PöLL - How do you like playing against the Mainz?
HaachamaShipping replied to Knutorius's topic in General Discussion
Worcester has a smaller citadel and while it has no icebreaker, it has straight up better armour everywhere else. Worcester also has a ton of utility, way more dpm and better concealment. Mainz is basically a long range shell spammer that has little going for it except the okish HE dpm and decently survivable hull for a light cruiser. -
Please @Knutorius, was it necessary to just create a poll with no means to respond to it asking about the Mainz? Did you have a bad encounter or what prompted this silly poll? Do you feel it is unbalanced? Can it really be considered "constructive" discussion to just post a poll?

Yes. Very annoying.

HaachamaShipping replied to Sunleader's topic in Aircraft Carriers
No, it suffices if they are an absolute waste of time to use. And they kind of are. The only reason you'd ever take these bombers is when you are out of torpedo bombers, but otherwise these bombers are straight up trash. Rockets pre-patch still were a better option against literally everything. Comparatively, yes, but overall, I'd still rather take the TBs. -

I mean, I'd take Lexington or Kaga HE bombs over the GZ AP bombs. GZ just isn't reliable and even when hitting doesn't pay off that much, whereas HE bombs have a more stable performance, bigger target range and DoT potential. -

HaachamaShipping replied to Smeggo's topic in General Discussion
Too bad, that flood chance on EL is dogshit, with 23% per torp. For comparison, Weser has 31% stock, 34% upgraded, RJ has 30% stock, 36% upgraded, Ranger, Furious and AR have 45% regardless of configuration (with AR having an additional torp per flight). Rhein torpedo bombers have 25%. -

Except Furious has carpet bombers, HE rockets and torps that are actually useful. Furious also doesn't need insane restoration time to function when the cycle time is not as great and you can just spread the plane attrition over multiple plane types. As I look at it, EL seems pretty much the least noob friendly CV at T6 after the Weser. And the least flexible after Weser as well, likely, given that the torps are questionable, the rockets are good but specialised, the bombs are good but few, with poor restoration times, making the ship overall less flexible than something like a Ryuujou, which has decent anti-DD, excellent torps and AP bombs to deal with the rest, Ranger, which can handle basically anything thrown at it, Furious that has less of an edge vs cruisers, but still isn't as overtaxing to any plane type and the Ark Royal. -
You need to regrind and play the line again to get the points.

I wonder what OP ships we referring to, let's see... Ah yes, a rant about Smolensk. How Smolensk cannot have enough ammunition. Historically, these guns came with 400 rounds per gun. Even a full reload build Smolensk only approaches the point of running out of ammunition realistically if it fires its guns non-stop for 20 minutes straight on a full reload maximising build. No Smolensk fires its guns the entire game. But lets rant about Smolensk, ignoring that every ship with torpedos somehow carries unlimited amounts of those onboard when most ships carried one set and that was it. Iowa has a better dispersion than Musashi base at up to 9 km and access to Artillery Plotting Room 2 module. Combined with 1.9 sigma, it is actually one of the most consistent battleships at its tier, way more consistent than a Musashi. Iowa has the fourth lowest tech tree hp pool, as Lion, Alsace and Izumo have less. Functionally, adding potential from repair parties, it also beats the FdG and Sovietsky Soyuz. Adding premiums doesn't change that, as most premiums have even less hp than their tech tree counterparts and only Musashi has more. Being second after a down-tiered T10 is pretty good. As for fastest, it has the highest unmodified speed, shared with Missouri and Georgia. It's fourth fastest, if we consider speed boost, though that still leaves a ton of ships that are significantly slower. Izumo and Musashi are slower by about the same margin as the Iowa is slower than a speed-boosting Georgia. In absolute terms. In relative terms, the difference between Izumo and Iowa is more drastic than that of Iowa to speedboosting Georgia. Iowas dispersion with mod is only bested at short range by the Soviets, at long range by the Japanese (and Baijie), at all ranges by Georgia (to make up for 6 guns only) and at no range by the French. Its sigma of 1.9 is only bested by the Izumo and Baijie. Iowa is one of the most consistent gun platforms at T9. As for eating HE damage, the ship has a 38 mm deck and upper belt and thus is again, straight up middle of the pack, worse than FdG, Pommern, Soviets and Japanese, but better than British and French. Certainly no ridiculous vulnerability there. Saying Iowa has nothing going for it is basically ignoring the point of the USN BBs at high tiers, which is that they also got nothing going against them. They are decent to good in every regard, without glaring weaknesses that other ships might have. They are well-balanced designs that perform under most circumstances.

Most flex T6? What? -
Could be said about almost anything related to CVs, yet I'm sure a ton of resources was sunk on them. But you are not wrong and given that the sound people just gave us a wholly reworked auditory experience with new engine sounds, new ricochet sounds and explosions, etc., maybe aircraft engines could be made to sound cooler. It doesn't address other CV issues, but that's not the job of the sound people anyway...

Bumping this thread. Feel free to join us in NAN0, whether you are just starting out or just looking for a weeb community to spend your days in without caring too much, we got a place for you. Not fulfilling the minimum requirements (yet)? Frankly, don't worry, just contact me and we can work on it, helping you also learn some more about the game. Not sure whether you want to spend time with us? Join our Discord (just DM for invite), free unlimited trial period. Whether you are POI, NAN0 or just a guest, you can still participate freely in all the non-WoWS-related stuff of our community and post memes or something, I guess. Applications proper should be DMed to @Natsuzuki or me, alternatively follow the instructions on the Discord. Though, let's be honest, who the hell even reads this on the 11th page? If anyone joins because of this post, please tell me. Anyway, have a nice day, enjoy the game, don't be miserable (it's only a game) and share some happiness with others. -

HaachamaShipping replied to Smeggo's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, but with that restoration time, you can't just use the Stuka DBs against everything, you sooner or later run out of them. The AP rockets can help deal with cruisers, but against BBs, for example, you only get the Stuka and the crappy torps. And BBs also are the most dps. It looks strong when top tier, given the high plane speed, but I'm sceptical when bottom tier, where I think something like Weser might just flat out be better. And Weser isn't even great. -
When will thunderer be removed?
HaachamaShipping replied to Warrior_16101991's topic in General Discussion
The only thing Smolensk really does is make people freak out at the rainbow of semi-accurate HE shells, which for the average potato is already too much than they can handle. Calling it game breaking and considering Thunderer to be weaker is pretty silly, imo, given Thunderer against poor people is just as good, while against good people, Thunderer has much more going for it than a Smolensk. -

Those times are pretty poor, all things considered. I really am concerned the dive bombers might be overtaxed on this ship. -

HaachamaShipping replied to Smeggo's topic in General Discussion
Can someone tell me what the restoration time of the planes is on the EL? I was wondering whether I should get EL, given I do like playing my Ark Royal and T6 is pretty casual. But with no stuka sound as of yet, secondaries being standard and having experienced Weser, I was not sure. Like, I guess the rockets make up some slack from not having the AP bombs against cruisers, but slow and anemic torps seems to me like the rockets and especially the HE bombers will do a lot of work. Yet, no clue whether they are up for that task. -
Can Alaska better shoot behind islands than a Des Moine ?

Coming after subs: Monitors. Cause we running out of content. Meanwhile Italian BBs in 2030, DDs maybe 2035. -

HaachamaShipping replied to luokailk's topic in General Discussion
Just wait till WG introduces some weirdo Royal Navy supercruiser with typical Royal Navy WWI/early 20s guns slapped on WWII ship. Though, tbf, if you camp some island with Alaska/PR, you are doing it wrong anyway. -
is my yamato build good and how should I finish it?
HaachamaShipping replied to muumis's topic in Battleships
Last 3 points either into BoS or JoAT + EL. BoS is better if you feel your damecon handling isn't on point, the other is more flexible, though on Yamato HE really is just anti-DD shell. Maybe anti-Smolensk. Spotting plane mod is kinda eh, given how Yamato's base range is already great, so spotter is usually just a few shots over islands, not extented periods of 30 km shots. Lack of main armaments mod at least isn't crippling as turrets are well-protected, but I'd really use spotter mod on ships that actually get a ton of benefit out of it (Shchors, RN CAs). Other options in the first slot are kind of pointless.- 7 replies

Go to like 12 km in front of Odin, turn around, shoot AP if it broadsides, shoot HE if it angles, move further away if it approaches to its 6 km torp range, throw torps at it. Wooooo. If you want to meme harder, go secondary build and just try to bait Odin within 7 km, so your Akiduck per side can set a few extra fires. But yeah, usually don't go try brawl things, not because the Kii is exceptionally bad at it (would rate it higher than a good few T8s), but because brawling is a rather underwhelming approach to dealing with enemies. Bait and kite, using the torps like an oversized IJN cruiser is more useful.

Salem with dpm and heal can be a pain too. At least if they play intelligently.
-
Did you not look at any reviews prior to wasting hundreds of whatever currency on this?
-
You can discomfort it. Shoot a salvo, likely it'll set a fire, Kremlin can either use a damecon on it or give you free damage. But indeed, discomfort it is, killing it anytime soon is certainly not going to happen.

You also get a good chunk more hp from 43k to 59k, but I do get what you mean. Also, I personally just play the Goliath with reload mod and move up. 16.8 km isn't great, but within that 16.8 km, I at least have the dpm. Otherwise, might as well go play Yoshino, which at least has the ballistics befitting the range.
