    pensicola is abysmal

Aoba has 60% of the guns of Pensacola. Yes, it has armour, but it's not some T6 Hipper. If 1v1 against a BB, it still has a ton of issues. If 1v1 against Pensacola... Torpedoes cannot be launched forward. And if it tries to turn around, it gets ripped apart. Better armour: Both ships bounce 203 mm shells when angled and get citadelled when not. Both ships get penned by 203 mm HE. Aoba's armour is not going to decide that fight. At best it can count on being a more narrow ship bow-in. Concealment: Funnily enough, I'd hand it to Pensacola here. Not because Pensacola has better concealment, but because an Aoba that gets the surprise broadside shot on a Pensacola will heavily damage it, but before it is reloaded, the Pensacola will angle out. If the Pensacola catches the Aoba broadside (and terrain is something both of these ships like to make use of), Aoba is likely dead in one salvo. In the amount of AP firepower in one broadside, Aoba is not even second place behind the Pensacola, it's fifth to last just edging out Huang He, Leander, Perth and Duca d'Aosta. Budyonny, La Galissoniere and De Grasse beat it slightly. Nürnberg beats it significantly. Pensacola is second place and the only thing that can get more potential AP damage out of a single salvo is Graf Spee. Obviously in terms of dpm, Aoba gets to be second to last, only outperforming Admiral Graf Spee by an insignificant margin (153k vs 151k). So, no, Aoba is far from as devastating in its firepower compared to Pensacola. Aoba's firepower actually is on the weaker side of T6 cruisers, in terms of broadside alpha and in terms of dpm.

No, I don't work for WG. They are selling a commander called Cleveland. You get a commander called Cleveland. It's not a commander for Cleveland. It's the unfortunate consequence of the commander sharing the name of the ship. And no, according to me, I said... Did you get Cleveland the ship with your purchase of Cleveland the captain? No? Then it's Erie specialisation. While I did not purchase it, so I cannot confirm, but according to above logic, Hood, if bought in the bundle with her ship counterpart, would be specialised on Hood, because she comes with the ship. If I buy Hood solo, she is specialised on Black Swan, even if I already own a Hood (though a non-issue as Hood is a premium).

    The Lion, IFHS or no?

I know how it works and what it does. Tested it during space battles (using the chance, given it cost me nothing to spec into full secondary). Just saying, your example battle is a terrible example and if you want to highlight the potential of IFHE on these secondaries you should pick an example where your secondaries actually deal meaningful damage to targets that they could not harm without IFHE. Hindenburg is not a meaningful example. Basically, given you do not seem to understand the difference: I did not criticise your skill build. I criticised your choice of example.

  5. 17 km range... Why would you want this with AFT and range module both?
  6. Not really. Most of the people in this thread I mostly see in the other more game-related sections too. Because, you know, we actually also discuss the game and other stuff...

    Mutsu - Yes or No?

It mostly depends on ship in question and what purpose the guns have. For example, the trebuchets on Atlanta are pretty nice, because it allows to fire over islands and it's terrible to have to get out in the open. Meanwhile for example IJN DD guns have flatter arcs and can abuse that in fights vs other DDs, especially Americans, because most IJN DDs won't use their guns much and when they do, not from behind high obstacles. Among the lulziest must be Akizuki arcs though, because you basically start out flat, but at range, you get high trajectories and can fire over obstacles, because shell drag. In general, people prefer flatter arcs though, because it makes it easier to hit things at short and medium range, higher muzzle velocity keeps time to target short and as shells invariably will fall off at some point, at range most shells fire over moderate obstacles. Thus, for most people, I would guess the Russian 152 mm guns of Budyonny to Chapayev will feel more comfortable than Cleveland with its floaty arcs, where you get like 3-4 salvos off before the first shells land on a target at max range.

    Mutsu - Yes or No?

I meant the field of fire the turrets can cover, not ballistic arcs. Ballistically, the shells are on the slower side on Hood, but nothing that is unworkable.

The AL filter is there so you can hide your premium shop mistakes when you sober up, I guess?

If they sold Atago with the ship for 45 Euro max, I'd buy it. As said, imo, Hood is the sole bundle that stays close to reasonable. Why is it more logical? The logic behind the captain specialisation is: Captain was given with ship => Captain is specialised on that ship Captain was given without ship => Captain is specialised on T1 cruiser I already said once, I feel like it could be nice flavour-wise to make AL captains specialised on their actual ship, but overall, WG is being consistent here.
  13. Damn, look at High School Fleet. So sexualised. It's nice that you want to look a bit less bigoted by saying "there's good anime too, I know", but you could start by actually not just conflating it all together. And Azur Lane is certainly not the same as High School Fleet. Why are you bothered? All the special appearances of ships can be turned off. All the captains are not visible to you anyway. Why do you care how I play my WoWS? You tell us to keep our weeb stuff out of the game, as if it was in any way intrusive when you have a handy filter to block it all out. How about you play WoWS the way you want and leave others to play it the way they want and stop acting as if weebs are all some moral degenerates, because at the very least you don't see us lecturing you how you should play the game.

No. Like all captains, you ever get like that, they are trained for T1 cruisers of their nation. Exception is captains that come with the ship. e.g. Buying Harekaze comes with an Akeno Misaki that is specialised on Harekaze. Getting Akeno from the captain bundle makes her specialised in Hashidate.

    Shinonome

Honestly, Shinonome is still at a tier where IJN is pretty competitive. The complaints about IJN being crap come from higher tiers, especially with ships like the Fletcher getting good torps and good guns, compared to Yuugumo. And higher tiers not being very competitive in a meta like typical T8 ranked.
  16. It isn't exactly more or less socially appropriate or disgusting than it is here. There's enough Asians who don't think too highly of it. Just like certain people here. There is a sizable fanbase and a good few "normal" people who don't care. Same as here. Or why do you think there's so many of them here? Check meaning #2? Words can have differing meanings and in certain cases it can make quite the difference.

Favorite shipgirl (Kancolle,Azur lane, Arpeggio of blue steel,Haifuri)

It's bloated, but it isn't even bloated with doubloons or such, but mostly with crappy camouflage. Guess WG things people buy just about any crappy deal, just because weeb. Meanwhile, constructing 100 T-dolls in Girls Frontline...

I mean, from a production cost pov, it costs more to record voicelines than it costs to copy paste the coding for the special commanders and slap a special portrait on it. But the sale of special commanders is its own can of worms really. The thing that's pissing me off is that they didn't just bundle stuff again. They bundled it with crap even worse than last time.

    pensicola is abysmal

No. It loses the firepower advantage. Pepsi has 10 guns vs Aoba's 6. NO has 9 vs Myoko's 10.

I'm playing this crap for too long. I understand what they say. Hearing a protected cruiser talk about air groups though... (I know it's necessary in case Soviet CVs come out, but still...) Also, do we now have voice lines for shooting allies?

Oh damn, a T6 cruiser that reacts poorly to being shot at. Sounds like almost any other T6 cruiser. So, tell me, what other T6 cruiser can boast the same devastating salvo?

On the good side, individual captains got cheaper (compared to Haifuri). Yay? They now also come with the typical 25 special signals, 5 camos and 10 special missions, not with 1.5k doubloons and 7 days of premium. Even going by the value WG attaches to these signal flags, that's a rather poor return. The mega bundle... has all captains, 175 signals, 35 camos and 70 commander missions. The similarly priced Haifuri bundle was one captain less (Nelson can be gained from missions though), 300 special signals, 200 Zulu signals, a Harekaze permacamo, 7k doubloons and some 60 Haifuri commander exp missions. It is cheaper than all the individual bundles though, even if you don't buy Nelson. The Siren camo has neither good values compared to the hundreds of free camos you get for every anniversary, nor is it even a very good looking camo. Ok, it doesn't look like the Fir Tree camo, but the amount of work that went into that thing... Why the heck are you even selling it? Who ever was like "Oh yeah, I totally want this!" Dragon flags and doubloons actually are something people would consider desirable in a bundle. This camo? I could as well slap the Halloween camo on and it almost is the same. I think Halloween has a better exp value. For the ship bundles, Hood is ok, I guess? You pay about as much for the ship as you'd normally pay, with a small 3 Euro surcharge to get the captain. Don't buy into the discount, Hood in the shop costs 35 Euro, the added 10 Euro are WG bundling this ship with 25 more of these camos. So, tentatively, I call this the best offer of the whole collab, because the ship is decent and actually desirable to some, and has the least added cost to get ship and captain. Meanwhile Aurora... 18 Euro for the captain, a crappy T3 Russian protected cruiser and a bunch of camos and missions. For 18 Euro, you can get a T6 Molotov. For 13 Euro you can buy Aurora the captain with vastly better bundled items and put her on Varyag, for almost the exact same experience of low tier Russian cruisers. Or buy a Bogatyr, because it's a better ship. Maybe if you sold the ship and captain for 10 Euro, it could be appealing, just for collection and such, but 18 Euro? Even if I was willing to buy a few commanders or a bundle with decent pricing, if it doesn't just stay bundled but the value of the bundles also starts dropping this much, yeah, no. Also, where is chibi Hipper flag? I tried look up the prices for the special commanders when they were sold. Sadly found none. Would make an interesting comparison though what the difference between improved skills and just a voiceover is in pricing.

    Premium Shop Broken

It's not that it cannot be done. It's just that at 10 km range or more, Warspite has a way easier time hitting the Bayern than the other way round and Bayern is not coated in 25 mm overmatchable plating.
