part about the secondaries is, they have the angles to fire forward while your ship presents no inviting broadside. Go bow on to your enemy, select them as secondary target, load AP. Other BBs will hate you for it, as you basically bounce shells with ease and if they turn, you can throw your AP in their broadside. If they continue to camp in your secondary range, they will sooner or later burn. Durability is where high tier Germans kind of are the best, at least in avoiding to take damage (RN heal gives more effective hp). Bismarck doesn't burn any more than any other T8 BB. If you feel like you burn too much, any other BB burns about as much. If you spec into secondaries, you might burn a bit more because you don't get Fire Prevention. But that's to be expected. What Bismarck however gets is deck armour that is only vulnerable to HE spam at the extremities and thus the best HE resistance of all T8 BBs. Amagi and Richelieu wish they could negate this much damage from the likes of Kutuzov, Mogami or T8 Cleveland (soon to come). Destroyers and cruisers basically have to shoot your superstructure for damage and while that is possible, it's not much larger than the superstructure of other ships. Against AP, given you eat less citadel damage, you can heal back more of it. Personally, I am not too bothered with Bismarck rudder shift (it's ok) and don't go full secondary spec with BFT, rather I go for both damage control modifications and BoS, together with the signal flags to reduce fire duration and increase heals. This reduces fire duration to almost cruiser levels and makes it acceptable to even let two fires burn (and reap AR benefits). If you can avoid getting spammed for prolonged periods of time, fires are not an issue. What Bismarck performs best in, is not the kind of devastating strikes the others can pull off (though you can devastate other ships), but withering the storm and be the last ship afloat afterwards (cyclones obviously are your greatest friend and basically the most awesome thing you could get in this ship). To avoid losing lots of hp and to get more out of your ship, try to use terrain to cover for your concealment and try to hang out relatively close to caps, supporting the DDs. Bismarck, imo, is the best ship at this, because with your secondaries, you can just bully other ships out of the cap, especially DDs who might not expect BBs to actually push. You don't need to suicide rush, but you can play pretty aggressive, if you know from where you can get shot and where not to present broadside. fast shell velocity at sub-10 km also make it hard for ships to evade and hitting DDs is fun. Lastly, there is hydro. And damn, hydro is fun. I can only guess how utterly broken this ship was when it had German cruiser hydro, but with normal T8 hydro, this tool still has great potential. I'd actually say, if you want a German cap contester at T8, forget Z-23, get Bismarck. It might not have the concealment edge, but Z-23 doesn't have that either. However, nothing makes DDs more eager to get out of that cap than 69k hp German BB, clad in armour they cannot pen, with a cruiser's firepower strapped to either side and a hydro, so it can dodge torps. No, but seriously, this ship isn't super-great, but I kept it, because it has some fun tools and if you know what you do, you can get some action-packed fun games out of it. And while not best for competitive like Ranked, given how Ranked is, before T10 Bismarck still is a BB with solid stats and the ability to carry games against the typical potatoes.

    IDS_GERCAP

I can only reiterate what I already said here. Captain seems ok if you want a suboptimal build and want more for essentially not speccing into better skills. Other than that, I contemplated Gneisenau, because it has no hydro and doesn't need EM. But really, whatever you put this captain on, you'll always be wondering "Which ship gets the most out of these two skills I might not take otherwise?" and more importantly "Which ship is least impacted by not taking other skills?"

    Friendly Fire issues..

No, there is no way to get it reversed. It generally is a good idea to leave binocular mode and look around you every now and then. The EB incident is kind of unfortunate, the Atlanta one though... Why do you continue shooting when you hit an ally, instead of just moving forward/back at 1/4 speed for a few metres and get a clear shot? You knew the Atlanta was there after the first few warnings and your exchange, even if the Atlanta is a *edit though, just keeping on firing is not the way to go.

The issue is, knowing that whatever losses you inflicted might sting is little consolation over getting oneshot and going back to port. Just enough have to survive in the double layer of RNG that is AA and bomb spread and you are done.
